thesecrets0308
Alright.. I will allow it. And I agree.. I want Superunknown. I'm hoping for a reissue soon. Moral to the story is to ALWAYS visit Phil's Records in Latonia from time to time. Apparently those guys don't always really look into how much an album is worth before they price it. I haven't seen a steal like that one since, but there's always a chance.

Not to derail this thread, but did you see his Facebook post about changing the store hours and having problems? That shop should be booming right now and he's struggling. Probably because it seems like he moves it every eighteen months.
rynflnnry
I spent $130 for The Fall of Troy's Self Titled. It's the friends press that is /10. It was expensive, but I haven't regretted it... Yet. No shame. I would do the same thing.... Post a pic of it?!

That shop should be booming right now and he's struggling. Probably because it seems like he moves it every eighteen months. It doesn't surprise me at all that they are struggling. Here's why: 1. The shop is run by old-timers that are not embracing the re-emergence of the vinyl format. They are running the shop as if it was still 1970. 2. furthermore, they HATE record store day and anything affiliated with it. they didn't even participate in black friday RSD. 3. i know you've said they have been nice to you each time you've been there, but that's not what i've encountered. they mope, long-faces, bitch and complain about everything and everyone. If they don't start accepting things for the way they are now, start being more pleasant people and START playing music in their store that is more inviting to people (particularly the younger crowd), they WILL continue to struggle and ultimately fail to keep the doors open. that's just my opinion though... bgdesign
Alright.. I will allow it. And I agree.. I want Superunknown. I'm hoping for a reissue soon. Found this for $20 about 3 years ago. This is why I always visit new shops before they over price things.
dolt
The rarest record I own: Lloyd Cole & The Commotions’ unreleased debut single, “Down At The Mission.” Not to be confused with “Down On Mission Street” from Rattlesnakes, this song never saw the light of day anywhere else. They were about to self-release it when they changed their minds, and they got a record deal soon after. The B-side was the demo to “Are You Ready To Be Heartbroken?” Nobody knows how many of these singles managed to leak out, but I’m sure glad to have it. Spent about $150 on it via mail order from the UK about 10 years ago, plus maybe $20 shipping.
museummouth
Unfortunately I regularly buy albums in the $80-$150 range.

monsterrod
I am so envious of that Jay Reatard test. Maybe not $375 envious, but still very envious.
enyfour5
Just spent $43 ppd for a TSSF/Maker 7'' split. To be honest it was totally worth it, and after researching prices $43 ppd is super cheap for that specific record! I know some of you probably don't think this is a high price, but for me it is, I mean it's a 7'' with 5 songs on it lol
TheGhostOfRandySavage
Single album? Probably about $50 or so. Box set? Whatever that Flaming Lips Heady Nugs box set was when it came out. $100 something, but spread across 5 albums, not so bad.
LS1BadBird
Wow, you guys make me feel better about myself. I think the most I've spent was around $60 for Everclear - So Much for the Afterglow from Germany.

cephcarn4
I would drop 2K for a Background music test press & i'd pay probably around 1,500 for a mosh camp with the schism back I ended up getting a background music test for 1500. glad the seller didn't see this thread
DecayToDeath
I just bought De-Loused in the Comatorium for $50. I've gotta save up more cash before I hunt for anything in the hundreds. I got the Beatles Box set for $292.97, which is the most I've ever spent on anything vinyl related. It cost more than my turntable (LP120). dvv
don't think i've spent more than $60 anywhere because of deals i've gotten from cool VC members
sethdavid
$150 for the translucent gold tour only press of The Devil and God :-/ Pretty sure that's the only thing I've spent over $100 on, but there's around 12 records that I've spent between $50-$75 on.
