  1. I thought Jack White was a terrible ambassador. His stance on vinyl immigration was not in line with the peoples and he did not represent himself well at the vinyl UN when he pressed his speech on a 4 1/2 inch 78 that exploded after listening. This year we vote a true American and vinyl patriot for ambassador. Vote Neil Young for 2014 ambassador. #youngforambassadorofvinylsrecordstoredaytwothousandandfourteen

  3. Hey guys, Mike from Razor & Tie here. The gold pre-order variant is actually a 2xLP and features gold foil on the sleeve. Hope that clears up the concerns about the $25 price. Let me know if you have any questions. Also, I'll be more present on here going forward and sharing news of our upcoming pre-orders, so don't hesitate to reach out.

    How To Pack A Record

One new peeve. If your inner sleeved isn't a plain old paper sleeve, such as the sleeves with liner notes on them, for God's sake do NOT ship the record in it. Use a cheap generic sleeve instead. Those artwork/liner notes sleeves are fragile and seam split like nobody's business. God why are people so fucking dumb?

  7. So with how quickly S/T sold out I upped the qtys. on the rest of these. Maybe I'll go get another 1000 of the S/T splatter repressed for anyone who missed out on those too. 12. I watched the movie Speed last night, which reminded me of this gem... I saw this in a movie about a bus that had to speed around the city, keeping its speed over fifty, and if its speed dropped, the bus would explode! I think it was called "The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down."

  26. Has anyone here listened to Tabs Out? It's a cassette podcast. The episode I listened to was focused on experimental electronic, noise and ambient material. I kind of got the impression that's primarily what they feature all the time. I liked one artist so much I bought the tape immediately and there were two or three I'm going to check out in the next few days. Definitely worth listening to if those genres interest you : http://www.tabsout.com/

  29. Especially when it comes to vinyl, a "remastered vinyl reissue" in the 2000s rarely translates to "the best sound quality to date." Just ask the 45 RPM Metallica reissues (OOF). Just to put this in perspective: The recent 2XLP reissue of Temple Of The Dog from 1991 was a big improvement, mainly because they expanded the record to a double and gave the grooves more space. Conversely, the recent "XX remaster" of Rage Against The Machine from 1992 was a disaster, and you'd be much better off hunting down the original all-analog pressing (or the MOV reissue from the same master). So even when we're talking about a record from the early 90s, no one really knows if the remaster is gonna be an improvement or a huge disappointment. The difference between Illmatic and the records listed above, though, is that this record has been in print for a long time... and at MUCH cheaper prices than $30. So this newest version isn't filling any particular void in the marketplace (unlike the recent reissue of Ready To Die) because you can still get this... http://www.amazon.com/Illmatic-Vinyl-Nas/dp/B00004WX4X So basically, you're paying more than double for a puke-inducing cover and an uncertain remastering job.

    Warped Tour 2014

This tour brings in bands that make money, in my hayday it was all Fat/Epitaph bands, now its these weird moshy bands. Kevin has to make cash to keep it going.

  33. Little late to this, but I like this thread idea. We can reminisce about sending record labels money orders or well concealed cash in exchange for LPs because ordering online didn't really exist yet.

    Warped Tour 2014

I guess I've matured past calling bands "shitcore" to me there are hardcore bands and there are bands well that don't play hardcore. Crazy I know but you'll get it eventually.
