War-Admirator
Hi guys, just cleaned my brand new vinyl (bought from Amazon) with windex (the German equivalent to windex) and now it crackles quiet a lot. It had basically no crackling before (like a new vinyl should sound), now it sounds like one of my old ones that has visible scratches etc. When I put another new vinyl on my turntable --> no problems. I've been cleaning records like this for a while (new and old), so far no problems. Any ideas why, and more specifically, any ideas how I can fix it? Thanks for help! Tommy
I've been using Kiwi shoe polish for years with no issue. They have a few different colors but I prefer black so I don't compromise the integrity of the vinyl _stretts, davepriz, somethingvinyl and 17 others

Rip
It's because you used the "German equivalent" to Windex instead of actual Windex. Believe it or not most record stores here in the US are starting to include free bottles with purchases. davepriz, Mattiktpq, THE_James_Champ and 3 others
Skacel
I use paint thinner for splatter vinyl. Plus you can sniff it. davepriz, Dassit and Tommy 2
zuck
I used a Spinclean to clean my windows once. It was kinda a hassle though. Edited August 24, 2017 by zuck sabukweli, piky0032, THE_James_Champ and 12 others

justincb
Really, cleaning records with windex damages them. Look up how to properly clean records, and follow the mildest method they say. If that doesn't work, don't clean your records. kjkenney

justincb
The Russian windex probably has communist nanobot spies in it. Or vodka, but I'll dismiss this case for the lack of whisky.

dawhizz
Was I the only one who thought maybe this was a preorder for an album by a new band called Cleaned Vinyl With Windex called "Now It Crackles"? I was in for a splatter. Darnoc
