  1. Yeah, those 5x5s start filling up faster than you'd expect...

  2. @mitchard Nice Broyhill Brasilia end table! I've got a Broyhill Emphasis cocktail table that I restored. I've cut my collection in half the past couple of years. Helps pay for other hobbies (and the dog).

  3. It feels like we used to have this thread, but all I can find anymore is the (band or label only) one or whatever it's called. Here's mine. I actually have a solid number stuck in that closet as well, but I'm not about to drag them out of them our.

  5. Got these racks when all the Hastings were going out of business. I also have a fourth one that I use mostly for zines, but a couple of the drawers on that one have also been taken over by records... Front flip forever!

  6. I just recently moved to flip through as well - I love it!

  7. I really need to prune like 50 records since I'm running out of space.

  8. About $10-$15 over market, holiday music, AND doesnt ship until WELL AFTER the holidays. I was intrigued but that combination they can fuck off lol

  9. We already are. A record that’s been OOP for 6+ years is going to be, at least, $8-$15 more than it was when it was last pressed. There are exceptions. Supply and demand are making it easy to make these things happen. Labels/bands need to survive too. Albeit to a certain extreme that hurts us. But even then you can have an “endless” pressing, $50 is still decent. Again, we’re talking about a band that was charging $50 for a double LP 10 years ago. Mentioning/complaining about the rise in prices for records is one of the craziest things to me. Especially with what the fuck is going on and the world we’re all living in. Ramen used to be $.25, now it’s two for a $1. FUCK! I’m done! Instead of voicing an opinion that doesn’t matter, bow out of “the hobby” gracefully.

  10. Are you not familiar with Fantastic Planet?? A universally loved record that wasn’t pressed until 14 years after it was released, has had only two pressings and is insanely rare to come by for cheaper than 4-5 times what they’re charging. A record that’s only gotten more popular in the 26 years since it’s release and will continue to. You may bitch and moan about it, but not bad for what it is, if you ask me. Its also Failure.

  12. In honor of the 20th anniversary of "Tennessee" we've re-pressed (& remastered!) the album for vinyl! The double LP was remastered by Justin Perkins at Mystery Room Mastering with the vinyl lacquers cut by Jeff Powell at Take Out Vinyl. The LP includes an exclusive etching on side D and there are two different color options to choose from... a limited amount have been pressed on "clear smoke" colored wax and of course you can snag it on classic black wax too But wait - there's more! We've dug through the archives and brought back an authentic Tennessee era design that's available as both a t-shirt & crewneck! All just in time for the holidays! Our webstore is also now stocked with your favorite holiday classics (ornaments! beanies! holiday crewnecks! oh my!) as well as some leftover merchandise from the fall tour. Plus we've done some winter cleaning and discounted some holiday merch from years past. Get your orders in my December 7th in order to guarantee in time for the holidays using regular shipping. Happy holidays y'all Shop the store here: https://lucero.merchtable.com/

  13. That’s rad that you have a killer collection after such a short amount of time. If 23yr old me has all those I’d never leave my house. Haha. I’ll suggest these stands: Monolith Stands — they’re on sale too. You can fill them with sand / cat litter or whatever and they’re perfect.

  14. I've been collecting since January 2014 (when I was 14 years old; I am now 23). If you were to count every box set by the individual albums they contain, and include the stuff that isn't in the photo, I estimate I've got a few shy of 2k. Unwound are one of my favorite bands, admittedly I double-dipped on a couple of the more recent pressings too. As for the speakers, it's kind of a makeshift setup until I've got money set aside for new speakers (and/or better speaker stands than a couple of Uhaul boxes from when I moved into this place a few months back). They're triangulated to the center seat of my couch.

  15. I keep the records in another room, turntable and stereo out in the main living room area. I've got a couple boxes' worth that I didn't bother dragging into the photo, they'll go into another Kallax next time I'm at IKEA.

  18. Oi yoi yoi. Pretty jealous of y’all that don’t live in Southern California. I’m gonna have to show ya what it’s like to have 4k+ records in small-ish apartment, when I get home. It’s not pretty.

  19. What’s the story with all the panels on the left wall? Obviously I see the cohesive theme with them, but are they a reference to anything in particular? Or tie into the bands in any way? I feel like I’m completely missing something and my curiosity outweighs the risk of embarrassing myself with ignorance here.

  20. nah, you completely misread my comment. I was just reminiscing. And the hashtag is just funny to me, not a blast on the band whatsoever...

  21. Yup! Just grabbed them all as they put them out (got lucky and got the rare Earth AD one with my order that time).

  23. I know. My living room is miniscule and this is the only wall where the TV can go. Not pictured on the other side is the theater-like recliner sofa. Shit is comfy. I do plan to size down to a 2x4 Kallax and move the TV down quite a bit. One of many things on my to-do list.

  24. Thankful that I've already got good pressings of all their albums. $50 for the FP 2LP ok... but $50 for Comfort and Magnified for a single disc? yikes... that's a little steep for sure.

  26. I like this record store feeling and the possibility to always see the covers from the front ...

  27. Sure, or course. The other option is not to do either obviously, and hopefully that drives the price down rather than paying artificially inflated prices and encouraging it across the board for other releases. Whatever you do is up to you, we can all only do our best in any endeavor, and that differs for everyone.

  29. There's a 10% discount code that may work. Try FAILURE I stumbled on this by adding 1000 copies of one album to the cart, let it drop to the actual amount, then dropped that to 1 and it somehow added the discount. Edit: looks like they're doing 10% (no code) on everything at the moment, including new presses.

  30. I had just listened to that Occulsed record a few days ago. Ordered immediately after I got the stock notification. Thanks for shipping it out so quick. Can't wait to visit the store next time I'm in Chicago. Basically down the street from where my good bud lives.

  31. I'm usually not too bothered by these, but it's just been happening a lot to me lately. The first record I've ever bought without any intention of playing or selling - a signed copy of The Hum Goes on Forever - arrived from Looney Tunes with a massive bend on the jacket. Like shit, man... literally any other record but that one... Then these. I've bought records with VG/G jackets that look as good if not better than some of these I've been getting lately. This was after a year to a year and a half of pretty good luck with the post office. Don't want to get too off topic, but one more post office anecdote: the day before the shitty MxPx luck, I had Stay What You Are from Amazon get delayed at the Amazon warehouse. Finally arrives yesterday, box slashed, with the record stolen. Excited to see what shenanigans await me with my next package. After pretty good luck, it's reverting to the mean...
