  1. I stopped going out for RSD a couple of years back. I get the same 'rush' hanging out online here, and on other message boards and waiting for shout-outs for availability of scarce items online. I can't think of a single thing that I missed out on that I didn't get online quickly and fairly-priced within a few days of RSD.

  2. Add Spacehog's The Chinese Album to that. I'd never even noticed that they've never been released on vinyl before. Both albums were pretty stellar, and sadly, didn't get the acclaim they deserved. Can't say as much about their following albums though.

  4. I definitely prefer poly lined sleeves as well, but to me the bigger problem is the insane amount of dust and debris I often find on band new records. This one was pretty clean. I think the noise seems to be embedded in the grooves, not a dirt or scratch issue. I'll give it a wet clean but I'm not optimistic it will do anything. Also, I'm on the B side now, and while there is still some noise it's not as bad and fades a few tracks in. The album sounds gorgeous otherwise.

  5. I have now emailed Simon Holtom of Twisted Records asking if he recalls anything about a black variant.

  7. At an Urban Outfitters that said it didn't have it when I looked online but I figured they had to have it. And they did.

  9. My white showed up today too without a DL card. I just assumed that if the standard black was listed as including a DL card that the more expensive and limited white variant would include one as well.

  10. WUT. I thought we were friends now Gumbo. But these are fightin’ words. Brian Cook is (imo) the best bassist in the genre. I guess RC is top dog for me because they satisfy my riff-heavy post-metal appetite perfectly. Definitely why Cloudkicker is one of my favs as well. I love the riff-heavy jams more than the slow build climactic stuff. And I feel like Caspian is a perfect blend of those two styles. EDIT: Thought I posted this earlier but didn’t go through. Oops.

  12. I can totally understand this. Especially if you're living in freakin Los Angeles lol I bet it is a circus, especially if you're talking specifically about Ameoba Hollywood, I've seen videos. I'm just a country bumpkin tho here in central Oklahoma and the shop I go to in OKC is fairly less-circus-like. I get there about 7-8am depending on the releases that year and am usually 10-15th in line at that point. Always free beer, coffee, breakfast and extra discounts on everything else. So I guess maybe I'm in the minority who love RSD just for the fact its another excuse for me to tell my wife I "have to go" to record store today lol

  13. So wondering if everyone would comment on how many “newbies” or first time record store goers are at RSD at ur local shops. The one I go to normally is 80-90% people I see weekly/monthly not a bunch of people that only come for that one day

  16. You say that as if those Gildan shirts you use for your band tees aren't sweatshop-related either.

  19. They're at 45rpm and sound even better than they do on the LP. I just found it odd you were annoyed they were less than 4 minutes. Don't see how a different mix would have lengthened the songs.

  20. Lol the 22, A Million pressing is fucking incredible and the best sounding of the three LPs by a vast margin. That single was exactly what they said it was before you bought it soooo.
