filthyrich
Good to know Trent still has the ability to piss folks off. Very excited to see him up close/personal in a couple months.....
ntslash
Is this really the official video? Isn't Trent a little old for them?
chunkrock
It's not official. The youtube page has a link to the original video. They just added the NIN song to it.
tonyfranciosa
this leaked finally... "Everything" is totally a NIN song. Yeah, the chorus is a bit more melodic than usual for him, but the song is arguably the heaviest on the album (which is surprisingly mellow). Good stuff. markok
A lot of the songs remind The Knife - Shaking The Habitual album (songs like "Full of Fire" and "Networking" for example) - some of the sample sounds and beats sound exactly the same. thesecrets0308
It reminds me more of The Fragile than anything. Lots of beat-driven songs, eerily similar to the tracks on The Fragile disc 2. I'm even starting to latch onto "Everything". It really helps to hear the album as a whole. Definitely getting this one on vinyl, I dig it. roadmonkey
For those who hate itunes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5f8CAC88bU8 Note: the huge gaps in between songs are on purpose. you can just click on the time next to the song to get to the next one. Well those link are displyed when you play the video in youtube lol!
firefoxUSSR
ignored this after hearing the single... must say this is more my flavor of NIN
topher
I'm old-fashioned, so I'm gonna wait until I buy it to hear it in it's entirety. But I like what I'm hearing from you guys. The Fragile is by far my favorite 'Nails album, and if there's any resemblance, it's gotta be good.
roadmonkey
Remember when people were saying The Slip was like The Fragile... just saying.
daegor
Remember when people were saying The Slip was like The Fragile... just saying. I don't remember that no, mostly because it's not, at all, haha. There are (strong) notes of The Fragile, With Teeth, and Year Zero, with an overall spattering of the PHM style electronics for good measure. gumbercules
I listened to this once earlier and was not reminded of the Fragile whatsoever. I did quite enjoy it though.
jhulud
I wanted to wait til I had the actual release on hand to listen to it, but I buckled. Listened to the iTunes stream twice already and I have to admit that I like it. A lot. Being into NIN since PHM came out (yeah, I am that old!) and become slightly jaded with some of the material, I was pleasantly surprised with HM. It's an interesting mixture of sounds and textures from TDS and TF with a more current (in Reznor's terms) borderline pop sound. And being in the middle of the album, you'd think that "Everything" would stick out, but it actually works as a sort of transition into the second half and creates a different feel. jvphotoandvideo
Loving this album. Anyone read the Spin article? It's a good read. http://www.spin.com/featured/trent-reznor-upward-spiral-nine-inch-nails-spin-cover-september-2013/?utm_source=spinfacebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=spinfacebook Adam10647

kidamnesiac
Awesome interview. A+ Reznor quote: "I'm not saying offering things for free or pay-what-you-can is wrong. I'm saying my personal feeling is that my album's not a dime. It's not a buck. I made it as well as I could, and it costs 10 bucks, or go fuck yourself." thesecrets0308
Anyone else hear some Prince influence in the track "Satellite"? I love this album more and more with each listen. Love Reznor's comment about putting up 10 bucks or go fuck yourself. I expect to put up at least $25 for the vinyl. And I'm pissed that I have to drive to either Cleveland or Nashville to catch a show from the tour... why not Cincinnati, or even Indianapolis or Columbus... damn. kidamnesiac
Interesting. They are releasing an alternate "Audiophile" digital master of the album that differs from the retail CD/Digital formats. http://nineinchnails.tumblr.com/post/59587808317/hesitation-marks-was-mastered-in-two-different
