wbhendrix
This thread is like porn to me. Little man was born and needed a bedroom so now I have the bay front window area of my condo for my records which I affectionately refer to as my "music nook". I'm pretty sure I've posted a similar picture on here but I've since added shelving, posters, and chotchkies, so here's it is one final time. I have a wonderful music room. I also just found out we are having twins. My music room now has a shelf life.... Pun intended lol GreatGreenOne77

mappingtheyears
As long as the shelves are mounted to the wall with brackets, I think it should be fine. Although I'm not sure how much I'd trust it sitting on top of another shelving unit... that is a lot of weight.
ajhall04
I have a wonderful music room. I also just found out we are having twins. My music room now has a shelf life.... Pun intended lol Dude, good luck. It's worth it though. My gal is 4, and she is growing out her room so fast. I have the bonus room, plus we have a guest room. It's only a matter of time before she takes over the bonus room. Congrats on twins! wbhendrix

warhenrecords
It's actually two 2x2 Expedits (placed the right way) with a 4x4 Kallax on top. All mounted to the wall. Very sturdy. Also I can't move it to a different spot in the room, as the wood on the left is actually a sliding barn door that is closed. I tried a shitload of different configurations to make it all work and this was the best option. Had to squeeze a piano on the other side of the room for my lady. mappingtheyears
Yeah, space limitations can be a real bitch sometimes. I've been tempted to flip my 2x4 Kallax upright to save space in my room, and my back. I'm kind of tired of squatting down or kneeling down every time I want to grab a record. Once I'm all finished settling down in my new place, I'll get around to posting a picture of my setup. I'm still trying to figure out which configuration works best in my room. I feel you on the space limit issue. I keep re-arranging my stuff and would like to flip mine upright as well, but it's lengthwise to accommodate my components to avoid shelving or a component rack. I keep re-arranging my stuff and would like to flip mine upright as well, but it's lengthwise to accommodate my components to avoid shelving or a component rack. Exactly. That's the only thing preventing me from flipping it up right now. I have an old 2x2 Expedit that I could probably throw next to the 2x4 and it would fit/look alright, but I'd still have to find a spot for my preamp and speakers because those 2x2s aren't super big. I guess I could throw my turntable up on top of the 2x4 (which comes up to about my chin when flipped upright), but then I'd kind of be reaching to place records on the platter, and I wouldn't want to accidentally bump the stylus or anything like that. I am incredibly jealous of everyone who has an entire room dedicated to their music collection. One day. GreatGreenOne77

I was just showing my step son what a set up cost another board member had posted. I think he blew a seal when he realized 3 components could cost near $5k lol

GreatGreenOne77
I posted a while back, but after that I kept over analyzing what I wasn't happy with until I changed everything around to my liking, I think... Getting some of my framed gig posters up was nice as they have been in storage for a while now. Small apartments don't help when you're trying to make a specific "nook", but I tried... dailyhifi and thesewoodenideas
just a normal guy kevin
New apartment, new storage set up. I wanted to have front facing LP storage but I didn't have $4,000 to spend on a sleek, well-designed front-facing storage unit (or the space to tinker on a build-your-own, self-designed unit) so I went minimal with my white crates on top of a bench/flat space. Function achieved. Closer look at actual playing station. Most listening done via headphones. Small Bluetooth speaker for occasions when my vibe is #cooking. Expedit re-purposed & re-imagined as a non-LP storage unit- books, random stuff, DVDs. Works excellent for my lower level, casual collector needs. iron666monkey
My turntable set up and half of my collection. What headphones do you use or prefer? Headphones are definitely more conducive to apartment living. I have a pair of Sennheiser 598 phones with a 25 foot cord extension, so I can listen on the couch or at the dining table while I work. It might also reach the bathroom but I've yet to actually try it out.

inlimbo
Nothing special. Probably gonna replace those A5's with Wharfedale Dentons with some stands, have a couple stacks of LPs hiding throughout the room I could put in those two cubes where the speakers are. ehansen18, passionbrand, DC1221 and 4 others
