  3. Part of me wants to ask Cedric to sign my silver MOV copy just to hear his reaction and see if he freaks out.

  4. they definitely don't look so great next to expedits due to the (subtle but noticeable) size difference. in the process of redoing my record area and got two 2x4 kallax this week. i have to say, i kind of like the fact that they're a bit sleeker. especially for my nyc apartment. i also feel like the pieces went together a bit easier than the expedits.

  6. Good news, everybody! I told you guys about how I found a $500 check and a ring at the gas station last week. I called the phone number on the check three times that day and nobody answered. I left a message on the third call. A few days went by and I didn't hear anything. I went back to the gas station plus a pawn shop near by and left them a note with my number in case anyone came looking for the ring. I finally got a call this morning from the woman who wrote the check. We just met up at the gas station so I could give everything back to her. She was super happy about it. Yay!

  7. I don't get it. I thought the white streaks were for taking notes. My copy is hanging on the refrigerator right now with my grocery list on one stripe and important phone numbers on the other.

  8. I'm sorry but reading that article made me laugh my ass off. Seriously, the guy came to do the much hyped interview then felt it was too long to write himself so he just let the label write it? I don't smell any more controversy than this band should be checking with their manager as to why this slipped but this article is a pathetic excuse for journalism.

  9. The main reason for the preorder was to simply cash in on the oscar win hype.

  10. My Dad is retiring on May 30th and starting a new job that pays at least twice as much on June 2nd... Because of this, he told me yesterday that since he'll have his pension and his new income that he's going to pay off my student loan balances for me because I've been struggling with all of these medical issues with doctors and prescriptions that my insurance won't pay for. I didn't have many student loans to begin with because I had money put away from when I did acting as a kid, but this still helps me so much and I want to cry.

  12. I was checking Modern Vinyl info on their podcast and they had a correction about these FOB pressings for a recent podcast they released. It seems like someone needs to correct their correction. This is what they said as a correction to something they said on their podcast: -- From MV: As an example, I talk about Fall Out Boy’s vinyl rights being given away by a major label. I forgot that it’s already happened as those vinyl rights went to Hot Topic (most likely without their knowledge). And actually, we didn’t mention that Hot Topic is another organization which happens to press things without band approval at times. -- How many people just don't understand how Hot Topic works and that it isn't a label and doesn't actually press things they just buy them and carry them in their store? You'd think a vinyl site could at least get the facts straight.

  14. In the OPs defense, that entire list could easily be RSD reissues from the past two years.

  15. I am in a mad dash to try and get the students' poems typed up and to do my cut and paste layout for this year's chapbook anthology. During the last week of school we have a "Poet's Café" where we invite the whole 2nd grade into our 3rd grade room to hear each poet read a poem. For this event we provide a small snack and a drink. We are talking about 100 kids, so this gets expensive. To help offset costs I am holding out a hat for $10 donations. For your $10(or more) donation you will get a copy of this book, which is just folded pages stapled together with a cardstock cover filled with 38 poems. This is not the big anthology that will hopefully come later, this is just this year's poets in my class. I will mail your book when school ends in June. If you're international a bit extra to cover more postage would be greatly appreciated. I can take up to 10 donations. If you're interested, just pm me and I can give you my info. All money will be used toward the snacks for our little poetry event. I have only typed in the poems of a few students, so far, but I can tell it's going to be a good year. I could do a whole book filled with one particular student's work. I will try to post some of the new work tomorrow evening. Thanks for all of your awesome comments!

  16. Ok I can confirm that at least on the CD both the riffs you are referring to are mixed hard to only one side of the stereo field or only coming out of one speaker. You're lacking the signal from one side I think.

  26. It's probably unnecessary, but thank you to all involved who helped clear the air on this whole "bootleg" incident. A lot of people, including myself, would tend to believe the artist more often than not just because it is their music, after all, but you guys have made the pursuit of truth much easier via this thread, which I appreciate. And thanks to MOV for not putting up with Cedric's bullshit and giving the people what they want.

