Advertisement: 0:29 White - https://suicide-squeeze.myshopify.com/products/minus-the-bear-farewell Farewell opens with a highly energized performance of Menos el Oso’s crucial track “Drilling.” Part of the beauty of watching Minus the Bear was hearing their songs unfold on stage and realizing how little studio magic was actually involved in their albums. All the electric wizardry by guitarists David Knudson and Jake Snider, technicolor synth work by Alex Rose, and rhythmic interplay between drummer Joshua Sparks and bassist Cory Murchy happens in real time, and hearing the old favorites here in all their road-tested glory is an invigorating reminder of the band’s razor sharp performances and forward-thinking creativity. Minus the Bear were never a band to rest on their laurels, and Farewell immediately moves onto late career classics like the melancholic banger “Last Kiss.” The whole discography is covered—from first EP cuts like “Lemurs, Man, Lemurs” and “Hey, Wanna Throw Up?” to the title track of their final release Fair Enough. Longtime fan favorites like “Absinthe Party at the Fly Honey Warehouse” and “Pachuca Sunrise” sit alongside newer hits like “Cold Company” and “Invisible.” And in between we hear the roar of the crowd, the heartfelt thanks and bittersweet ruminations on the passing of the years by Snider, and the occasional dad joke by Rose. Farewell covers a lot of ground across the span of its 26 songs and two-hour run time. Yet every moment is a reminder of why Minus the Bear were such an experiential live band. They were always pushing forward, evolving their sound, and finding new ways to balance brainy musicianship, pop worship, meditative sentimentality, and adrenalized fervor into their own signature concoction. Further bolstered by the mix of Matt Bayles and master job by Ed Brooks at Resonant Mastering, the album sounds like a fully immersive live experience. Suicide Squeeze Records is proud to offer Farewell to the world on October 29, 2021 as a 3xLP and on digital formats. Ah damn, you're right - never trust your memory from the before times. Thanks for the correction!1 point -
You’re right - doing a google search for the eBay description for Kerplunk (I used "LK46LP - 763361904614" ) there are the exact same eBay listings from 2017 and 2018 (Here and here and a reddit post about it ), so it’s weird that they have this large unopened supply to sell at random times. Part of it makes sense that there’s unopened stock because it was the most popular lookout release in the late 90s so there’s likely a very large pressing(s) over the course of years. I’m skeptical like you all, but I couldn’t find any issues with the 39/smooth copy. It sounded great! I’ll update with the kerplunk that’s in transit if someone hasn’t done it before me.1 point

Both of these albums from this seller have been listed on and off for at least three years. Weird that they're getting so much traction right now... probably why they went from $29.99 to $49.99. At one point they were $23.99, but shipping to Canada still killed it for me so I didn't bother. Update: still have an old listing saved in my "saved for later" cart, Kerplunk used to be listed for $18.74.1 point

Few things - “Shellstar” variant has little to no surface noise and sounds good to the end of the album. Additionally, “Mombasa” is one of their best songs and I love this album and how the end of that song makes me wanna just dive back into their old catalog. Used to be I’d need a break after listening to a full album of theirs, but this is a p good segue into their back catalog. Listening to that last song also makes me think we wouldn’t be wrong to expect more metal-tinged material in the future.1 point -

There is no way this band doesn’t have a comeback in the next 5 years. They just seem to enjoy putting albums (and variants) out too much.1 point

I think Ray runs their social media. I haven't seen any comments about this. I always got weird vibes from the dude. I have no intention of supporting them anymore and hope Kody will step away and focus more on the Lillingtons or another project.1 point
