  3. I love this show. I love the music. But I'd never listen to it outside watching the show. However, this is one of the few pressings revovling around a show that I can say "OK that's pretty damn cool". First off, Sub Pop does no wrong. Secondly, that pricing is great. Thirdly, having a regular option and a deluxe option is awesome. You can get all of it for under $30, or go wild with the deluxe, instead of most other labels where they make you shell out an arm and a leg for just your one option of deluxe. This show has a huge cult following so I can see the appeal. You buy it and listen to it, good for you. You buy it and shelf it, OK, fine. Seriously though, that pricing is great so (even though I'm not buying it) no one should complain about it. That's a great release in all aspects. Now if they did Home Movies music on vinyl... Give. Me. Now.

  6. Then what's the difference between this vinyl release and any other collectible? So you're saying that anyone that collects things that aren't of actual use (e.g. action figures, vintage coins, old issues of TV Guide) aren't adults as they're throwing away their money on useless items? If so, fair opinion. But this forum seems like a weird place to be proclaiming your adulthood from a mountain top. We have avatars and post thousands of messages about vinyl records. None of us are adults here.

  8. Stating your opinion shouldn't rain on anyone's parade. Honestly, it's bewildering to me that you can't find any excitement in any of the mindbogglingly awesome records that the Mars Volta put out, grammy's and all. Saying nothing that Omar has done has excited you really makes me think you just weren't paying attention because the guy has released upwards of 40 albums in that time. Saying not one of them excites you is just lazy, especially if you enjoyed ATDI. It baffles me that people are expecting 40+ year old dudes to bang out the same old shit they did when they were 18. I thought everyone knew by now that it just doesn't happen, ever. They're different people, with different circumstances. Enjoy it for what it is, or don't. And everyone harps on that reunion, where Omar stated he hated every last bit of it because his mom died right at the beginning of it. I'm not sure about you guys, but I give him a pass. By all accounts, the most recent touring was outstanding, Jim Ward or not.

  10. https://megamart.subpop.com/releases/bobs_burgers/the_bobs_burgers_music_album Bob’s Burgers premiered on the Fox network January 2011, and quickly became one of the most watched series on television. After enjoying the highest-rated new season premiere of the 2010-11 season, Bob’s Burgers quickly settled into an average viewership of over 4 million per episode. The show has won an Emmy award and been nominated five times, including a current nomination for Outstanding Animated Program. It has inspired many popular spinoff items, including a recent, best-selling cookbook. With the seventh season set to premiere this fall, Bob’s Burgers’ cultural influence only grows. Now comes The Bob’s Burgers Music Album, featuring 107 songs from the first 107 episodes (all six existing seasons), plus five special cover versions of songs from the show. Originally broadcast within the episodes – and often in abbreviated form – these songs appear here in their freestanding glory for the first time. The Bob’s Burgers Music Album – in both its affordable standard editions and its impressive deluxe edition – is sure to be a top gift item this holiday season. • The album features the main cast members – Bob (Jon Benjamin) and Linda (John Roberts) and their children Tina (Dan Mintz), Gene (Eugene Mirman) and Louise (Kristen Schaal) – singing original songs that build on the show’s unique sense of humor. • Also featured are many of the show’s recurring and special guests, from comedians like Aziz Ansari, Sarah Silverman, Kevin Kline, Paul Rudd, Bill Hader, Zack Galifianakis, and Fred Armisen, to musical guests Cyndi Lauper and Carly Simon. • Includes five never-aired “Bob’s Buskers” cover versions of songs from the show performed by St. Vincent, the National, Lapsley, and Stephin Merritt of Magnetic Fields. • Three standard versions: 2xCD set, 3xLP+7”, and digital. • Deluxe limited-edition 3 LP+7” box set includes “condiment-colored” vinyl (ketchup red, mustard yellow & relish green), plus a hardbound lyrics book with exclusive Bob’s Burgers artwork, a soft cover sheet-music songbook, three original posters, a six-piece sticker pack, and a patch. Both the standard and deluxe LP editions include the five “Bob’s Buskers” tracks on a white 7” single.

