somethingvinyl
Imagine being a person who got it free from Rev in the 80's like this guy. He retells the story in the listing. Then he sells it for $1,300. Now whoever paid that in 2005 can sell it for 5-6K!http://www.popsike.com/ORIG-JUDGE-CHUNG-KING-WHITE-VINYL-LP-REV-SXE-HARDCORE/4723427667.html

casinonightzone
I had Chung King #65. I bought it for $1400 i forget when. I sold it about 5 years later for $3500, in 2009. I should have held out a few more years. Pretty sure a CT dude bought one recently for about $6500

just a normal guy kevin
Other than surfing high-end auction listings or memorizing the list of rare record legends, how does one keep afloat on seemingly random LPs that look like they're worth $2 and are worth $2,000? cephcarn4
I bet a majority of the board has absolutely no clue what this record is & if offered a free copy of this or the RSD Deja Entendu they would take Deja in a heartbeat opivy, hzielaskowski, imaxcowboyx and 1 other
xxmartinxx
I thought it was silly when this record sold for $500. I can't even wrap my mind around $6000.

throughbeingcruel
I absolutely love hardcore but have never given Judge a listen for some reason. Good starting point?
Sidney Crosley
I had never heard of this album/band until this was posted. I grew up a bit in the punk/HC scene but never really got into it to the point that I'd know about this. But I think similar situations can be said for a lot of other genres/microgenres, where there are 'holy grails' that most people wouldn't have a clue about. One of them I read about recently is Bent Wind's Sussex (they were a psych-folk/proto-punk band from Toronto from the late 60s who self-released one album before disappearing). The last copy sold went for $3000 about 8-10 years ago, and I imagine one would fetch double if it were listed right now. The story about it here: http://psychedome.blogspot.ca/2009/05/bent-wind-complete-history-commentary.html(my favourite part is how the lead singer sold his last two copies for enough money to take himself on vacation...glad he got a payout from it!). kurt
it recently sold for 6k on ebay. Fun fact: IIRC: Seb from Just Another Day Records sold one of his three copies of Chung King to fund the pressing of the Out to Sea 7". This was back in 2009 I suppose.
