wheelchairjoe
Just bought Neck Deep's RIJ/AHOBD on vinyl, it's the orange pressing, second hand, and I was suuuper stoked to have it. So I get round to playing it today, and the Rain In July side just won't spin, AHOBD plays fine yay great but why won't the other side spin? I've heard it may be warped or something. Is this the case? I'm pretty pissed cause the guy I bought it from was like "oh yeah it's brand new! Never played!" The same thing happens with my Salem - I'm still in the night EP. Side A spins for a second, sounds distorted and just doesn't play. I'm guessing that's completely fucked/warped. Side B, again, is fine. Any suggestions on what I can do to rescue the neck deep record would be appreciated. sal3m and chiefwahoo

museummouth
Before everyone comes in here and this ends up being a shit show, it's probably your turntable. gabpower, danionly and Shelby
Guest
Either that or the records are warped and there's a bunch of threads that have ways to attempt to fix that but I'm not going to search for them because I am lazy.
kramer73
Do you have a record store near you? Maybe you could take it in and see if they can play it. kamalatapes

aflycon
Wow, Neck Deep first put out that EP on 9/11. That's super hardcore and edgy and definitely not pop punk. I would take it into your local store and see if they're able to play it. The odds of the problem not being your turntable are pretty slim, I think. agreetodisagree
Remove the side A labels with an Exacto knife and tape them to side B. Probably not registering right on your turntable's center label scanner. aellerton, brianmorgante, tape and 13 others

Jollyronnie
I can only guess that OP is using the word "spin" to mean "play correctly" because I can't imagine a normal scenario where the turntable won't spin based on what is sitting on top of it. And if that's true, then this whole topic is about a used record that skips? kamalatapes and tape

dantheriver
what is.. "is the record only one sided"? I'll take Happy Homonyms for 400, chuck. This would be too funny, but that Neck Deep album is definitely double sided.
steviex2shoes
I know nothing about this record, but is it possible this is a reverse side? Where you put the needle in the middle and it goes to the outside?
dantheriver
I know nothing about this record, but is it possible this is a reverse side? Where you put the needle in the middle and it goes to the outside?Nope. It's the kids turntable, I doubt many pop punk albums like this make it to tables that cost more than $100. My favorite part of his post is that they think it may be warped... every warped record I own that is audibly messed up is clearly warped from a visual stand point, there's no guess work involved.Edited for frostedflakes. niblips
