  5. My collection of Misfits records. These are all 100 percent originals. The only records of theirs I still need/want are the color vinyl versions of Earth AD, Bullet on black vinyl, and the Italian pressing of Walk Among Us on Expanded Music. Of course with what they go for these days that will never happen as I can't afford any of them.If it wasn't for the fact that I got these a million years ago I wouldn't be able to afford any of them these days! I love the band (the real band, with Danzig singing) but I'm not so crazy that I need all the weird variations like the plain label variants or any more recent pressings.

  7. This album was written for a specific audience. It was not written with the Thrice audience as the target. I see a lot of people writing as if they were betrayed by Kensrue. Artists switch their style to address different targets all the time. Art is art. Christianity offends people. Or I should say religion and religiousness offends people. Just because you do not like the track names doesn't mean it is not good art. I can't stand what Rage Against the Machine has to say, but their music is awesome. People don't seem to mind rap music degrating women and homosexuality or movie directors who are pedofiles. But when Christianity is involved, that is where the line is drawn? Even though the crux of what Kensrue writes about touch on love, grace, respect, and humility. Kensrue is a thinker, a philosopher, and a believer. His lyrics reflect him acknowledging the fact that there is something much bigger than us at work and chooses to believe God is the reason. How many songs do you listen to that express a point you don't agree with, but you respect it, enjoy it, and sing along with it?

  22. My simple reaction: I am not a religious man, I do not believe in any sort of god. this is obviously a worship album, I do enjoy most of Dustin's music and though most of his music has (mostly) subtle religious tones, this is just too much for me to handle. I shall pass.

  30. I bought strictly CDs until about 2006 when I first discovered that a world of music is at your fingertips for free online (albeit not legal). Anyway, after amassing a 20,000 song digital "collection", I slowly realized how much these artists and their music had influenced me for the better. I started buying records here and there at various shows I went to for the sole purpose of supporting the artists, even though I had no record player. I was hooked, and now I collect just to have a physical representation of the albums that have been so important to me. I want to be able to pull out a record and remember the exact show I bought it at, how fun it was, and how much the band blew me away. I want to be able to pull them out for my kids in 20 years and show them the kind of music that was around, and inspire them to bring music into their lives as well.

  34. Hello all. I'm a long time lurker, first time poster. Anyhow, I found this item that I knew more than a few of you would be interested in (I could not find a mention of this previously, so apologies if this is a repeat) and had to sign up just to share: "Very limited quantities of this beautiful boxset. Each of the albums nine tracks comes housed in its own silk screened sleeve." http://shopusa.xlrecordings.com/amok-boxset It is hard to find concrete information on this, but it appears to be an edition of 400. According to the listing on Discogs: "These sets were only available at the Atoms For Peace Amok Drawing Room above the Enterprise Pub in London between 25/07/13-27/07/13 to coincide with three concerts at the Roundhouse on those dates." Anyhow, $105 shipped, which is not bad given how much the deluxe version ran. Enjoy! RPM

    MLB Discussion

when i worked for my college paper we told our staff writers they could never email interview questions to their source. why? because the source has time to craft his/her answers and make them sound exactly the way he/she wants them to. after reading a hundred articles a week i could figure out which writers emailed their sources because the quotes throughout the piece were so contrived. this is how every press release public statement bullshit makes me feel. yeah, there will always be detractors, but i guess i'm a guy of high moral standing or something if i expect him to just play clean. and if he's not going to play clean, he should confess BEFORE he's caught -- and if he's not going to do that, at least he can sack up and do it WHEN he's caught. but no, he didn't do either. he DID throw people under the bus. do you think the guy who took his samples read braun's statement and was like, "alright, yeah, apology accepted." i doubt it. he absolutely should have done a live conference. 1) if he actually apologized and was sincere during it -- which you would be able to tell if he was -- it could help his image immensely. did you see everth cabrera's apology? dude cried, and i felt terrible for him. it's not to say that anyone who cries is being sincere, because actors cry all the time on command. but these guys aren't actors. 2) if he botched the live conference, with scripted lines his lawyer fed to him for certain questions and cryptic responses to everything else, he would simply continue being the scumbag he already is. tl;dr i think it is 100% reasonable to not give any credence to braun's apology statement.
