  1. Been meaning to do this for awhile.

  2. I have a job interview for a studio coordinator position at School of Rock next week. I'm pretty fucking stoked on it. Between the insanely nerdy email I sent the manager/owner, my obsession for music, my work experience, my years of touring, and the fact that a family friend (who works in radio) knows the owner, referred me, and talked me up, my chances are pretty damn good. The gig is my kind of hours, only 25 minutes away, and most importantly revolves around music. For anyone who isn't familiar with School of Rock, it's a music school just like how they do at the end of the movie, but bigger - so it's a music school. Fingers crossed for this, cause it's a job I can do well, somewhere I'd actually want to work, there's room for growth, and most importantly I can talk about music all day long! This can be my life now:

  3. Credit to jonrawks, who posted this on the cassette forum. Fans of post-BM style music (DFHVN, Alcest, WITTR, etc.) but are put off by the screeching demonic vocals, AND....has quite a bit of quiet piano interludes between the blast beats, should find this instrumental solo project from Azerbaijan worth a shot Violet Cold - Magic Night I picked up a tape - along with a D&D from the Sheath on Thursday, as a true Caspian and Sheath fan

  9. So for the last 2 hours my girlfriend and I have been in the living room periodically complaining about our shitty neighbors listening to music way too loud. At a few points we were like "Are they in the fucking hallway right now?" I went into the bedroom to grab something just now...the music was coming out off our echo dot. We checked the cloud for the audio command that started it. The text was "Echo...play" but the audio was...one of the cats meowing repeatedly for about 5 seconds. The fucking cat meowed in such a way that the echo activated....and heard "play"

  10. Stop by your local UO... I just got the Angus OST for $1.25 and Mike Posner At Night, Alone for $7.50. They are having an extra 40% off on all sale vinyl this weekend and there's a good selection out.

  14. Did someone use the word elitist? My ears were ringing. Frutiger75 is surprised people buy records from a variety of artists instead of just 2-3. Frutiger75 rationalizes people do this because they can't budget their vinyl funds. Frutiger75 is very fond of Thesaurus.com and uses it to try hard. Don't be a Frutiger75.

  16. Since individual threads about most of these releases would only garner one or two replies, here is a general thread to post about recent releases you like... Ubik Demo Awesome punk from Australia. Best new band I've heard this year! Been listening to this tape a lot! https://lostinfog.bandcamp.com/album/ubik-demo Sold out from the label, but you may still be able to find it in some distros. Innumerable Form - Petrified / Joyess https://innumerableforms.bandcamp.com/ http://painkillerrecords.limitedrun.com/products/584222-innumerable-forms-petrified-joyless-cassette Sick death metal cassingle. Only two songs, leave you wanting more! Space Echo - po-16 https://ostresamigos.bandcamp.com/album/po-16 Experimental sci-fi music. Highly recommended! (still one left from the bandcamp as I'm posting this) Urochromes - Beat Sessions vol. 2 https://shouturochromes.bandcamp.com/ Beat Sessions vol. 1 with Uranium Club was awesome. Vol. 2 is great too! Looking forward to this series continuing. 6/27 Tapes Cocaine Out The Gate 3 Alienation Party I recently discovered this label 6/27 Tapes. Sick mixtapes with a lot of variety from the label! http://627tapes.bigcartel.com/ Three new releases just put up for order.... "Nitwit Picnic 2", " Love is Cosmic", and "Gutteral Perversions". Can't wait to get them!

  18. Yep. I'm not even gonna bother with a US press since European pressings are usually higher quality. I'm fine with $23 apiece considering how long I've waited on these.

  19. Possibly controversial argument: Ghosts is better than any RHP release (even Roller Coaster and Ocean Beach).... But every SKM release after Ghosts is worse than any RHP release. And no I won't sell you my copy of Ghosts I bought for $12 back in the day.

  20. Got Candi Staton "I'm Just A Prisoner" finally this week. Had to pay $50 for it, but outside of a little crackle it sounds incredible. Been on a big southern soul kick lately: Aretha, Johnnie Taylor, Ann Peebles, Otis, Candi, just can't get enough. Would love to find that first Irma Thomas but yeah good luck to me

  22. The album is great and than he enters with his subpar crap and stupid storytelling. It's like he can no longer represent something without telling you his exact thoughts, where he was, what he did. RHP was so powerful in writing thought provoking songs

  26. The aquarium and MoPOP (formerly EMP) fall on the touristy end of the spectrum, but are both worth going to. Also a dynamite vegan Chinese place by MoPOP. T - Look into OneBusAway if you haven't (can't remember if I mentioned it before). It doesn't plan trips for you, but it gives you real accurate bus times and lists/maps stops. Makes figuring out which bus to take and when you need to leave a lot easier. Also, there is a cask beer festival at the end of March. Think that's something you both might be interested in. It's decently priced and they're a good way to try a ton of local breweries.

  27. Same here. Listening for the third time in a row right now, also just about to finish The Secret History. Although it's unreasonably expensive over here (50-55€), there's no denying that it's an impeccable slap of vinyl with some truly outstanding art design. Perfect for all those rainy ass Sunday afternoons we're facing at the moment.

  29. Meteora is decent and I own Hybrid Theory on vinyl for the lulz. I haven't even listened to anything since the Jay-Z collab album. That being said, this is the worst thing I've ever heard in my life. Seriously. I don't have the best tastes but holy shit even my 7 week old daughter got pissed when I played that.

  34. Ryley Walker - Golden Sings That Have Been Sung [Deep Cuts Edition] http://download.deadoceans.com DOC124.1NCXTFC (that second 1 maybe be a lowercase L, not positive) I already have MP3s of this album but not of the 40-minute bonus track, so it would be super-cool if whoever downloaded it would PM me and send me a link to that specifically one they download it.

  35. The pricetag is dumb you could buy like 3-4 Parliament albums for that price, and have the very sound he is emulating. Not trying to be a total hater, this album is decent but it's just sounds like he just tried to copy that sound. Also no Parliament album will have a song as annoying as that "she wants to go to California" song or whatever he says

  36. Plenty of people focus on specific things to collect, but this is a vinyl forum, so I'm not sure why you'd expect folks here to collect cds/vhs/etc. I personally collect a couple different discographies, but I'm a non-pic disc LP only collector for the most part. I don't go in for compilations, 7", cds and that sort of thing. I'll generally grab non-7" EPs too. I also don't go in for variant collecting since I prefer to own music from as many artists I enjoy as possible rather than just a few.

  39. I have googled it and I certainly didn't see anything that said 100% not happening. In fact there was a lot of activity in January seemingly indicating it might happen. Your claim makes it sound like you have some source of certainty; no need to be terse about it just link what you're talking about.

  40. Recently put mine on the ground with a 1 year old. I just give him a good stern 'NO' when he starts to play with them. He seems responsive that he knows whats on/off limits. At the end of the day, they're just records and can be replaced. If you have some holy-grails just place them up high somewhere if you're worried about it

  41. Tapes obviously aren't ideal, but this release gave me an excuse to throw some money at the Sheath. More support equals more records and I want those Jakobs. Plus I love that they released D&D in some format. They gave us Caspian from the start, so I think it's cool how it's come full circle. Nothing against TC, but I miss the Sheath preorder parties on their message board and the handwritten notes. Long live the Sheath.
