  4. Got some homemade cards and picture frames from the kids. Had a nice BBQ this afternoon with all the family and my sister gave me tickets to see Russell Peters in the fall. She's a single mom, and I've always done all the "dad" things with her daughter, so she always gets me something. It was a good day!

  6. What did you get? I'm currently eating wings and drinking beer with my wife and daughter, so that's great. Wife bought me two LPs I've wanted: Beatles White Album and Lorde's Pure Heroine.

  7. My wife told me to get a couple albums I wanted. I'm really undecided about what I should get. I just discovered Caves - Betterment and I really like it. I also really like the Cleanup - Sun Life album that is going to be released. There's also the new Braid record, so many good things coming out, I can't make up my mind.

  11. Beginner’s Guide to Hi–Fi Created to hopefully aid anyone venturing into this stressful, beautiful hobby. I will update this with more information whenever I have time to waste. Anyone is welcome to chime in. Basic Hi-Fi Chain: SOURCE -> AMPLIFICATION -> SPEAKERS (click to jump to section) The source component reads the recorded information and translates it into the signal that will be later perceived as sound. Amplification takes that signal and amplifies it (no, really?) in order to make it strong enough to move the drivers of the speaker. A speaker is a collective of drivers that are moved by the signal, producing air pressure in front of them which to us, mortal beings, means hearing sound. When putting together a hi-fi setup, always keep in mind: The end result will only be as good as the weakest link. Buying an expensive turntable and a good phono preamp is useless if you're using cheap computer speakers. By no means should you decide to just get a shitty turntable then. Instead, think carefully how to ration your budget across all important components. Jump to setting up & use: SOURCE, AMPLIFICATION, SPEAKERS LIST OF RECCOMENDED EQUIPMENT FOR DIFFERENT BUDGETS

    Pledgemusic: Low Roar

The first record is listed on Discogs for €200, but has never sold for it. You can buy it for a much saner price here: http://tonequake.com/shop/low-roar-physical-album?mode=Xproduct-drilldown&artist_name= or here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B0RRP2I/ref=s9_simh_co_p15_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=typ-top-left-1&pf_rd_r=0TJQ20Q1Z5JZR8SXF323&pf_rd_t=3201&pf_rd_p=1780082482&pf_rd_i=typ01 The price was so sane (and the trans-Atlantic shipping so reasonable) that I bought it. I listened to this first: http://lowroar.bandcamp.com/ My girlfriend said it sounded like Radiohead. I see her point, but the difference is, this is good.

  26. My store had three more copies. I picked out the best two when I went yesterday, but the damage wasn't too bad on the rest of them. It was mostly corner dings/bends. I could stop by after work tomorrow and pick you up one. I could even text you a picture of them before I buy one so you can see what condition it's in.

  28. It'll be changed pretty soon, but it's currently this album that I've been digging on a fair bit, for the last month or two. Also, nice signature. It's about damn time that film sees the light of day.

  34. Pretty happy with it. Yellow is cool, jacket and folded insert are nice. Although, for $30+, better inner sleeves would be appreciated. Be sure to use a carbon fiber brush before play to get those papery bits off.

    Zeppelin Vinyl Reissues

The Hoffman forum is the place to go. Some may consider them "psychopaths"... Honestly there's just a lot of overly-anal listeners on there. But you can read literally pages (and PAGES) about the sonics of these reissues... including waveforms, DR levels, and separate threads for vinyl, CD, and HD Tracks. The Hoffman people are to sonic analysis as VC people are to colored variants of Warped Tour acts.

  39. Ugh, that timeframe when TTTYG was repressed by Hot Topic was horrible for me. I was going through a breakup and buying EVERY record I possibly could. I was just getting into vinyl, too, so I was just building a collection... jesus I spent so much money on records. It seemed like Hot Topic was pressing everything I ever loved as a early teen, lol. Now they're doing it more, but I just can't spend $20+ on a bunch of records anymore, so I only opt to get the Blink splatter represses lately it seems.

  43. 50 copies of the clear variant of this album went up for purchase on VinylLoop yesterday but just there are just 22 left currently. Clear vinyl, free poster, and free US shipping for $16.00 is a pretty good deal - jump on it if you're interested!

  45. So I just moved on the 1st and used this opportunity to rearrange my setup. I had previously been using Expedits, but grew tired of having to tilt my neck to find records. I ended up building a couple of those record store style LP bins so that lets me flip through records. I had a bunch of friends over a couple of days ago, and people couldn't help but flip through records and pull stuff to ask about or listen to. That never ever happened with the Expedits, as it just was too much trouble squinting your eyes to read the spines. Anyway, pretty happy about how they turned out. EDIT: In case anyone is interested, I got the plans from this thread: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=337891 Cost me under $50 in materials for each bin (the sheet of plywood being $40 of it). Took a couple of hours screwing everything together. I had the hardware store do the main cuts, and did the smaller cuts at home using a circular saw.

  46. TThat's a good question being that it's probably one of the less popular blink albums.

  47. since Buddha was more than the other single LPs, do you think it was partly due to Interpunk already releasing it and/or it being a different style splatter? being not as popular and the fact that it is still available I was just surprised, as others, that it was a little more. ---keeping this thread on topic is like a monkey trying to ride a fling pig, just not gonna happen---

  50. You severely misunderstand what exactly constitutes a scam. The listing did not even claim that the record was out of print or scarce in any way.
