  8. wow, your responses have me in tears, I'll respond to the original posts soon. You guys are so awesome, you have no idea how uplifting all your words have been. I've kept busy the last few days going to a couple baseball games and hanging with friends. Trying to stay positive, but sometimes it gets hard not to think the worst. But you wonderful people are helping tremendously. Thank you so so so so very much. I'll keep you all updated as things progress especially since it's a lot of unknown at this point. I know I will make it through, I have a wonderful support system at home. And of course you guys. You guys really don't need to get me anything as flattering and kind as that is. Your kind words are more than enough. I can't thank you enough. P.S. Anyone else pre order the new MLIW LP? I just did, listening to the stream now, Holy poo. Go check it out!

  21. Downloaded and watched The Conjuring last night. I'm a big fan of James Wan. I think he's the best director in horror currently. Mostly for the atmosphere and "creep factor" he is able to create in what might otherwise be your standard cookie cutter horror flicks (for a good example of the latter check out the trailer for the new horror movie with Abigail Breslen called "The Haunter". I couldn't even make it through the trailer it's so boring). The Conjuring had some decent scares/jumps. Most you knew were coming before they happened, but a few were very well done. I think my favorite is when the "spirit" in the house wakes one of the daughters and is supposedly standing behind the door whispering to her. We see everything from her POV but don't see what she is seeing behind the door or hearing what is being said. We just see her freaking out and her sister trying to find what she is upset about. That to me was a great moment. No cheap gags or loud noises, no crappy cgi monster or ghost... just a dark spot that the character sees something malevolent in and we have to use our imaginations as to what is really there. The part I didn't care for as much was the overall story line. I think it was a little bit too much going on for one "haunting" movie. You had ghost stuff mixed in with poltergeist stuff mixed in with demonic/exorcism stuff mixed in with evil doll stuff. I feel it was tied together well, but it was still a lot going on. With that being said, the creepy doll and haunted clown music box were far scarier than the main antagonist, the "demon" in the house. I also found a few things to be glossed over for the sake of moving the story along, but were too simple. We see our demonologists agree to take the case without any real effort on the families part. They just immediately believe everything the family states and start relating seemingly easy to explain stuff with DEFINITELY A DEMON! The next scene later in that day shows them discussing the history of the house. They apparently found every single piece of macabre history for the house in the span of a few hours. Who owned it, who died, property maps, newspaper clippings, etc. Even with all its faults, I really enjoyed watching The Conjuring. Like most of Wans stuff it's perfect for late night/dark room viewing. It's not perfect, but it's certainly much better than the majority of horror being released currently.

  23. I'm pretty sure this message board is to discuss vinyl, so I'm not sure why people are getting bent out of shape when people discuss the colors of the vinyl.... Obviously discussion of the music itself is also important but really this place is for discussion of Vinyl releases

  25. I got it on discogs yesterday! It randomly popped up, couldn't believe it! So I snagged it as soon as I saw it. Pretty stoked to add that one to the collection. There's been a copy for 50 on and off for a while, I wonder if it's the same one just being re-listed, hahaha. There's a few that are a little cheaper on discogs, but the shipping is from overseas, so it almost evens out. Doesn't seem worth it to me, I don't know.

  29. I've been using it for about a week now and I definitely noticed an improvement in separation and clarity. Also, theres a lot less surface noise and the rumble filter has stopped my speakers from looking like they are having seizures. This is only my first preamp so I dont have much to compare it to but I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice budget preamp that can handle both mm and mc cartridges.

Got around to watching Sleep Tight this morning, real enjoyable film. Solid suspense/thriller. I found some of it pretty amusing too, so I guess it could be classified as a really dark comedy.

  46. I think "irrelevant" is a little harsh, but I totally agree that half of them (b-boy and graff) pretty much don't matter anymore and have almost no relation to the music. But I think that an artist showing some sort of knowledge and appreciation of hip hop history/where it all came from/the roots of a genre that they clearly care a lot about (or at least should), makes me more of a fan of them.
