drds89
4 hrs to Delaware venue. I don't know if I have enough brownie points with the Mrs. to get away for that one, but have to try to see LITE before I die! (Jakob points might trump LITE though, so I wish I knew what they were up to re: touring here in the States). The End of the Ocean 'stole' away some of Sunlight Ascending's talent - interesting dynamics there. Got to see them at the Camel in Richmond last year and enjoyed them immensely. Such nice folks, like Shy, Low.

mrewest
Looks like NOMADS is also opening the LITE show. Haven't listened to them much but dig what I heard. Watching LITE from last year's Arctangent has me reeeeal pumped about this one.
drds89
I think I would make one hell of a drive to catch Jakob in the U.S. Tides Of Man, Audiotree. They are the real deal. Listened to their back cat - dang, what a transformation! One of my favorite Audiotrees already, next to Caspian Waking Season. http://arcticdrones.com/watch/tides-of-man-audiotree/

Instrumental bands kill it on those Audiotree sessions. Loved the Cloudkicker shoutout too!

mrewest
That's it. I'm moving to Europe. These fesitvals they have over there disgust me. Dunk Festival is batshit ridiculous... omik11303 and drds89
drds89
That's it. I'm moving to Europe. These fesitvals they have over there disgust me. Dunk Festival is batshit ridiculous... Every year Dunk! gets better just when you think they couldn't arrange a more amazing lineup. No US version of Dunk! for sure. Too old to do those 3 day festival campouts, but this is sure tempting...

I "joke" with my brother about doing a Kickstarter so I can fund one of these over here haha.

parkinglot
What's everyone's opinion on Valtari? "It's good, but doesn't compare to ( ), Agaetis, or Takk"? I've been listening to it non stop and might even place it second behind ( ), even though it kind of lacks in the huge crescendos and climaxes. And the piano in Varoeldur...oh my god. batman
valtari is near the top for me. have you seen the short films? definitely worth checking out http://www.sigur-ros.co.uk/valtari/videos/ especially these: leaning toward solace (dec 6th) and fjogur piano (june 18th). oh man the feels. eight1echo
I've been enjoying the hell out of this record lately. Some vocals but I think a lot of people in this thread would dig it: http://lantlos.bandcamp.com/album/melting-sun-

drds89
I've been enjoying the hell out of this record lately. Some vocals but I think a lot of people in this thread would dig it: http://lantlos.bandcamp.com/album/melting-sun-2 there are quite a few of us here who have gotten in the newgaze and all of it's variations, and this one definitely has some postrock direction and all clean vox, well away from its post-blackmetal origins. I can't remember if anyone posted this in the Shoegaze thread but remember it dropping last year and all the speculation with Neige being (amicably) told his services were not needed anymore (lol) My favorite track didn't make it onto the album: http://vimeo.com/93943224
drds89
Valtari sounded too 'ambient' to me the first listen, but it's absolutely other-worldly, and like Batman wrote, if you haven't watched the videos, definitely put it on the bucket list for this year. Trying to compare or rank SR albums for me is an exercise in futility.

Derek™
I've been enjoying the hell out of this record lately. Some vocals but I think a lot of people in this thread would dig it: http://lantlos.bandcamp.com/album/melting-sun-2 The cleanliness of the vocals still throw me off from time to time, but overall they're well-done and the only blemish I can find on that album. Really, really good record. I picked it up on vinyl not too long ago, actually. I think Melting Sun is far and away better than the rest of their material, personally.