  29. That's the old version. Epic didn't re-release with the O-card because it was expensive to press, like 90cents per record or something (But they had us re-record a song, & re-shoot a video... The logic there is not sound). Major labels...sheesh. ACS: thanks man! We certainly will, freebird live venue is the jam!

  30. Consider it done. Let's get this thread moving again. I messaged Derek with the details, but ending Thursday the 22nd at noon, I will be picking someone to win a copy of Converge - Axe to Fall on white vinyl OR New Found Glory - Kill It Live on black/yellow. I will let the winner choose which record he/she would rather have.

  34. Just picked one of these up this weekend at skate and surf. Its white and it is grand coda. Ill never understand why teeth the size of piano keys was left off this release. It was one of the best songs on the record. Definitely the most "chiodos" type track as well. Anyone know how much the white ones are out of?

To quote Jack Parkman, you're standing on the tracks and the trains coming through. The A's have the 5th best run differential through 44 games in the last 75 years.

  40. I was going to put this in the poetry thread, but I thought that it wouldn’t hurt to have a separate thread. I teach 3rd grade in a high poverty urban area. In my classroom I teach the kids the craft of poetry, even though it is not a part of our curriculum. I feel it’s an important avenue for them to express their views and to realize how powerful they can be with their words. This allows even the lowest achieving students to realize success because the focus is on expression rather than mechanics or correct grammar. One of the experiments I started doing was to play them music by Explosions In The Sky while they were writing. I’d give them the title and let them use the music to influence their writing. Through the years I have collected some good ones and decided to make an anthology of these titles to give to the band. This is the email I got from them: Hey there, This is Chris, the drummer from Explosions in the Sky. Sorry it's taken so long to send you a message, but we just got back from tour recently and there are always a million things to catch up on once we're home. Anyway, I just wanted to thank for giving us the copy of The Season of the Waterfall. We all read the poems and were deeply moved. Not even sure what to say other than that i'm glad that there are people like you helping out and doing things like this. Reading them was not easy. They were beautiful but also incredibly heartbreaking. If there is some way for us to help out, please let me know. Even if its something dumb like sending you a bunch of CDs or something to give to your class. I'm not really sure 3rd and 4th graders would have any interest in meandering, long winded instrumental rock music, but I can't really think of anything else. A lot of people have given us stuff over the years but nothing has compared to this collection of poems. Not even close. Thank you. Sincerely, Chris explosions in the sky Here are some of the poems. Please keep in mind that I teach them the craft, give them the tools, but this is 100% their writing. I wish I could take credit for what they write, even sometimes steal some of the lines for my own lyrics. I’ve had mothers and fathers in tears as they read their child’s poems. It amazes me every time I read a new one. These are all using titles from EITS songs. The Birth and Death of the Day Death is in the sky and Light is in the ground. When people say be gone death death stays. It never went and now it disappeared like fallen warriors. Light has come back to the sky. -Jorge Our Last Days As Children We used to go to the park together then it was time to grow up. You are a fashion designer and I am a doctor. We get off work at 3:00 and see each other at the buffet and eat and talk about when we were little and remember times like when we ate chocolate mint ice cream on Saturdays, when we played with each other, when we were friends forever when we played Bratz and you used to be Sasha and I would be Cloe, when we went to each other’s houses and watched Disney movies, When we used to talk about ourselves and what colors we liked. You liked red and I liked pink. When we played dodgeball and we would be on the same team and we would run or jump so we wouldn’t get out, but we would catch the ball and get other people out, when we painted each other’s nails, when we colored each other’s drawings. when we played soccer and we would win, during recess we would play four square and you would be in the A square and I would be in B. After we talk we start to cry. I miss those things. -Lilibeth The Only Moment We Were Alone I feel dead dead like nothing People just pass by like Nothing Ghosts being nothing Laying down being a jerk Biting ghosts one at a time Water from God biting water forever. -Juan

  45. i saw that...and this is what i wont forget reading from that passage: ...millions of hippos crawling like babies it would be interesting to see if the writings are close to the same per different artists. like gather up the ITTCT writings vs. EITS writings...and make a side by side quiz asking us. im so curious to see if theres a big difference. both instrumental bands, but both different styles.
