TFP
Just a heads up: Everyone saying you were born in the 90s...you're not a 90s kid. You're a 2000s kid . If you were born in the 90s you missed out on a good portion of that decade. While this may make "sense" it is not true. My brother was born in 1990 and has plenty of memories I helped him make and he loved the music from the '90's. Some of his fondest memories are of his PlayStation 1 and SNES and Third Eye Blind. So what Randy Savage said is all just exclusivity talking. I was born in '84 so I was at the prime age 6 to experience Home Alone and the Ninja Turtles movies. If my brother was born in 1990 he was 6 --in the '90's-- and remembers plenty about being a kid in the '90's. cambionic
Guest
Just wait until the kids now get older and talk about how much credibility they have for being 2000+ kids. It's all seen with rose-tinted glasses...

If my brother was born in 1990 he was 6 --in the '90's-- and remembers plenty about being a kid in the '90's. I'll tell you why I think this, and it isn't just "exclusivity" talking. You only really get to start experiencing childhood around 6. Up to that point, people are pretty much telling you what to do/watch/listen to, etc. You don't get to make choices for yourself and I'd hazard to say many of us have very few memories before the age of 6. That said, anyone born in '90 or a later year didn't get to experience a full half of the decade. So your brother was born in '90, he really missed out until '96, and was only able to experience 4 years of the 90's tops. I don't think you can truly be considered a child of any decade that you missed out on over half of.He was 10 in 2000, so he fully experienced the 2000s as a child. He had 6 years of childhood in the early 2000's (8 if you count through 18, but I really count childhood as 6-16. Obviously this is just an opinion, but I think it is one a lot of people share. Anyone born early in a decade is always going to be in that weird in between eras spot though, as they get a little bit of both decades as a child. Just seems to me these people actually experienced more of their childhood in the 2000s, and therefore would be considered a child of the 2000s. kurtz
museummouth
I was born in 90 and have a lot of memories from the first half of the decade. I was huge into Ninja Turtles and don't tell me that being 7 when Pokemon first came out wasn't perfect.

Just seems to me these people actually experienced more of their childhood in the 2000s, and therefore would be considered a child of the 2000s. I have pretty vivid memories between the ages of 2-5. I would say I experienced the culture of the 90's as much as anyone born a few years prior. If anything, I'd say I probably remember more of the mid-late 90's than I do the 2000's. I do agree that there's a difference between a "90's kid" and a "90's baby" but it's hard to generalize based on birth year alone. I'd say if you were born in '95 or later theres really not much to debate, what conscious memories of the zeitgeist could you possibly have? TFP
I think Randy Savages recent argument can make sense for those born in 1995 on. That makes more sense. Those born from 1990-1992 I think can still be considered a "true '90's kid" - right on the cusp. I have seen this argument before on Instagram, people can get heated, haha. TheGhostOfRandySavage
Yeah, I really don't care that much to be honest. The 90s were fine, but no better than any other time. Not sure why people get so obsessed with certain eras in the first place

Bladewillisisdead
I remember every year of the 90s and shit got real weird around like 98. I've decided 1998 is the worst year.
radiatorhums
Yeah, I really don't care that much to be honest. The 90s were fine, but no better than any other time. Not sure why people get so obsessed with certain eras in the first place I think it's because it has to do with a lot with identity to some. Saying 'hey, you're not really a 90s/80s/whatever kid' is attacking (for lack of a better work) their identity. That's my take on it anyway. I was born in the early 80s, but I don't feel like that's a core part of who I am.

Shitty Rambo
The weekend I spent at my friends house, and came home to my mom having found my stash That looming fear. In retrospect it's kind of a bullshit thing to get in trouble for. If you have a son he's 100% going to spank it in your home. If anything she should have simply left you a smash container of petroleum jelly and a bottle of gatorade next to your stash. Maybe a small note that says 'please put down a trash bag'. That and gangsta rap CD's. Whenever my mom yelled, "Jeffery!" my heart panicked that she found my stash.
