KevinShishko
i went to ship out records the other day at a post office i haven't used before for records. i told them i wanted to do it through media mail but they said media mail is intended for "education and learning purposes only" and refused to let me send it that way. as 95% of the records i receive are through media mail i was pretty pissed since clearly that's not the policy everywhere else. has this been a problem for anyone else?? this post office is super close to my house and most convenient so i'm gonna be pissed if they give me crap about it every time i try to send out records. they also claim anyone else who has have been shipping records through media mail are "cheating the system" so i was just wondering if there's any way around this. i know i can lie about what's in the package but as far as i know of they have permission to open the package and i feel like that would cause more kinds of trouble. alogical
the post office left in my town, which only has 3 workers now, encourages me to ship media mail. Even though it is less expensive for me, they tell me it's the best option. Kind of funny considering the USPS is going down the shitter. moonbeams
213041284s
That's bullshit the USPS website states that music is also acceptable for MEDIA mail. Just print it out and show it to your PO ketchupnmustud and genericvinylreference

companyinkrecs
I was rejected once for shipping records with sunglasses and I print my own labels with stamps.com. Thought I'd sneak one by them since it was 50 records. They won. 6heart6breaker6

nobodybrokeurheart
yeah i've researched this before. it's odd. there's a sign in my PO stating media mail is used for well.... media. records, cds, digital drives, whatever. however the usps website clearly states its for educational material only. they always think i'm mailing books......... idk why. i use media mail for records and thats it. i shipped an assload of CDs recently and boy was i tempted to try it through media mail. decided best not to. mrc
the only thing they refused to let me mail with media mail was Zines/magazines because it had paid advertisements in them. Music, text books, regular books... is all perfectly fine to mail via media.

tre
We had a box opened, inspected and returned to us because it was a box of 7" covers only. It was shipped with 3 other boxes media, which all made it unopened. They are on that shit sometimes.

smailtronic
The post office closest to my house in Baton Rouge wouldn't let me ship records as media mail, but the post office downtown, by my office, had no problems with it.

Aych
I've only been refused media mail one time, but I told the clerk I had sent records with media mail before and the clerk next to her (whom I had seen before) confirmed this. The record was sent. I guess it really just depends on the people at the post office location.
