Regarding the 2x3 Target shelves. I've had mine for only a few months, I originally bought the vertical model, but I decided it looked better horizontal when set up. Of course the main different I'm noticing is the vertical is made to have feet on on the bottom... vertically, and the same goes for the horizontal model. Anyways, my question is does anyone happen to know if the vertical and horizontal are basically the same exact build and how they are fastened, besides where the feet go? Hate for it to break or anything like that, because there are slight, but important differences between the two.

This is a horrible idea. You will be putting weight on the shorter pieces of wood rather than the longer, more robust pieces. If you stack it full and don't reinforce it somehow, you will come home one day to a busted shelf.

anyone check out the new Ikea Nornas shelves yet? Same shape as Kallax/Expedit but solid pine!!!

Thoughts as to how much weight these might hold?   Might be the solution to the perpetual question of where to place this once it's painted...

It warped the plywood table it's pictured on, and as mentioned a couple pages back, I don't want it on the ground after my friend does it up.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but looking at the new ikea shelf that's posted on this page, http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00280939/ and zooming in, isn't it put together how you're suggesting it shouldn't? It looks like the longer pieces are going vertical while the shorter ones connect and are going horizontal. Isn't that technically bad with a lot of weight?

Big difference between solid wood and MDF.

Gahhhhhh!

Why?!?

I literally just installed a kallax 4x4 a bit back....would have loved to go this route. Guess I need to rearrange the room....again!

I'm in the same boat, these look awesome. I'll have to check them out though, luckily there is an IKEA not far from my place.

My Kallax works fine for now, but that pine looks really nice.
