  6. No, I just want one of each. I'll let everyone know if everything comes in, I'll make a post, and people can buy them for cost plus shipping. It'll be a flash post similar to the GoHastings sale. It will be posted here, and should be no later than next weekend according to tracking #'s.

  7. Not defending him or arguing, but I feel it's worth pointing out that's incorrect. He's never pretended these are licensed and has always been straight forward about them not being official records. I've been buying since his fist forum post where he made it perfectly clear what buyers were getting was a "homebrew" effort. Also, since then, he's stated repeatedly that he's super excited to get actual licenses for upcoming records, and what a drag it's been that so many companies have just brushed him off (which is why he started making bootlegs). So yeah, there's that. He's also let people know that these covers are homages to other albums because, basically, of a "screw it, they're not licensed so I'll do what I want" (my words, not his), mentality That's why I'm super excited for his upcoming licensed titles, as at least one will have previously unseen asset art never before used in print or publicly shown (iirc). As for being "fakes", sure, they're bootlegs, and I'd LOVE to support licensed records, and I do regularly, but in this case he's getting and trying to get those licenses and not just continuing bootlegging to maximize a buck. He's building up a good reputation for quality and putting out records which otherwise we wouldn't be seeing. And he's not the only one doing that, but he's at least straight forward about it. For instance that unlicensed "rererelease" of Koji Kondo's Super Mario Bros 45 that's basically a clone of the original, that's being passed off as legit, and looks like a licensed product. That's going into a 3rd repressing. That's a lot different, IMO, because at least these are one-off runs nobody is going to mistake as the real deal. I mean you know what you're getting from first sight, which is nice. Just saying.

  9. // TOP 10 ALBUMS OF ALL TIME // So, last night I asked Small Talk what their Top 10 favorite albums of all time were. It made for an interesting discussion. Interesting to see what people are into, and it's to have more musical discussions on what is supposed to be a music website. (People from ST that already answered this, feel free to copy and paste.) There a few rules / stipulations that I put in place to try to keep this list on topic while you make it. Trust me, I know it's a tough one to make. It took me 3 hours to decide between an album, and pained me to go from 25 albums down to 10. But it might show you a little more about yourself, and you can learn about other people on this board. That, and we engage in discussions and critique people. Now, this doesn't mean be a hostile dick about it, but judge away people. Anyway, here are some things to consider while making your list: No repeat artists / bands. You can have associated acts. Ex: Two Sabbath albums, no. Sabbath, and Ozzy, that's fine. Album has to be older than 5 years old. Now this is coming from someone who is almost 30, so I don't know what the scale should be for 15yr olds making this list. You figure it out. It can be an EP / LP / Single / Comp. No greatest hits albums. If you have a greatest hits album as a favorite album you need to rethink your life. Try not to let this turn into a nostalgia / sentimental / most influential / pinnacle list . Those are all completely different lists. Now, this isn't a Desert Island in the sense that you feel the need for variety. Just list the 10 albums you can't live without. As you make this list ask yourself 'Can I live without this album?'. Your list doesn't have to be in order. Keep in mind these are 10 albums you could listen to on repeat until your death and you would not regret any choice. Preferred if you know how to air drum every album. Have at it, guys. Top 10 Albums Of All Time: // Foo Fighters - The Colour And The Shape (1997) // Nirvana - Nevermind (1991) // Black Sabbath - Master of Reality (1971) // Black Flag - Damaged (1981) // Caspian - Tertia (2009) // Between The Buried And Me - Colors (2007) // Queens Of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf (2002) // Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti (1975) // Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger (1991) // Green Day - Dookie (1994)

    Local H: Hey Killer

Any Local H fans in here? They just dropped a new album April 14th available on vinyl entitled Hey Killer. Haven't heard it yet, but I heard some of it during an interview with the band, and it sounded awesome. This is the first album recorded with the new drummer Ryan Harding. Sounds like he and Scott gel very well, and the new record came along quite naturally. I haven't scoured the internet for prices & such, but it's $17.99 at bestbuy.com. And like 50 cents cheaper (after shipping) directly from their website store: http://www.gandprecords.com/ Taken from their website: Produced by longtime pal and collaborator, Andy Gerber, and recorded at Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio studio and Gerber’s own Million Yen Studios (both in Chicago) --Hey, Killer is our first full length with Ryan Harding (the new guy) and our eighth studio album overall. Get this one.

    Help! I'm a newbie

Atlanta is definitely a fun place to record shop. Criminal Records, Wax 'n Facts, and Decatur CD can all be accessed by MARTA, and there's a train station in the airport that takes you directly into the city, which is really convenient. There's also the two Wuxtry Records locations: one in Decatur and one in Athens, which is about an hour's drive outside the city. I might be a little biased, but I think the Athens one is much better. If you end up deciding to make the trip out to Athens, Low Yo Yo Stuff is worth checking out as well. Like Fowty mentioned, there's a bunch of other fun things to do in the city as well, and most of the "touristy" stuff is easily accessible via MARTA, provided you don't mind taking public transit.

    Help! I'm a newbie

Atlanta has a couple of stores to hit up. Plus it's a fun little city. I can't speak for exactly what the stores have (a couple of people here can), but I can say the trip could be fun. Record shopping, the aquarium, and eating at a nice restaurant could make a freaking fantastic gift! Plus there's very little chance of snow. So that's a plus.

  15. Pretty good week for me - got a VPI 16.5 rcm, a pair of AKG K702 cans, and a Schiit Vali amp. Oh and found first presses of the first 3 Ramones records yesterday! Pretty much set for life now.

