Secret Santa 2015. Update: Dec 16 .... Please Read.

Recommended Posts

I've been slacking, sorry SS...

My name is Zach, I'm 28 years old, and am currently living in the booming metropolis of Beaumont, TX (about an hour and a half east of Houston). I have two cats, a maine coon named Archimedes, and a dilute calico named Kairi. My wife and I are expecting twin girls at the end of the year.

Music: I've been really into instrumental/ambient stuff lately and unfortunately my tradelist isn't very up to date, or a very good majority representation of the style of music that I'm into. Here's a list of records I'd like or I'll list VC user Derek as my reference--he'd definitely know some good recommendations. I'm not currently buying records, so you don't have to worry about me picking any of these up. Max Richter (anything but the blue notebooks), Arms & Sleepers (anything but Cinematique), Ancients - Star Showers on the Euphrates, anything by Dustin O'Halloran except Piano Solos Vol 2, Eluvium/Jesu split, anything by Helios except Eingya, anything by Kyle Bobby Dunn except & the Infinite Sadness, Nils Frahm - Screws or Solo. Sonic Pieces, Erased Tapes, Denovali releases, or really anything in the same vein of modern classical/ambient/instrumental goodness. Sorry, I'll try to update my tradelist soon, but hopefully this gets you going in the right direction.

Film: I'm a big fan of Criterion release blu-rays or good art-house films. Here's my collection for an idea of what I'm into: https://www.criterion.com/my_criterion/93879-batmanofbaylor/collection

I'm also really into Hayao Miyazaki animated films and we're doing a pink/green/grey Totoro themed nursery. We're already pretty loaded w/ Totoro plushies, but anything cool/unique to put on the walls or dresser would be awesome.

Video games: I've been hugely addicted to the Dark Souls series lately (namely Dark Souls 1). I'd love anything related to that. Favorite characters are Artorias/Sif and Solaire.

Hope this helps, please have the mod contact me if you have any questions or need anymore info!

Hi, I'm Jacob.  I'm turning 24 on November 15th.  I feel like I'm writing my OKCupid profile.

I am a web developer and build websites and stuff for a living.  I live in Connecticut, in a big house with a few friends / bandmates.  We play a lot of ping pong here.  I'm vegan and straight edge and love love to cook.  I've been making bangin sushi and deepfrying tofu often as of late.

Here is a list of my top played artists, which I guess is accurate.  http://www.last.fm/user/skankandmosh/library/artists?date_preset  My trade list is here: http://jacobraccuia.com/records.php I listen to a lot of post rock because it's perfect music.  The band I play in is ska, and I play tenor saxophone.  I've also seen Brand New way too many times.  In terms of records I am looking for, I only own one Mogwai record and that makes me sad.

I really like anime - anything Ghibli, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, Avatar the Last Airbender / Korra, Sword Art Online, Adventure Time, etc.  I have an ATLA tattoo and two ghibli tattoos so far..

I've been playing a lot of MTG lately, and have like 8 binders with the cards in order.  I'm hoping to somehow, one day, complete sets of cards by getting them really cheap from people who lost interest in the game.  Although I have like 3000-4000 cards, most of them are just duplicates of the most commons so I really don't have anything too cool.

I used to game a bit - I play runescape from time to time, and Halo 4.  I'm really hoping to get Halo 5 and an xbox one, but it's hard to justify 500 dollars for one game..............

I have maybe 10 posters in tubes that I need to frame and hang up, but everything is so expensive and I think I'm better off selling most of them.

I hope this helps maybe, possibly, a little bit.

Hello everyone, my name is Jeff and I'm an alc-  oh wait, wrong meeting.

ABOUT ME:

For music, I have a rather wide range of taste with a penchant for the macabre and experimental.  I collect all sorts of soundtracks - anything from cheesy 80s horror to 60s porno to modern classics.  I listen to pretty much anything other than music with the "pop" pre- or suffix (including pop country, pop punk [with some exceptions], pop rap... pretty much pop in general) and EDM.  Outside of those few exclusions, I listen to pretty much everything - classical, grindcore, world music, hiphop, etc.  My all time favorite band is Ween, of which I own nearly every one of their studio albums and singles.

