  1. This place is so funky, lol. When a random person comes in with a tradelist, people make sure to mention how flipping is bad, how we're a community that helps one another, how eBay prices are ridiculous, etc. etc... but then someone makes a thread like this and people are defending "getting the top dollar" on a sale. It's just interesting how that works sometimes here. Great list, is Brand New even worth $$$ in CD form? I have the Jesus CD and it's been sitting in my closet for years, other than the one time when I put it in my computer to digitalize the songs on the CD. I bought it on interpunk I think as a throw in with a couple shirts I was buying. Also, just think about it. Is it worth breaking up your Brand New collection that you possibly took quite some time to build, or letting go of some of those crazy rare records? If it isn't worth it to you, maybe you should create a set sale list of records that you'd be down to sell, or maybe you should choose one or two of those records you know people covet and let go of those as well. Just think about it. Selling records is awesome when you get a great return on them, when you end up with hundreds of dollars in your paypal account, but it also really does suck when you let go of records you love and then never get them back.

  2. VC: "If labels would just keep titles in print, we can avoid these issues!" "I can't believe that they are pressing this again and keeping it in stock!" Just can't win.

  5. There are so many factors that go into this, though. Seeing a VC-regular on the fence about selling a rare record that he cherishes - purchased 10 years ago - is a night & day difference from some new-jack joining and trying to sell Circa Survive represses that are still in stock. I've said it before, but if someone is looking for eBay prices, they should be offering ~10% less than premium eBay rates. That way, they get to pocket 100% of the payment (and avoid the ~10% fees) and save their buyer a bit of money. If they're not willing to do that, there's absolutely zero point in buying from them vs. eBay. From a buyer's standpoint, it's a total wash. Saving eBay asking prices for eBay listings also avoids wasting time; both your potential buyers' and your own. If I were in Ryan's shoes and wanted $300 for my sealed Deja - no more, and no less - I'd list it as a BIN on eBay, or sell it for ~$270 PPD here on the boards. I'd make that pretty clear upfront, as to avoid disappointment or confusion from people thinking they can cop it for $60. I don't view that as "flipping", even if it's a profitable course of action. To me, that's selling something that's become rare over time, that you've personally placed a high value on. Completely different from someone trying to unload Blink-182 splatter vinyl.

  8. Can we not turn this into another damning thread where everyone talks about how horrible everyone who doesn't buy records the exact same way they do is? These boards have been a bummer lately. Everyone's either pissed off or slamming threads with gifs.

  9. they definitely don't look so great next to expedits due to the (subtle but noticeable) size difference. in the process of redoing my record area and got two 2x4 kallax this week. i have to say, i kind of like the fact that they're a bit sleeker. especially for my nyc apartment. i also feel like the pieces went together a bit easier than the expedits.

  10. I just got my first tattoo! It's a note my mom wrote to my dad behind a picture she sent him. It basically says that she loves him a lot, and that she wants him to see how ugly she sleeps, but to not get scared. Cariño, Te Amo ¿Qué más puedo decir? 14. Digging the change of title post. Seriously, it will make this process so much less difficult for you if you just put together a list of what you're willing to let go of, and starting from there. I know my collection isn't as valuable as others, but I do this same thing--- I post my list on here, and then I cringe when the first message I get is for a Senses Fail record I really love, or some other record I spent entirely too much on that people will undoubtedly offer less than what I paid, or ask "what's the price on that record?" If you can't get what you're looking for on the items you decide you're down to sell, I'd recommend looking through the rest of the records you have, and maybe thinning out a couple variants or selling a high priced item to reach your goal, because it may be a record you love, but you'd be selling one record you love and achieving the price goal you want versus selling 10 records you own to reach the same price goal. It's just a lot to think about. Selling records, especially when you really don't want to sell them but kinda have to, is tough to do.

  15. some people on this site have a major problem with supply and demand with records. if you can get 300 on a record, you should be getting 300 for that record. that's the way the world works. the economy is too bad to not try to get what you can for something. which copy of explosions - earth is not a cold dead place do you have? gatefold or the normal sleeve version?

  17. For anyone interested, I have made an official statement regarding the matter. The band and I have worked everything out and chalked this whole situation up to a communication breakdown and misunderstanding. This will be the last time that this is addressed publicly & i hope that everyone who was against ETR can see how things unfolded in my experience. Thanks again to everyone who purchased the release and the on going support of the VC community. ETR has almost a dozen more great releases planned for later this year http://www.underthegunreview.net/2014/05/16/utg-exclusive-enjoy-the-ride-records-releases-statement-on-cartel-chroma-pressing/

  18. Just at first, but I wouldn't have noticed without your post. I run Denon TT, Marantz 2270 receiver, and replaced my old Cerwin Vegas with Polk 4 ways (no sub). I've been addicted to the loudness button since 1982, so popped it off and turned up the volume, left the bass EQ in the middle, and still sounded weak. I turned it up a couple notches and it was OK. Went back down on the volume and pushed the loudness button back in. Sounded fine the rest of the album. My daughter liked it (had not shared with her before), after that boom intro and the piano raindrops, she was fully engaged, gave it a 9/10 on the first pass. She wanted a little more keys but that is her instrument. Minimal to no grit on the Haze variant, easy clean, just slight surface noise on the first 10 to 15 seconds (I use a carbon fiber brush and blue anti-static gun as well after cleaning, since my wife keeps the humidity way down). Another cleaning and it should be perfect. Best Haze variant in a LONG time. #297 Clear Haze #344 Splatter must be legit props to Forbsie, Scott, Damascus and all involved in this superb production!

  29. Here is my incredibly modest setup. This is the best location for my turntable/speakers as I live in an incredibly tiny 3-room studio apartment. The speakers are up next to be upgraded. The turntable is a basic Orbit, and the amp is a Yamaha A-S300 just out of frame. The two main prints are copies of pieces by the fabulous Viviana Gonzalez (https://twitter.com/ArtViviana).

    Shit on bands here

I'd really put this more on Descendents than Ramones. I've always categorized Ramones with the Clash and other first-wave punk bands, as "classic punk." Descendents, while definitely second-wave (or even third depending on who you ask, some people are anal about it), are the progenitors of pop-punk in my opinion. Also, nothing against you personally, but it is Ramones, not the Ramones. Like Talking Heads. People get anal about that too.

And ZayZay went out, and departed from the thread. ----Williams 4:20 Our Lord and Savior does not fully leave, for he is only resting until the return when the band cometh back. The release shall be heard in the heavens and the kingdom saved from the boredom that is without ZayZay. For he is our eternal happiness. ----HotCash 15:30
