  9. One time my cousin Walter got this cat stuck up his ass. True story. He bought it at our local mall, so the whole fiasco wound up on the news. It was embarrasing for my relatives and all, but next week, he did it again. Different cat, same results, complete with another trip to the emergency room. So, I run into him a week later in the mall and he's buying another cat. And I says to him, "Jesus, Walt! What are you doing? You know you're just gonna get this cat stuck up your ass too. Why don't you knock it off?" And he said to me, "Brodie, how the hell else am I supposed to get the gerbil out?" My cousin was a weird guy.

  13. Limited to 1000 2LP white vinyl. Everything I Long For 20th Anniversary re-issue and tour February 16, 2016 Around this time 20 years ago, I released my first full length record, Everything I Long For. It was a collection of 16 songs, some 4-track recordings that had previously appeared on two versions of a cassette called "In September", and a few new ones I recorded with my friend Joao Carvalho. I've always had a bit of a complex relationship with this record, but with all of the personal baggage it comes with, I can't deny the impact it has had on my life and the meaning it had to a certain group of people in the mid 1990's. For that, I've made the decision to briefly go back in time and celebrate the first songs I ever wrote with the release of a limited edition, double vinyl copy of Everything I Long For on April 1. The anniversary release is remastered from the original recordings and includes 5 rare demos and out-takes. Pre-orders of the double-vinyl package, alongside other additional limited-edition merchandise recreated from the time, are now available through theHardwood Records online shop. There will be an Everything I Long For 20th Anniversary tour through Ontario starting on April 2, with performances of many EILF songs rarely, or never, played live before. Tickets for these shows are on sale this week with ticket details on the Tour page. Saturday, April 2 Wakefield, QC at The Black Sheep Sunday, April 3 Peterborough, ON at Gordon Best Theatre Monday, April 4 Kingston, ON at Grad Club Thursday, April 7 Hamilton, ON at Dundas Montessori Friday, April 8 Ridgeway, ON at The Sanctuary Saturday, April 9 London, ON at Aeolian Hall Monday, April 11 Waterloo, ON at Starlight Tuesday, April 12 Owen Sound, ON at Heartwood Concert Hall Wednesday, April 13 Creemore, ON at Avening Hall Friday, April 15 Toronto, ON at Trinity-St Paul's United Church

    Vinyl budget?

We've had a house for 10 years, but I get what you are both saying. I don't mean to imply that if I amass a large debt it wouldn't affect her. What I meant is that there was a time that she would get frustrated and stressed about my spending habits because they are different than hers, but we came to an agreement that as long as I am taking care of my shit, it is not her stress to worry about. Yes, my problem is that I have never been very good at saving, which is, again, why it works for us to have most of our money going into our joint account. She is then able to work her magic and put some into other accounts each month so that we do have some savings.

    Vinyl budget?

Just dug up this old thread as I'm looking at setting vinyl budget myself. Or, should I say as in the OP, my girlfriend/domestic-partner/might-as-well-be-wife is suggesting it. We've had "the vinyl talk" several times, especially when she went back to school last fall and is now looking for a job, but the budget word had not come up until yesterday. I had thought about it myself, as I just tend to spend whatever is available until I feel I'm overdoing it, but hadn't thought about a number to try to stick to. As we all know, you can never predict how many albums you'll want to buy in a month - new or old, or how much they'll cost and how many you'll be able to get for a certain monthly amount. But hey, that's the point of a budget, to make you think harder about purchases and control the habit. Anyhow, as we were talking she threw out the question "given 2 seconds to answer, what's your first guess as to a reasonable monthly budget?" to which I quickly replied $200! That was a lot. She suggested maybe $100, or 4 albums per month. Right away I thought about OOP purchases and shipping, which could easily turn that $100 into just 2 albums. But when thinking about 4 albums per month, it's really not that bad. One per week. Sounds reasonable. But what do I currently spend? I don't have an accurate number, but I'm sure it's upwards of 8 per month with varying cost. Likely $200-300. It needs to get under control, for sure. I'm just scared of putting a number on it. Also I'm tired of smuggling records into the house. I've had 3 sitting on my desk at work for a week and just put 3 more there. I'll be able to bring all 6 home tomorrow when she's out of town for a week.

  46. April Album of the Month Fugees - The Score (Deluxe 20th Anniversary) "The Score lives in that narrow archipelago between the end of the boom-bap Golden Age and the rise of the Jiggy Era. It’s both the last of the old tradition and the first of the next generation. It helped bring hip-hop to the mainstream without the crass commercialism that mars most attempts. No East Coast hip-hop album had previously combined dulcet melodies with such hard beats, crossing over with experimental pop that catered to the masses. It’s the most safe, seditious record ever made." -Jeff Weiss Exclusive VMP-edition features: Gatefold, 2LP split-color black & gold vinyl Bonus gold 7" with 3 tracks never before on vinyl 12" x 24" fold out poster 12” x 12” Original Art Print from Kenyatta A.C.