Here's my discogs collection.

Film/TV: I enjoy animated comedy (Rick & Morty, all adult_swim, Bob's Burgers, Adventure Time, Regular Show, Beavis and Butthead, Ren n Stimpy, Daria, etc.) and comedy shows (Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Peep Show, Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Maron, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Louie, etc.).  My favorite film of all time is Eraserhead - I've seen it, no hyperbole, over 100 times.  Another one of my all time favorite films is It's Such A Beautiful Day by Don Hertzfeldt.  After that I could rattle off a dozen or so directors: Scorsese, Kubrick, Tarantino, Hitchcock, Bakshi, Fincher, Nolan, Polanski, Smith, Anderson, Scott, Cronenberg, Coen Brothers, etc.

Books: I love Bukowski.  Chuck Palahniuk, Stephen King, David Foster Wallace, Bret Easton Ellis, Aldous Huxley, William Gibson, Neal Stephenson, Neil Gaiman, Carlton Mellick III, George Orwell, Franz Kafka, Cormac McCarthy, Mark Z. Danielewski, Roald Dahl, Douglas Adams, David Wong, Kurt Vonnegut, William S Burroughs, Ken Kesey,Thomas Pynchon, David Sedaris, and a lot more that I can't think of right now.

I enjoy nonfiction by Douglas Hofstadter, Oliver Sacks, Brian Greene, and Uncle Fester.

I am not a fan of sports unless I have a bet on it - then I'll cheer for snail races if there's money involved.

My favorite color is brick red (-ish).

I don't drink alcohol, don't like dark chocolate, don't like green apple flavored anything.

I like my steak rare, earthy teas/kombucha, black coffee, pizza, sushi, Thai/Cambodian food, and anything extremely spicy.  Sriracha is a favorite of mine.

My shirt size is Medium.

I enjoy riding my hybrid bike on half-centuries around twice a week.  I'm a behavioral neuroscience student, looking to get into research for grad school.  I collect weird art, particularly by local/unknown/undiscovered artists.  I also make my own weird art - including sculpture, collage, painting, pen & ink, and blood.  I play bass and guitar, drums, keys, theremin, and kazoo.  I produced chill hiphop beats a few years back, did some (surprisingly popular) noise projects, and now I record folky tunes, sludge/doom metal, experimental hiphop, noise, and psychedelic hardcore punk.  I write poetry and short fiction in my spare time.  I do standup comedy several times a week. I am a hopeless romantic. I collect enamel pins, my collection is veering on 50 right now.  I collect underground comix from the 60s (R Crumb in particular). I collect patches.  I am a rabid supporter of the underground art scene.

ABOUT YOU:

You're pretty cool.  ;)

Hi, my name is Scott.

Things that frequently make me happy: my wife, my dog, my record collection, my beard, '90s emo, pizza, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Twitter, mowing the lawn, the WWE Network

My favorite bands: Weezer, Jimmy Eat World, Alkaline Trio, No Knife, Braid, the Get Up Kids

My favorite movies: High Fidelity, That Thing You Do!

My favorite pro wrestlers: CM Punk, Ric Flair, Vader, Kevin Owens, Mick Foley, Bret Hart, Brock Lesnar

I don't read very much fiction. Much more interested in nonfiction/autobiographies, especially music-related.

My car has a cassette deck in it so I'm loving the recent trend of albums being released on that format. (Who wants to pre-order me that Braid cassette boxset?)

Shirt size: 3XL

Two things I absolutely hate: coffee, coconut

ABOUT ME

My name is
[CENSORED]I'm 30 (yeesh), and I have an awesome little 3 year old dude. Early this year I quit my job as a Call Centre Manager in [CENSORED] (my home town) and hauled ass to [CENSORED] ([CENSORED]!).

I have super weird selective taste in everything, especially music. Here is my collection: http://www.discogs.c...ion?user=Daegor and my wantlist: http://www.discogs.c...ist?user=Daegor. I am only obsessed with a very select few bands, (The Chariot/'68, Klayton/Celldweller/Circle of Dust/Etc, Blindside, Norma Jean, Zao, Nine Inch Nails), and am not a variant collector. I rarely listen to the radio, so chances are if it isn't on my want/have list, or last.fm (http://www.last.fm/user/Daegor) then I probably haven't heard them before, but I am always eager to consume more music.

