dreamover
I just saw The Big Short. Such an important movie. I had no expectations and it caught me by surprise. It's funny, clever, heartbreaking, and unique.
NewOldStock
Blitzed through The Man In The High Castle on Amazon Prime. Odd one really. I like the premise of it a lot and from that front it's interesting. The execution (and some of the acting, oh God the acting!) wasn't the best. Will see what season 2 brings I suppose...! billya
I saw hateful eight in 70mm this morning and really enjoyed it. Overture, intermission and playbill program were all a nice touch. It all looked great in 70mm, even the lodge where it captured all the little nuances in such a small space. I think its only playing for a few more days so dont sleep on it. Glad to hear 70mm is worth it. I think it's running through the weekend. I really hope that I can find time to see it.

If you do make sure you show up on time. Zero previews and starts after the 3 minute overture. People were rolling in 15 late and thinking they missed the previews. Then realized it was sold out and had no good seats and missed the firsr 12 minutes of the movie.
NewOldStock
Just read the book A mad suggestion!! It's on the way from trusty Amazon Prime! Surprised I haven't picked it up before in fairness.
nick6ten
I posted this earlier on Facebook. Though I'd share here too. batman
Wife let me go see Hateful Eight this afternoon. Not my favorite Tarantino but I really enjoyed it. Some great, tense moments.

Bladewillisisdead
Visually it was gorgeous. 11/10 cinematography, 7/10 overall. So stoked to see this on Monday. Cinematography > everything
Bladewillisisdead
hachi: a dog's tale what a tearjerker... I hate that this made me cry. I knew the story going in, the movie was overally sappy and cheesey (which I hate), but then at the end...I'm still like "Nooooooooo :'("
thebilljim
So stoked to see this on Monday. Cinematography > everything In my opinion, it's the best looking QT film yet.
batman
Yeah the photography and dialogue were both fantastic. It was a little bit long though and over-indulgent (even for Tarantino). 7-8/10 is pretty accurate.
thebiglebowski
Didn't care very much for the hateful eight (and I love every other QT movie). It just develops way too slowly. I feel like there was a really good 2 hour movie in there if it was just edited down a bit.
billya
I saw Creed tonight. I enjoyed it. I'm seeing Hateful Eight tomorrow in 70mm. I'm excited for that experience.
deadreckoning
Anyone else checking out The Expanse on syfy? Interesting so far but only two episodes in personally. It has a lot of promise. Yeah. The 1st four episodes are online and just powered through them. I read the books so i was stoked on watching this. It's getting good. Not sure, if you read the 1st book, but it seems to be following it fairly faithfully. It's got it work cut out for it with trying to capture the complexity of the space-o-political climate and interpersonal relationships, while telling 3 "separate" stories at the start. However, i am pleased. I wasn't too thrilled on actor playing Holden at first, but he's growing on me. In the book Chrisjen swears up a storm, so sadly, we she wont be dropping any F-bombs on SyFy. The person who does her voice in the audiobook is awesome. There are only ten episodes in the season, so it should be an intense pace if they plan on covering all the main plot points in the whole 1st book. rooks
Watched Brooklyn, Burnt, and The Big Short this weekend. Burnt was fucking terrible. Brooklyn was a good romance/timeperiod movie. Big Short was jarring at first, but ultimately good. Just make sure you do what I did and get drunk while watching it. It will make you a little mad. batman
+1 for moon. ex machina is good sci-fi as well. I've been going back and watching a lot of mainstream sci-fi that I missed for whatever reason. terminator, robocop, total recall, starship troopers, etc. all good stuff. Breezus
Yeah, Moon and especially Ex Machina are fantastic films. And even though it's a TV series, I'd add Black Mirror to that list.

While a mini-series, Black Mirror fits well with that theme
