This came in today. Spoliers: It's their newest lp, 2 months ahead of release date. Called 'Recreational Hate', self-released on their new personal label Turbo Worldwide. Clear vinyl, really nice gatefold jacket. The enamel pin, poster, and sticker are cool too. Also came with a personalized note from the band. Definitely worth the gamble. Brand New could learn some things about releasing a mystery bundle, heh.

WW has done a good job pressing large quantities - I think the only release of theirs in a while that didn't meet demand was The Thing. They don't seem to produce anything necessarily limited anymore, sans subscriber variants.

It is good though.

SPOILER! same as reported before (altho some on reddit claim to receive some but not all of the inserts) 2x 180 gm LPs (disc one was closer to 200gm), paper outer sleeve 2x cardboard sleeves one with print on the inside as well, band poster, art poster, zine, pogolith, can add, flower pack, and slip mat. Wish the flower pack was sealed because it found its way to my vinyl... cleaned and seems fine but still. MATRIX: Side 1: PMT.009.1.A S-100948 SAFF Side 2: PMT.009.1.B S-100949 SAFF Side 3: PMT.009.1.C S-100950 SAFF Side 4: PMT.009.1.D S-100951 SAFF The quality is great. Nothing out of the ordinary. Only played thru once. took my time appreciating the parts (minus the on-line "manual"). I love the idea that there is more to it... something to be found in the images and something more to the back cover writing but I don't think its needed. I am completely satisfied with the package and looking forward to infusing psilocybin with listening to and enjoying the included visuals. I'm in the minority that would rather have this unique packaged release than another color variant.

Mono have logged in significant touring mileage throughout their career, amazing they have held up for so long without burning out. Hopefully, Takada is ok health-wise and Mono can surely find a replacement if the remaining three want to keep it going. They really should take a break for a couple of years, do some more solo stuff if they want, rest up and regroup regarding their direction of sound. Last time I saw them they were loud as ever, but seemed not as into as the first time, but it was toward the end of a six or seven month world tour iirc. The Wess Meets West song is fantastic - ready for more from them! Saw the link on IG yesterday but couldn't get to it so thanks for the linkage here. In case it wasn't mentioned, Te' released a 5 song EP earlier this year, no vinyl, but still excellent as always. Hard to search because of the accent mark on the e, and even then searches don't always catch it. Where toe are jazzy, and LITE are light (or medium), Vasudeva, Enemies, etc. are noodly, and Giraffes!? are mathy, Te' bring a harder rock (gain on the guitars) in their instrumental music. Driving energy with nice riffs, linear, not circular music, and they never really cross into a metal sound imo. If you like their former material, check them out. The album is called "Kai." Kai Reddit has a nice postrock release list by month for 2017 for those into making lists and checking missed material (of which there is a goodly amount not mentioned here) Postrock albums of 2017 as of December 9

Well, there were (I'd say) three different phases in the band's history...first the rather ambient/space rock thingy like Voyage, then the mellow rock things like Lightbulb Sun and the last one which was their heavier stuff starting with In Absentia (or rather Steven Wilson producing Opeth's BWP in 2000/2001)

For better or worse I’ve gotten out of the variant game, but I really don’t know where I draw the line when it comes to Converge. And colorways like that certainly don’t help. Very nice.