  13. Exactly! And so much music is mixed this way. It makes me laugh when people were bitching in 1993 that In Utero sounded "shitty" and "low quality" and I'm over here like, "that's what sound sounds like. They aced that shit." People are afraid of real sound.

  18. In My Room features the unreleased recordings of what would have been the very last album of The Gun Club. Recorded in the very last period of the band, between 1991 and 1993 - the studio recordings that Jeffrey Lee Pierce did with The Gun Club, with maximum quality and excellence of sound and presentation. What Jeffrey Lee Pierce exposes here is the highest vocal and guitar performing, from sounds are reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix and Television, to truly intimate heartbreaking blues, going through soul and rock. Includes covers from The Who, Wilson Picket, and more. A dream come true for all Jeffrey Lee Pierce/The Gun Club fans all over the world - absolutely necessary. Comes in a deluxe gatefold jacket; Includes lyrics; 150 gram vinyl; Edition of 500. PRE-ORDER HERE - http://www.forcedexposure.com/Catalog/gun-club-the-in-my-room-lp/BANG.107LP.html Apparently this was a bonus CD on the Lucky Jim double CD release from Flow Records, which I've never heard. Nevertheless, I want this and I just wanted to start a Gun Club thread because they were so fucking amazing and underrated.

  19. I think that's how most of us feel me included, sadly there are still members here who get on their high horse and whinge about changing pressing numbers which fundamentally highlights a lack of understanding of the whole manufacturing process on their part. It happened in the Numero Group White Zombie box set thread too if memory serves as well as a few others. I'd agree its not worth delving deeper to see these disputes because they pan out exactly as you would imagine with most people siding against the aggrieved party. End of the day more records for the people who want them is a winner for everyone unless your whole love for the medium of vinyl is based on scarcity and what your resale portfolio looks like.

  20. Yeah, McPherson's posts are definitely on point and articulate; I get that it's all exaggeration and hyperbole, like I said. I've just never seen the "real" counterparts of what he's ridiculing. Like yesterday in that ATDI thread; there was an hour of confusion where it looked like Rise had replenished the "limited to 500" variant, and then removed the rarity from the description. Under the illusion that the /500 wasn't out of 500 at all, a few people commented something akin to "lol, Rise records... how typical", and that was that. I didn't see mention of crocodile tears or threats to cancel orders, or anything that would suggest the new boost in quantity would render their record inferior. I don't know, it just seems like a far reach for a parody. Maybe I should browse the Anberlin thread or something for context, though that's something I really have no desire to do. If someone is legitimately sweating their /200 variant actually being /250 or /400, or scoffs at a "one time only" boxset becoming available again, they can rightfully fuck off and give up on the world of vinyl while they're at it.

  22. as per usual, if anyone had heard anything about a release that big it'd be talked about here, /r/vinyl, and I'm sure some other vinyl news things would pick it up to. No news means that big label bureaucracy is going on if it is even in the works. I mean, shh, we're all hiding the important information in a separate group chat for the cool kids. Not like it'll sound particularly good if the FUTCT was anything to go off of...

  23. I think Bob's Burgers is great and I've watched the entire series multiple times. I think the dumb little songs are hilarious and a unique part of the show. I would probably rip my hair out if I had to listen to them all in a row, one after the other.

  24. Although I have to admit that my interested took a drastic turn after Frances, I made sure to give every Volta record a fair chance and a couple of attentive listens. I dug most of Noctourniquet, but their artistic direction after De-Loused just wasn't for me. Sounds great! It's nice to hear some positive feedback to their shows. I saw them in Berlin last year and it was pretty lackluster, but fine. I mean, when someone whose early output you enjoy releases ten albums you don't really like, you're not eager to listen to the next thirty. I skipped a lot of his solo recordings, not all, and listened to all of his band projects (just listened to Crystal Fairy a minute ago). I'm not one to dismiss former favorite artists' music too early and wouldn't say his stuff sucks, but over the last ten years or so I definitely got the impression that Omar wasn't the singular driving force behind ATD-I that made their music great and neither was Cedric. Loving all the Sparta records manifested that, for me. I don't expect them to do the exact same thing they did two decades ago, but if they want to do things differently, then why chose to do so under that name? These guys already have a band that's doing the whole sounds kinda like ATD-I but we're older now-thing in Antemasque and 'finally getting all the guys together' certainly doesn't play a role, so I fail to grasp the reasoning behind this reunion (some might say there's money to be made).

