deafening
i think after the letters are done, there should be a best live albums category and a best compilation/soundtrack category. Daft Punk will get my vote for both of these categories.
thebiglebowski
Lol I actually meant it. Live albums are indeed allowed, just because they offer a different take on the songs, as opposed to stuff like greatest hits albums which just compile the best songs on studio albums, and b-side albums which normally compile from EPs and stuff. Sorry for the confusion! I really don't care what the rules are for this. It's no big deal. However, it does seem inconsistent to me that you could have a greatest hits album with a tracklisting that wouldn't count but you could have a live album with the exact same tracklisting which would. Yeah, a dude may throw in a cover or two on the live one that is only available there or mix a solo up a bit, but it is 90%+ the same song. Your thread, your rules, though. Youinreverse
i think after the letters are done, there should be a best live albums category and a best compilation/soundtrack category. Albums that start with a number too. Like Wire's 154, Kanye's 808's, etc.
tomfiend
What about all of those great albums that start with a number? - there will be 27 rounds of voting, one for each letter, and a final one for albums starting with numbers, and I'll change the topic title to include which letter is being voted on for the day. mindless
alt + 0198 for Æ Thanks. Had to google how to type it in since I'm on a laptop. Æ Edit: But looking at the first post again, looks like it might be a moot point. No symbols just numbers after letters are done?

Derek™
Thrice's Vheissu actually had my vote - mentally - for the longest time. I was all about Thrice in high-school, and when Vheissu dropped in 2006, it was the first album that really knocked me on my ass. Granted, I was pretty musically naïve at that age, I sort of enjoyed how shocked I was by its unconventional direction. It was a critical album to my musical tastes at that time -- it was the album that taught me that I should never expect a specific sound from any artist, regardless of how much I loved them. It taught me that it's quite okay to not love a record immediately. It showed me the value of repeated, uninterrupted plays. And when it finally clicked, it really clicked. But eight years later, I simply don't enjoy it enough to call it a favorite V album. I skimmed my iTunes... and out of all the V albums I have, this is probably the one I'm most confident in calling a masterpiece. Even if it just dropped last year.
