it was... interesting. very dark. lots of boobies. if you've seen the trailers and the album art you've got a good idea of the tone. the music is perfect for the vibe she's going for. i appreciate that she has an artistic vision and she must have carried it out and filmed it throughout her pregnancy. i'm curious to see how the album is going to stand up without the film. i'm pretty sure they only used parts of songs and not full songs. there was some spoken dialog and some interludes. i'm trying not to spoil it too much... it reminds me a lot of Hopeless Fountain Kingdom. The videos really helped the concept for that album, but I didn't like it as much on its own. Was a much bigger fan of the last album.

Watched Daniel Isn’t Real last night. Man that ended up being really, really good. For sure wasn’t expecting it to go the direction it did and I’m glad.

Just dropping in to say that ‘Plagues’ is a top 10 Converge song. On a personal note I got into them not long after Jane Doe came out and was blown away…then was initially disappointed when YFM was released. Thought it was a step back (I no longer believe this). Then they came out with No Heroes and had returned in all their glory. Great fucking record.

My lunch meeting unexpectedly cancelled so I was able to duck home and do a (relatively) quick eco-horror doubleheader. The Bay: as noted earlier, I reallylike the docu-horror genre, and this was a really solid entry. Super tense throughout, pretty fucked up also. Gross body horror stuff. Thumbs up. The Beach House: Overall the movie isn’t bad, but it was frustrating how frequently the film maker choose to bump the fog machine up to max as or had the lights super low, as I don’t really care for not being able to see what’s going on. And I don’t mean the “oh the lights went out and oh shit there’s a clown” type of moments, I just mean there were long stretches where there’s just no visibility, and while I get it’s done for effect, it just was not effective.

Watched Kandisha yesterday and enjoyed it. Doesn't really break new ground, but I thought it was a well made supernatural slasher.

I just completed my Bill Hicks collection with the third vinyl released posthumously. It has extra material not featured on the CD release, but I guess I could’ve just bought the material digitally. But fuck that ‘cause it’s fuckin’ Bill Hicks!
