nancy_raygun
In other news, the US stock market tanks and the value of the peso plummets. And I in my optimism neglected to buy short either. But between this and Brexit, Michael Lewis has another bestseller already written for him.

I sure as hell didn't vote for Trump or Hillary, tonight, but I strongly feel as though the country would be equally fucked [in perhaps slightly varying positions] regardless of who won. It's a massive lose-lose and I guess I'm just a little exhausted from the never-ending buzz of "lol RIP America" and "well it was a good run but I guess we're getting nuked tomorrow #thankstrump" drivel. It's almost like an opposing party has never spoken up when their candidate has lost, and everyone's collectively losing their shit about it. To reiterate, I don't endorse Trump in the least, and I'm confident he'll do more bad than good for our country... but I don't imagine those feelings would waver too much if Hillary had won. I specifically lay low on Facebook and allow ~12 friends' status updates to appear in my feed – just to avoid shit-storms like tonight – but I'm actually baffled by the amount of artists, labels, and bands who've taken to FB to predict the spontaneous collapse of America. It's cool if anyone disagrees with this post. At the end of the day I just think we're all fucked regardless of how many states turn red or blue on a map, and I guess I'm a little fatigued by the sheer amount of doom-and-gloom that's permeating every surface of the internet tonight. boops_popmarket
I voted for Bush when I was 18 and it's embarrassing now. I imagine there will be a generation of young dudes who, in 10-15 years, who feel the same about this vote. We were wrong that something this ridiculous wouldn't happen. We lost! stl_ben and The Vool

For sure, I totally get what you're saying. Although I will say that I was impressed with Clinton during the debates. And though I voted for McCain during the 2008 elections and went thru the same doom-n-gloom back then, I came to respect Obama as a president and ultimately I find him to be very inspiring. I'm disappointed ultimately that a candidate will take office that feels the opposite and doesn't intend to continue his legacy. 4 minutes ago, rds said: I voted for Bush when I was 18 and it's embarrassing now. It happens to the best of us. I'm incredibly embarrassed to say that during the 08 election I voted yes on Prop 8 in CA. Fortunately for my dumb young me that vote was overturned by the supreme court. futures

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Bernie was not going to beat Trump. No one was after that turnout. Trump pulled in voters in Rural America who have not voted recently or ever. He won because he got rural PA and rural Florida and rural Wisconsin and rural Michigan. Hillary and Bernie were NEVER going to get those votes. People saying Bernie would have gotten more millenial votes, yeah, he would have, but he would not have gotten the moderate conservatives that HRC did, who might have ended up voting for Trump instead. It would have been 4 months of Commie Sanders or Socialist Bernie instead of Crooked Hillary. Our system works, we may not like the outcome because it doesn't align to our beliefs or hopes or wishes, but it works because EVERYONE has a voice, and I dont think any election result could be more evident of that than this one. This election sure does seem to have a Nader effect in swing states, I don't really believe that 3rd party votes swayed this election one way or the other, but it certainly will be talked about ad nausea for the next decade at least. Hillary looks to be winning the popular vote, though, so I'd venture to say Bernie absolutely would have pulled the same off. Electoral college, however...that is the upsetting part.
