  1. I built this room in my basement from bare concrete up. I still would like to add a couple more posters and some lighting over the player but overall I'm pretty happy with the results. I love having the guitars on the wall! Sorry couldn't get good pics with my cell.

  4. He said he could be wrong. Modest Mouse is more popular though so I don't get how he's blatently wrong. If there was such a huge market they'd keep nin albums in print.

  5. Pumped for this. The new songs he played on this last tour were awesome. Slightly off topic, but I'll post it anyway. I spoke with Andrew a few weeks ago after a show when he was doing autographs, and asked if he's planning on a repress of Everything in Transit. He said he's working on it for next year. Warner Bros. wants to do it for Record Store Day, and he wants to do it himself (in his words, "a real bitchin' version with some b-sides") for the 10th anniversary. He said something to the effect of "it'll be out within the next year, whether or not I'll be smiling about it is up in the air at this point". Really good dude, if you go to a show, I highly recommend hanging out by his bus afterwards and getting a picture or something, he's great to talk to. Hopefully he's able to do it himself, as if it comes out for RSD, a lot of his fans still won't be able to get it.

  13. All aboard. ///// WHAT IT IS People like free records. People like to feel good about themselves. And people like to free up shelf space. Why not take the opportunity to enjoy all three of these luxuries in one single thread? +Karma Train is an ongoing giveaway of good feels and free records. The rules are simple: one item is offered up at a time, and will be raffled off through various means. Enter if the record appeals to you, but note that if you win, it is your turn to clear some shelf space and give away a prize of your own choosing. ///// HOW IT WORKS There aren't too many rules at all. The winner of each giveaway becomes the raffler for the next, and it will be up to them to set any specifications, which should be made clear well before it is time to determine a winner. Some things you may want to consider, if it is your turn to give away an album: Are you limiting your giveaway to members in your country? Are you willing to ship outside of your country, if the winner covers the costs? Should the winner be required to have a certain amount of posts? How many entrants will you allow? 10? 20? Everyone? At what point will you cut off entrants? Using a # cap? ("First 20") Or by time? ("One week from this post.") Do you have a mailer and shipping supplies on hand? Are you willing to cover the cost of shipping, or will you be asking for ~$4 to cover Media Mail? How will you draw names?* From a hat? Using a random generator? Name tags fastened to a slip mat? Most of these things should be established in either a post or a PM to yours truly. I will update the first post of this thread to ensure that we're all on the same page at all times. *If you do not have a method of drawing names, I will create a looped GIF to randomly generate names for you. You may draw or you may have me draw in your place. Whichever you prefer. ///// THE GREEN LIGHT • NEW! Effective May 19, 2014, there will be a new rule implemented to this thread. This is the green light rule, and ensures that no one is taken advantage of. The rule is simple: if you win a raffle, you will not receive your prize until you've submitted an entry of your own. This means that you must verify what you'll be giving away, when you'll be declaring a winner, and also confirming that you have both funds and materials to physically ship the prize out. If you do not have the means of shipping a prize, you will not receive your record. (And you probably shouldn't be entering in the giveaways to begin with.) Members who fail to abide by this rules of this thread will be added to a black list, where they will be denied entry to all future giveaways. All it takes is one member being shitty to derail this whole thread... so let's all be on-the-ball, and see how far we can take this thing. 14. One of my local record stores does weekly giveaways. The last week's was 90's Indie. My wife won them and only found out what the records were when we picked them up. One was Pavement's Wowee Zowee and the other was Neutral Milk Hotel's In The Aeroplane Over The Sea. Say what you will, but I have never liked that NMH record even after giving it multiple tries over several years. I know loads of people love that record so I figured we could trade. It is brand new, in the shrink, 180 gram. http://www.discogs.com/Neutral-Milk-Hotel-In-The-Aeroplane-Over-The-Sea/release/2173833 Here's a brief list of things I'd like to trade for. I would really like to do an even swap where we each pay for the shipping of the record we're trading. I'm listing things that are of equal price or similar if they're used. It would be nice to get something that is new if at all possible. All wants on my end are for vinyl of course. Smashing Pumpkins - Gish (Reissue), Pisces Iscariot (Reissue) Pearl Jam - Backspacer Radiohead - Kid A, Hail to the Thief, The King of Limbs Deftones - Diamond Eyes, Around the Fur, Deftones Minus the Bear - This is What I Know About Being Gigantic Bonobo - The North Borders Oceansize - 7" singles Let me know if you'd like to trade!

  20. Anybody see the tweet earlier about the forthcoming Re-Animator and Day of the Dead reissues? I know the liquid filled Re-Animator had been mentioned in the thread, couldn't remember if Day of the Dead had been mentioned. I only saw it as a push notification on my iPhone (which was cut off halfway through the tweet), and when I launched the Twitter app the tweet had already been deleted - but it appears news will be coming soon on these!

  25. I found it! The HWM / TOM was 150 pressed. (I will eventually draw a cover for the 2 that are left with no covers). For the other comment, I don't really look at Ebay or Discogs when I find old records. I just wing it. Someone went for it right away, so... take that as you will. Thanks for the input, as always!

  36. Kind of disappointed by this album. It's not a step forward, or back, it's just the same stuff. Plus the lyrics are way too boring on this, but maybe that's because i'm used to them. I like the storytelling, but it's so literal, too literal.

Yo, long time no post, I'm still not dead lol. Been busy writing tunes and getting into car accidents (if you follow Converge you probably saw my trashed car haha). Had that "Distant relative that you don't know very well but somehow still left you some money when they died" thing happen to me so I kinda splurged over the summer. Porter Robinson - Worlds (Clear) Touche Amore - Is Survived By (Opaque Blue /11499) Anamanaguchi - Endless Fantasy (Clear/Splatter) Being As An Ocean - How We Both Wondrously Perish (Flesh /1200) Architects - Lost Forever // Lost Together (Canadian Exclusive Clear /300) Relient K - MMHMM (Preorder) La Dispute - Wildlife (brown/black /1000) Real Friends - Everyone That Dragged You Here (Trans. My new baby, Fender Thinline Tele '72 Reissue. Also: Ibanez 8 string and 6 string bass (not as stoked for these as the tele) Canon T4i and a Rokinon Fisheye for it Tender Abuse print from J Replaced my totaled car with a 2008 Altima Various other bullshit The rest is in savings where I can't blow it like an idiot shitlord. Sorry for the huge post, I should probably stop disappearing for months at a time lol.

  40. Hard to say without seeing but generally things framed in this manner have a lifespan of around 16 - 18 months. After that period they'll still look fine in the frame but will likely be unplayable. For this reason most people choose the single glass frames, which have a much longer lifespan (with regards to future playability). What I do when I want to use the nicer double glass version is frame the jacket but use some construction paper and cut colored 12" circles to match the vinyl color. It's hard to duplicate the art on the labels but at first glance most people won't even notice. This only works for standard colored variants. You'll need paint supplies for splatter and marbled records. TL;DR Your records are probably fine.