  16. Try and go an listen to this stuff if you can and don't focus on a figure you have to spend, have a top budget but if you find what you liek for half of it so be it, you have more to spend on records. Also don't discount a proper system with an amplifier and passive speakers, there's a lot of good stuff around and manufactures are now starting to put the phono stages back in their amplifiers, also if you have a proper amplifier you can run other sources into it which you can't do with powered speakers without plugging and unplugging leads or having some sort of switching unit that an amplifier already contains, that and having to adjust the volume on the front of the speaker all the time would annoy me. Have a look at makers like Music Hall or Cambridge Audio in your budget but also used equipment from these makers, also Music Hall make turntables that are effectively Projects anyway so you might get a package deal from them or a stockist. Edit Part used and part new or all used you can get a very nice sounding system for $1000, shop well and you could get a pretty decent one new for that.

  17. BEWARE: won item @ 24.50 refused sale, relisted at 59.99 BIN POOR POOR SELLER!!! Reply by irishgoose3 (Nov-29-15 10:37): THE TRUTH: Buyer did win item, Buyer wanted cheaper shipping, Buyer never paid. Follow-up by t***a (Nov-29-15 15:27): REQUIRED TO OFFER $4.00 for lps not $11 for ONE record. AVOID LIKE PLAGUE RUDE While I agree that $11 for one LP within the US is a lot, don't quite consider this to be "terrible seller" worthy. Perhaps I'm wrong, but how are they required to offer $4.00 for shipping? When on eBay there's two prices to look at when interested in an item, the bid price and the ship price. If either is to my dislike, I don't bid. Shady sure, but not terrible.

I may have had a few drinks tonight.

  20. Super weird to me to come back to checking VC and see so much indifference (at best) to DTGL. TOCS definitely did some fresh fun stuff and I love the heck out of it but it's odd to see that people into UO see DTGL as generic. To me it was such a flawless blend of their heavy stuff, melodic stuff and atmosphere, it just vibes. I thought the writing and style they nailed with it stood out vastly from anything else at the time but hey, maybe I just didn't have enough perspective being a 16 year old metalcore goon when it came out lol. To each their own but honestly DTGL is probably my biggest white whale. Anyway, bought regular Atlanta ticket since Orlando hadn't been announced yet (of course it was announced the following day), I'll probably grab this there if I can in the unfortunate event T&N/SS aren't smart enough to do individual not on white pressings so I don't have to trade a kidney and my SSN to someone on ebay or discogs to get DTGL.

  22. And I'm also with the Every Time I Die Boycott ETID is and will always be my favorite band! I was this close to thinking about selling my first press copy of The Big Dirty to TacoKing to help him get his ETID Collection back. I also had all of the ETID Lp's and am trying to get my collection back because I had to sell them over the last year when I really needed money but now that that Hot Topic ETID represses might not even happen which might mean they'll never at all. I'm holding on for dear life to the ETID records I do have. Some of these like Hot Damn And Big Dirty are so hard to find it's rediculous. Please for the love of God someone repress them!

  24. You see nothing shitty about it? Really? These dudes took time out of their life to drive to your town and sign your record because they're genuine dudes and care about their fans. Capitalism internet trump democracy. I'm sure the band would be stoked you're doing it. Sell it for what you want some idiot will buy it, but its still shitty to the artist.

  31. OK - I need to still figure out my Santa. That will be my next post but I solved my Flickr issue. My Santa scored well yet again this year. I got a sweet Numero Soul Collection and a classic Lee Fields LP - I've been holding off on buying any LF albums hoping my Santa got my letter. The Legos immediately were coopted by my five-year-old who allowed me to put that Lee Fields album on the turntable - I chilled, he built, it was a good hour. Love local coffee - thank you. Love the mix. Thank you. I need to find time to build those Star metal pieces but I appreciate the extra effort on the tools. Thanks for the early holiday cheer!

    PO: Adele - 25

Mine needed a clean but that was visible as soon as I took it out of the sleeve. It sounds perfect but I expect it will have sounded pretty poor had it not had a proper vacuum clean before I played it. Music wise I loved 19 immediately, 21 not so straight away but now I think I prefer it and I expect 25 will be the same. Million Years ago I expect will be the next single, she did a special on the BBC on the evening of the release day and she performed it along with Hello, Skyfall and a few from 19 an 25 but I'm quite liking River Lea. If you get chance to see any of the BBC stuff from Friday look out for a section where they do a mock TV talent show for Adele impersonators where they use prosthetics to change her appearance and she enters as an Adele impersonator, the looks on the fake Adele's faces when she starts to sing is priceless. 37. I'm so sick of the media giving everyone that kills someone/masses of people, who want to terrorize and put fear into others, their 15+ minutes of fame. They perpetuate these situations so, so much, and give these people (copy cat killer / terrorist organizations) the fuel to keep doing it. How and why do these terrorist organisations have Twitter accounts and social media accounts? It's fucking mind blowing. We have all this technology, yet we let them squeak through and put out their little videos and tweets, FB messages, whatever, and then the media runs with the story and makes it a big deal. That's exactly what they want, to be seen, and we give it to them. It's sad, really. It's like letting a little kid in class get up, start having a temper tantrum, and then award said child for doing so. Also, religion is the worst. None of this is a revelation, but nobody seems to want to put an end to it, so it continues.

  38. In theory, you can't. The only thing you can do is try and spread kindness to the strangers around you. Hate and kindness travel well. It's our small acts of kindness that empower us. Maybe I'm a fucking unrealistic doofus with this philosophy, but I'm not going to rely on some promise of a heaven to guide how I treat other humans. Sometimes we don't realize how everything we do in our everyday lives has an effect on the world.