  26. Been checking his site on and off the last few months to see if these would ever pop up and they finally did. $55 for the 4x12" set. There's some options to package it with the Seasons 4x12" set to save yourself some money by bundling. A couple of signed package options also. https://merch.jonforeman.com/collections/music/products/the-wonderlands-vinyl-box-set

  27. So I got my copy in from Amazon.jp today (forgot to cancel before they shipped). They sent it on Tuesday and it arrived today - incredible - and it was packed to perfection. But if you guys ordered you won't be disappointed. It sounds fantastic. And the packaging is gorgeous with an obi, double LP gatefold with nice sleeves, and a booklet with a few pages of liner notes and art.

  28. And to add onto that: I'm not going to deny that it feels cool to own something limited. I've shelled out good money for rare variants over the years, so I get the appeal. But throwing a tantrum (or canceling your order) because something isn't as hard-to-obtain as you initially thought it just ridiculous. That's channeling some elementary playground behavior, where you're not content with your shiny new LED-bottom shoes because other kids start to wear them. The biggest gripe I have with fluctuating scarcity is that I have to go back into my record logs and tweak the quantity, or revise a Discogs submission. That's it. If you're all about that flipping life, I'm sure it's a bigger deal. But if you're buying what you believe is good music that you plan on enjoying and holding onto, why wouldn't you want others to have the same opportunity? Putting exclusiveness on a pedestal above everything else is just juvenile – I think that's really what I'm trying to say here.

  35. I have this one https://www.discogs.com/Metallica-Metallica/release/6133023 And this one https://www.discogs.com/Metallica-Metallica/release/389765 They both sound fantastic. I may actually prefer the Simply Vinyl copy (second link). It's got a little more in the upper range. SV usually isn't known for great sound but this one and Manson - PoaAF sound superb. I had the new Blackened mastering, but quickly sold it after it didn't offer any improvements over the others.

  36. Yeah, maybe it's just user error (which seems quite common these days). The sonics on the new TBA are very good and recommended. I have an original press and it's pretty comparable.

  39. I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade here, but I'm in bewilderment seeing how people are going shitballs over this preorder. And I'm actually curious about people's affection with 2017's edition ATD-I, considering the shitfest of a reunion tour, Cedric's bedazzling personal development as a somewhat public figure and the gaping hole in creativity and actual correlation to their heyday that is Jim Ward being completely absent. Is it old affection to the name? Or did you guys enjoy all the Volta and whatnot records of recent years? Did you see them play and they were the legitimately best thing ever? Do you hate Jim Ward?! It kinda still hurts saying this, considering how much I adore all their original output, but I'm not looking forward to this, because there's nothing about it to get me excited. It's not that I'm sure the record is gonna blow. Antemasque didn't, kinda. But not a single member of ATD-I (minus Ward, but..) put out anything exciting in 14 years, for me, personally. Also skipping through some videos of their recent touring really showed just how much youthful energy they put into their recordings, and how unable they are today to reproduce any of that.

  40. It is so unbelievably good. First impressions are nudging me to say it's his best album yet. The grit and crushing weight of the heavier moments hit harder than anything to date, and I found myself equally awed and lost in the haze of the dronier passages. There's one in particular bit where I felt like I was slowly dying in the most comfortable way possible.

  41. Correct it is just my opinion, but everybody's saying Stout does the same thing over and over can say the exact same about Mitchell. And saying it's sells thousands of copies doesn't really mean anything, Grown Ups 2 beat Pacific Rim in the box office... so sometimes numbers are stupid.

    Video Game OSTs v2.0

Their preorder status page recently updated its status to "Shipment Confirmed" for mid-late February. Fairly sure this means that they will receive the copies this month (which pretty much means this week) and presumably shipping will start shortly after. HLD is still slated for February, but I imagine it will be pushed into March since there hasn't been any status changes or updates on that one.
