The SYNTHWAVE Thread
Mourning Wood and 6 others reacted to bloodmusic for a topic
So much speculation on here: * The Perturbator vinyl craze has died down. Oh it has? I didn't even mention this was live anywhere, and this was his biggest launch ever. * $13 is too much to ship within the USA. I am located in Helsinki Finland, and I have to maintain two warehouses and also have to pay someone to ship for me in USA - I think that's a pretty small price to pay because paying to ship to you from Finland would probably be 40+ EUR. * $30 is too much to ship within Europe. Well as far as I know, shipping a ~2kg package within Europe from almost any other country besides Germany will run you a pretty penny. -- Thank you to everyone who supported thus far! And yeah, IT'S ALL LIVE FOR PRE-ORDER: http://www.blood-music.com/store7 points -

Post Your Record Storage Area
texan4life and one other reacted to lilmuse for a topic
I'm moving the end of the month which means I get to re-setup my record storage/playing area. It's one of the things I'm most excited about. Thinking I should get some extra shelving now so that I don't end up having to adjust for more space later. Get to see the new apt this weekend. Bringing a tape measure specifically for this task. finally got around to building two of these. one is from the audio karma specs other I just went with longer boards to get 3 spaces out of it. Had a local carpenter build drawers and paint. All cost less then around 200 bucks for everything from material to carpenter fee.2 points -

I'm assuming this is aimed at me so: I can only buy one copy of each record, so your chances are reduced by one IF you are at the same store as me and behind me in the queue. If I'm looking to get any more, I have to go to the back of the queue like anyone else. So yeah, there's a chance I might prevent you getting a copy, but a 'massive fan' should be taking into account everyone, not just one person who is buying one copy for another 'massive fan' who is thousands of miles away. Worry about the flippers and the people who camp out 24 hours in advance, not me.2 points

Yup, it will be expensive, but worth it. Sometimes you just need to spend money on yourself. I have the tendency to horde it all in my bank account, and never enjoy it. That money won't mean shit if I were to die for some reason, and all it would mean is worked at a job I hate for no reason.1 point -

Record Store Day 2016
Deoxitizer reacted to ExtraFox for a topic
Down looks like it's been cancelled. Not on the US list and searches on the German and UK sites for Nola give no results1 point -
Some sample prices for UK to US shipping. Insured for up to £20; no tracking (higher insurance levels and tracking available at higher cost). Don't take these as gospel, but they won't vary by much. 1LP (up to 0.5kg): £8.60 2LPs (up to 0.75kg): £11.40 Up to 1kg: £14.00 They include Paypal fees. Paypal friends and family is slightly cheaper but you lose the Paypal safety net. It may be possible to treat it as a group buy and send everything to one volunteer who sends things on. This would be a lot cheaper for most if not all but requires commitment and coordination. All these things will become much clearer after the UK leftovers go up online. This is one week later over here. You can sometimes find things up earlier in mainland Europe but this is strictly enforced in the UK.1 point

this release was canceled due to horrible pre-orders. I think they only sold 1 to tug and just canceled the whole release.1 point -
OK, I've been in touch with everyone except for MayCauseDeath as I got a message saying you cannot receive any more messages. I assume that means clean out your inbox! I have seven in my Parkway Drive queue and five in my Nirvana. No others go more than three right now. I will always keep looking as long as someone wants me too. Last year I found copies of the Placebo record at FNAC.pr. No idea how many I could have bought, but I got three to top me up to the five I was looking for. Never give up hope number 7! If you haven't heard from me or still want to make a request, it's best to PM me. I'm not the only one in the UK who has offered to help; allenh has as well earlier in this thread. Finally, I've said a few times I can't be sure of being at the front of the queue until I find out what shift I'm working on the Friday. I am 99% sure that all will be OK, but can't confirm until March 20th. I'll post here rather than tell everyone individually. I will also let people know if they move forward in a queue. This is what makes RSD fun for me and as long as everyone pays up doing it is a pleasure (how much depends on the weather)1 point

Honestly, if you're buying the LP don't stress about where you're getting it from. Buying it at Urban helps us because if our stuff keeps selling they will keep carrying it and gives our bands a much larger reach around the country. Like I said before, getting records in Urban is HARD. On the other side of that, we do make more money on direct sales. In short, as long as you're purchasing a copy you don't need to worry too much about where it's coming from.1 point
