  2. i too am tired of repressed records. If we don't speak for them and their rights, who will? If not now, when?
    6 points
  3. No. Jesus, people in 2013 bitching and moaning about records being available to everyone. Unbeliavable. Buy that shit for the content. Then if said record for whatver reason becomes really sought after: SCORE! Other wise you still have something to play with once you get old and tired. It has always been like that, always will be. It's the market and its fluctuations that makes a record 'rare', not a sticker that says limited or variants.

    All Time Top 10?

Off the top of my head and in no real order, one album per band or like half of it would be Mogwai: Built to Spill - Perfect From Now On Mogwai - CODY Godspeed - F#A# Hood - Silent '88 Rodan - Rusty Slint - Spiderland Grouper - AIA Modest Mouse - Sad Sappy Sucker Eluvium - Copia Codeine - The White Birch

  7. TMR has plenty of gimmicks but most of the stuff they do is actually cool and interesting when it comes to gimmicky presses. However, they are one of a few labels who will do their gimmick press of a title and then keep it in print on black so as to cut down on any exclusivity and color press chasing so if you just want to listen to it, you have the standard black press option always available to you. Keeping in-demand titles in print = doing it right, regardless of how many gimmick presses exist. The second hand market is blown out of proportion by the "collectors" and the flippers. If you're playing that game, you deserve the headache.

  10. Hosting a BB season finale dinner. Fried chicken baskets, blue meth candy, ice cream, drinks and shots all inspired by the show. Going all out, bitch! So incredibly excited and sad for this to end.

  11. Stop buying into the bullshit hype of of "collecting" and buy records that you want to listen to. Why on Earth is buying a record ANYTHING like a funeral? What?

  12. Not the least bit mad, we definitely have differing views on this and I'm totally cool with that.

  13. Least limited or not, I still think the clear/cyan is the coolest one I've seen!

  14. Or ebay deja for $250 BIN and it'll sell immediately, or wait a week for an auction it and it'll sell for $300+. If you are actually in serious need of cash, that will work way better.

  15. If you are in "serious need of cash" then just say what you want for them.

  17. To the OP. Here's more limited, "collectible" locks.

  18. Pretty sure OP paid like 150 or more for an RSD copy of Elephant and recently went to a local record store and saw that they had 5 copies for 25 bucks and is just butt mad.

  19. the only thing that sucks is forgetting to do your research, buying something for a lot of money on ebay, and finding out it's being repressed in the near future. but it's your own damn fault.

  22. I understand the concept of a metaphor. My issue is that your metaphor is grossly diluted by your misguided ideology on vinyl record production, usage, supply and sale.

  23. Aren't you the one being greedy by saying you want limited pressings to stay limited so not everyone has the chance to buy them? I hate that type of "collector" mentality, it just reminds me of comic book guy from the Simpsons. Who cares how limited something is? It has no effect on me actually being able to enjoy the music on a record when I put it on my turntable. I buy the music I like and I think everyone should be entitled to do the same.

    All Time Top 10?

There may be a thread similar to this out there, but I am kind of new 'round here. So, sorry if some of you have already gone through this. But, I am a music nerd, and one thing about music nerds is that they love to make lists. And seeing as how I am surrounded by music nerds on here, i figured a lot of you guys like to do the same. I suppose they don't have to be Ten Favorite Records on Vinyl, because I actually dont have a copy of my favorite record on Wax (speaking of, if you have it and want to park with it, i'd, i'd just love your forever). Full lengths and EPs included. So, anyways, all time top 10. 10. Latterman - ...We Are Still Alive! - I have probably listened to this record at least once a week since September 2006. The Fest V was the only time i got to see them, which is a bummer. 9. The Bronx - II - Rock n roll the way it is suppose to be these days. 8. Fake Problems - How Far Our Bodies Go - I know this is a new release, but I haven't been so floored about a record in a long, long time. 7. Against Me - Reinventing Axl Rose - This record totally changed the way that I thought about DIY music, and even changed some of my ideas on punk rock 6. Army of Ponch - ...Vs. the Curse - Only three songs, better than most full lengths out there. 5. Lawrence Arms - Present Day Memories - I love the Lawrence Arms, but they are kind of a mix-tape band for me. All their records are great, but their isnt a full length that i absolutely love from beginning to end. These were the LA songs that got me into the band; I dont think I've ever actually listened to the Chinkies songs on this. 4.Propagandhi - How To Clean Everything - These caused me to stop eating meat, however lame that sounds 3. Alkaline Trio - Goddamnit - when i was straight edge, i heard this record, and loved it. Loving a song called "My Little Needle" seems contradictory to the whole edge thing, so, i sort of stopped being so close-minded about my friends who drank and etc. I'm still sober, though. 2. Small Brown Bike - Dead Reckoning - This record, and more specifically the song "See You In Hell," is what got me into the whole Gainesville style of punk, and into the type of music I'm playing now, etc etc etc. 1. Blink-182 - Dude Ranch It's safe to say that if it wasnt for this record in the summer of 1997, i wouldn't be here right now, and my life would probably be vastly, vastly different. there's mine, now, everyone else, go!