I like TV shows like Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Craig Ferguson, Brooklyn 99, movies like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Fight Club, and other such mind trip movies, but really will like nearly any movie for one reason or another (Pixar movies and gems like How to Train Your Dragon, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, etc).

I love microbreweries, GOOD liquor, etc.

I like to read, mostly sci-fi stuff like Philip K Dick, Isaac Asimov, Frank Herbert.

Yup.

Hey Santa!

The name is Kellen. I am 29 and currently reside in Orlando, FL  with my girlfriend. We both work for Disney. I moved down from Cleveland, OH a little more than a year ago for this job and have been loving every second of it.

My top two favorite bands (in order) are Motion City Soundtrack and The Wonder Years. After them I enjoy Twenty One Pilots, blink 182, Fun., All Time Low, Bayside, Neck Deep, A Day to Remember, Fall Out Boy (not as much on their reboot), My Chemical Romance, etc etc etc. Beyond this I also love Broadway, some of favorite shows include Heathers the Musical, Avenue Q, Book of Mormon, American Idiot the Musical, Spring Awakening, Rocky Horror, and others.

Movies I enjoy include Nightmare Before Christmas (all time favorite), Waynes World, Back to the Future (the best trilogy) Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Empire Records, and of course anything Disney.

Sports - I am a huuuuge baseball fan. I also enjoy football and then basketball. My favorite teams are of course Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavs. I also love the X-Games. I used to ski a lot but that slowed down during college and of course has stopped since moving down to Florida.

Other Things  - I dont read as much as I should. I love Disney, The Haunted Mansion is my favorite attraction down here. I am obsessed with Nightmare Before Christmas. Eventually I will be getting a tattoo combining Mansion and Nightmare. My girlfriend and I are pin traders down here and have recently begun getting much more into it. During the past year I have also been (slowly) collecting Pop Vinyl figures. My collection is up to 18 right now. I have a huge sweet tooth. I dont drink beer at all but do enjoy rum and vodka. I havent been playing video games a lot during the past year. Eventually I want to get a PS4 and that might get me a bit more back into gaming.

I am insanely jealous of you. I am convinced that owning a successful record shop or working at Walt Disney World would be the best jobs ever. My wife and I did the keys to the kingdom tour on our honeymoon in February, and I was so jealous of the tour guide. What a great job. I'm gonna PM you every time they do a limited pin release now! (Just kidding, unless you'd really hook me up.)

Hello Secret Santa,

You look lovely today. I'm great, thanks for asking.

I'm an Art Director and lately, Content Strategy and User Experience consultant. Which means I design things but spend a lot of time talking about how to design things and what we should be designing in the first place. I do it at a place I hate and will be quitting shortly, but for now that place is in Vermont. Thus, I'm a big Bruins fan, a moderate Red Sox fan and I guess sort of a Patriots fan by default, though I don't follow football too closely. I'm also a big, big US National Team soccer fan, don't miss a game. I pull for Everton in the Premier League as well.

Aside from work I am a very amateur photographer, enjoy good beer (and honestly, bad beer ain't too shabby either ) and silver tequila. I have a 15 month old daughter who is very active, so I spend a lot of time chasing her around. The rest of the time goes into Xbox. I'm a size Large shirt. I don't have a favorite color because I'm an adult.

I like a lot of different genres of music, though things with a loose blues influence that sound heavy or depressing a sort of a common theme. Favorites pulled indiscriminately from my Spotify work playlists, in no particular order, include: Mugison, Timber Timbre, Peder, American Sharks, All Them Witches, Black Pistol Fire, The Giraffes, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, Brown Bird, The Devil Makes Three, Haunted Windchimes.  Whores, Baroness, Fight Amp, Slow Warm Death, DFA1979, The Bronx, The Kills, '68, The Sword, Murder by Death, Queens of the Stone Age and the last Arctic Monkeys album.

My discogs is here: http://www.discogs.com/user/jeffersonhowell/collection

Not perfectly up-to-date, but reasonably close. Thanks for being my Santa.
