  1. I heard MYSTERY on the Olympics the other night during the women's big air ski event. It was neato

  2. Snagged some for it too. Haven't been to that venue since the first time I ever saw NIN with Bowie there. Figure this lineup was worth the 3 hour drive.

  6. It was with a buddy who I turned on to Earth a few months prior. He fell head over heels for them, and it was the only show they were scheduled to play for the entire year. (I think this was… 2013?) Shit took like 9 hours in each direction, maybe more. We headed back right after the show too… oh, to be young again. Honestly I had never been to Seattle, nor had I ever seen Earth, and I had nothing else going on. Seemed like a fun idea to do on whim and I have no regrets about it. Dude ended up doing a lot of the driving which I’m still so thankful for, to this day. (I made sure to compensate him with one of those Bees Made Honey leather boxsets like a week later. Which was definitely not cheap to track down at the time – a year before it got reissued, RIP.)

  7. Anacortes. Just a little bit away from Seattle like Derek said. About 1.5 hours.

  8. These ship from the PNW I'm pretty sure – close to Seattle or thereabouts. I wouldn't fret too much: I'm so far north in California that I've actually driven to Seattle after work for a show – once, and only once – and I only just got my box yesterday. The mail system is just fucked right now. None of my orders are updating either, outside of the periodic update on one random package every 2-3 days.

  12. Did you watch Devs? It's not perfect by any means, but I think it's worth watching.

  13. Nice to hear, Juan. To me, By The Way's mellowness and experimentation in the second half of the album really sets it apart from the other albums and is probably my favourite. Stadium Arcadium, I always see people talk about it as if it was chock-full of filler but again, its mellowness and less-is-more guitar work really makes it great for me. I felt Californication had great singles, some of my favourite songs ever, but as a cohesive whole the album lacks a bit of personality.

  19. Counter-Counterpoint. The members of this board have a similar music tastes and the preorders/restocks/represses get posted here are more in line with that rather than the shotgun of here's all of the things the subreddit offers. Also it's a lot more personable and fun here than a subreddit. Definitely a sense of community since it's a smaller space. This is why I prefer to post/find my releases here. If I miss anything really cool these days, a) I didn't care enough b) It's probably way too expensive c) In the end there will always be a repress, patience is always key

  20. Not sure if they've already been mentioned but I couldn't see anything from a quick search, but Specialist Subject Records over here in the UK are a superb distro. I couldn't recommend them enough, they're very helpful and always have a great range of stock of predominately punk/emo/hardcore/metal records. They're also a great label too with some banging releases over the years.

  21. Sad to see them become a parody of themselves, the new track is dull and lacking energy. Pass.

  23. Most of the bad ones were through small artists/labels on Bandcamp. I collect vaporwave which is pretty niche and most labels/artists are doing everything themselves, producing their own tapes and records, shipping themselves, etc etc. So I can't hate on them too much as for some, they're managing full time jobs along with making music/records/fulfilling orders, but some just drop the ball pretty badly and like take forever to ship things, never respond to emails, or don't ship things at all. I've had to file Paypal claims on a lot of items. As far as shitty customer service, Down in the Valley has to be the worst as they accept ZERO responsibility for defective records. They'll only replace/refund records if it's an error on their part. ANY store I've bought from will, at the very minimum, replace or just ask to send the record back for a refund if the record itself is defective, as in like there's a scratch on it or something affects play. Down in the Valley's policy is basically all sales final and no refunds/replacements unless it's their fault. I ordered an imported record from them once and it was sealed/brand new, but when I played it, the record itself had a scratch and would skip. Their policy on scratched/defective records is to "contact the manufacturer to get a replacement." So yeah like I was really going to call some random vinyl plant in Germany and try to get them to ship me a new record, lmao.
