Le Gogh
Ok, so I MAY be jumping the gun a bit here, but Baroness have started teasing on Facebook and Instagram about what is likely their new album. They've been known to be recording for a while now, but it seems like they're gearing up to make some sort of announcement soon. Yesterday we had this, with the words "Any colour you like": And then just a moment ago this, with no explanation: emacs and Mourning Wood

mattycakes
I tried to give Green/Yellow it's fair due but just not into it. Hope they bounce back here. buddha4281, scottyrobotty and Derek™
birdwell
Yellow is the only thing they've put out that I don't enjoy every single track I also hope this album grabs me in a positive way
Twistedshabazz
I personally think yellow/green is great. Few songs that fell flat but you will have that with a double album like that. They have yet to let me down.
elvismcvegas
Hell yeah, Cant wait. I'm more jealous of the singers drawing ability that his singing. You cant be better at drawing and music than me, thats just not fair.
steeltoeagogo
I tried to give Green/Yellow it's fair due but just not into it. Hope they bounce back here. Agreed. They're fantastic regardless so I'm excited to see what lies ahead.
clerk3745
I thought I heard them say the were done with the whole color thing? Regardless, call it "Poobrown" for all I care. I'll preorder it and love it.
twatay
Fucking love this band. My most anticipated record of the year by far. Mourning Wood
Guest
Where should I start with this band? Chronologically? I have been meaning to delve into their stuff for years but always end up putting it off.
scottheisel
Where should I start with this band? Chronologically? I have been meaning to delve into their stuff for years but always end up putting it off. The farther back you go, the more straight-up metal it gets (like, the first two EPs and their split with Unpersons is pretty metal). Red and Blue are just fucking triumphant hard rock, if you ask me, and Yellow & Green is a little more in the modern rock/Queens Of The Stone Age-type direction. Guest
Awesome, thanks for the answer, Scott. Going to throw some of their stuff on my phone when I get a chance.
Twistedshabazz
Tower falls off of first is a fucking beast. Hell of a song. I wish they played it live more/ever anymore. Seeing them when first second came out was some of the most fun ive had at shows.
Freki
Where should I start with this band? Chronologically? I have been meaning to delve into their stuff for years but always end up putting it off. Goddamn I love them all. Even though Yellow & Green probably has my favorite moments, Blue or Red would probably be better to start with since they're 1/2 as long. Derek™
Awesome, thanks for the answer, Scott. Going to throw some of their stuff on my phone when I get a chance. I know it's probably not the answer that all Baroness fanboys will agree with, but you really don't need anything beyond Blue Record or Red Album. Both are masterpieces, but I struggle to get into anything else. Definitely stop after Blue, though.

This is a pretty perfect concise assessment. I love the Red and Blue material and I love the First/Second/Third (Unpersons split) stuff. Yellow & Green is my least favorite but still generally great Rock. Each of the three eras has its own feel. I say start from the beginning and go all the way through. Derek™
Disagree, my dude. Green is my favorite. I can respect your opinion, but you're literally the only person I've met who shares that stance. More power to you, though; that record doesn't get a lot of love.
Guest
I appreciate the input and glad it kicked off this sort of civil debate. There's about four people in this thread alone who I know somewhat share my taste in music. I feel like this will be a band I will end up liking. Le Gogh
Yeah I cant say Green is my favourite, but Green Theme and Board Up The House are both great songs, regardless of whether or not they're as heavy as their earlier work. museummouth
I love all their albums. Yellow was incredible IMO. Green was a bit lackluster.
Twistedshabazz
In theory green/yellow should have just been one record. Cut out like 5 of those songs and you have a well rounded album.

Yellow Theme 2. Take My Bones Away 3. March To The Sea 4. Cocanium 5. Eula 6. Board Up The House 7. Psalms Alive 8. Stretchmarker 9. The Line Between 10. Green Theme Now that's an album. whoshotthefrog
We may all have different opinions about which album(s) we think are the best, but i think we all can agree that "The Sweetest Curse" is their best opening song of all their albums. (I excluded "Bullhead's Psalm" because that's almost filler to me.)
