I'm a newb and I don't really understand the chastising of other newbs. This is a forum for vinyl people, why can't he ask for help without getting smartass responses (this is a rhetorical question as I understand the laws of the internet)

I despise this kind of atmosphere here. Why should people look something up on google when they prefer direct communication with more experienced enthusiasts? I was happy to answer the question. I'm happy to continue the discussion. I like these types of discussions. Just because a discussion doesn't appeal to you, that doesn't mean you have to be a dick to person who asked the question. I don't like/read 90% of the threads here about bands I don't care for. I don't go into them and chastise Blink-182 fans for their lame taste of music. It's childish. The real problem with the Internet and here is 20ish male immaturity. Grow up, people. edit: this wasn't directed at you, Soundboard. Just a general grievance.

Didn't see this reply at the time, but yes and no. Yes, on RSD, I tend to leave after not finding the records I specifically go in looking for. However, I go to those same record stores damn near every week, and spend more than my fair share of money at them regularly. If it wasn't for the RSD exclusives, there's not a fucking chance I'd go out on RSD just to dig through the same bins I dig through every week, but with the added bonus of fighting the crowds. It's akin to heading to Walmart at 12:01am on Black Friday to do your weekly grocery shopping.

yeah! he's right. i have nothing better to do. yeah! this too! basically guys. if you have a vinyl related question. assume it has been discussed on these boards. use the search function. read an old thread, educate yourself. still have a question? bump that old thread. "vinyl enthusiasts" are popping up everyday, it's the new cool thing to do i guess. so new members are popping up often posting the same questions & threads. so, yeah, peeps are gonna get dicky. myself included. common questions that could be answered with a simple google search, should be answered via that google search. it's not an elitist thing, i consider it a common sense thing. last year i wanted to stretch my ears. didn't know 2 dicks about the stretching process, healing times, what to expect, how to know if i've damaged my ears, what to do if i did.... so i found a message board specializing in body mod, lurked it for 2 weeks, any questions i had, they had answers to already in existing threads. didn't even need to join those boards or post at all. in my mind, this is how ALL message boards should be approached. lurk, lurk, lurk, join in on the action when you're ready. gives you a chance to see if that's a website you'll actually check often or if it was a fleeting interest.

I agree 100%. Much of this board is great and I enjoy learning and discussing about new releases. The asinine elitism gets old REAL quick though. Honestly everyone I know in real life who is a serious vinyl fiend talks a lot of crap about VC users. Not the board itself, but it's "USERS." This doesn't mean every single one of you, it means the handful of pretentious assholes who act like they own the place. I've been bitched at for discussing flippers or complaining about large companies that mishandle their "sales." I've been told, "these issues have been discussed, just move on." Well EXCUSE US if someone comes to a VINYL message board looking to discuss topics pertaining to VINYL! OMG!?!?! How dare they! As for new vs old: They're both good! Why decide between one or the other! It all comes down to personal preference really.

Normally, I don't really care about people listening to other stuff and not liking bands I like...thank God, it's a very subjective thing! BUT: if someone listens to Green Day, Billy Talent, Blink 182, Offspring, Sum 41, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, etc. and talks shit about Pink Floyd and The Beatles, I can't take them serious...seriously!

A new toy I've been playing with for a couple of weeks now: Clearaudio Solution with a Clearaudio OEM RB300 tonearm, directwired with Clearaudio Sixstream cable. I've added a Grado Prestige Silver to keep me going while I search for a solid MC phono/cart combo. Also had a custom acrylic cover made, because, well, cats...

If you're a fan, play the records! Don't get me wrong, you should do as you see fit with your money, but that record sounds great and should be listened to! With that being said, good luck on your hunt.

In my experience, most message boards have users who will post a polite response including a link to the previous thread(s) where the same discussion has occurred. But this forum's "elite" members aren't as helpful..

So what you're saying is that there's no purpose to this website? I could Google literally every piece of information on this site. I often do if I don't want to endure harassment from the very people who make VC worth existing. He's asking this question because he doesn't have other local friends who collect and doesn't want to ask the [most likely] pricks who work at his local record store, if he even has one. Luckily, he found a community of humans to talk with instead of a list of search results. Yeah buddy. Been wanting to get that out in an appropriate thread for awhile.

I just watched Seven Psychopaths...while watching I turned to my roommate and said "this reminds me a lot of In Bruges" ...same director. I'm an idiot.

Oh it must be bad than since your sister, the world famous music critic, rated it 2.2/10. But in all seriousness its different and its not really a transit record. But if you want a decent to good pop rock record its worth checking out. I still like Listen and Forgive more but I don't think this is nearly as bad as some people are pointing out and rather an ok attempt at branching out with some hits and misses. I was never too invested into Transit's music. I have seen them open for bands I like twice and listened to their past albums but never found them super amazing. I can respect a ok pop rock album this time around. At the end of the day all that matters is they had fun with it and some people like it. Transit were never game changing but continue to not be in a different way but still are worth a listen. It won't make any AOTY 2013 lists but it will get its fair share of listens.

Kind of hard when they say "Listen and Forgive" whenever they couldn't find anything better to say. Also their tracks made me think my speakers were dying because of poorly his vocals are

VC has a bad rep in the "vinyl community"? I am just curious where/who is the vinyl community? I really only spend time here and I try to check out r/vinyl but usually get tired of seeing pictures of King Crimson's "In The Court of the Crimson King" and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon". (Both are excellent albums, but for fuck's sake, we all know what they look like AND sound like). I know there is a vinyl community on You Tube but it seems to be filled with people that are more interested in acquiring records for the sake of acquiring records, and thus get boners over anything..these videos seem filled with mostly thrift store "finds" of classic rock albums. I could be wrong on this though. I used to like watching "Dan In Canada's" videos before he called it quits...dude had an awesome collection and pretty rad musical tastes.

Likewise. The audiophile in me said that the old pressings of Frogstomp and Freakshow are likely not made for crazy people like me, more for people who want cool looking green and yellow vinyl. Um, stoked!
