I ALWAYS get the same selection to buy or try at any large chain store: A $900 American Stratocaster One or more Squire Strats, and the occasional Telecaster Entry level acoustics made by Epiphone or Sammick or any other "value priced" brand Anything else they have to "order it" Edit: One thing that makes me respect the hell out of Martin guitars is the fact that if you order a new guitar from them, they don't tack on extra cost for it to be made left handed like most every other company I've seen does.
