  1. My devil's advocate take on this (and I say this as a spectator, never been involved in writing/recording/releasing music on a label): I guess I understand why Chad Gilbert is upset about small labels acquiring licenses to re-press his music on vinyl without him knowing, but my dude, the reason this is able to happen is because of the contracts you signed when recording and having these large labels release your music. Signing contracts like that can bite you in the ass if you make it big, but it could go the other way around if the band never took off. That's the premise of these types of contracts. The label gives a generous(ish) offer (I assume) but they take on a lot of the risks associated with putting out an album. You'd be able to legally stop it from happening/let your friends put the vinyl out if you hadn't sold your rights to make those kinds of decisions, rather than just banking on "my blessing." Idk, am I off-base with this one?

  2. I mean if they pressed 2k because that's all that Universal allowed them to press then I'm not sure why it's TTTH's fault. 2k would have sold out in seconds no matter which label it was released through. Why isn't Chad calling up Universal and saying "our last three vinyl drops sold out in seconds, lets press more, or do you guys not like making money?" Fat Wreck Chords has like 5 employees and they are dropping cool represses at low prices with plenty of stock all year every year, most of which are in hand when the orders go live. Strung Out's Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues had over 3k pressed at $20 and they aren't nearly the size of NFG.

  3. Heads up for those PJH fans here, saw this on Steve Hoffman forum and is to be announced this week

  4. I just want a normal single LP release, or a double LP with some bonus tracks or something. It's insane that Dischord can do their box set for under $70 shipped, have an actual reason to make it multiple discs AND throw in a bonus 7" and they're charing $110+shipping for a single album.

  5. Small label with rinky dink website was not prepared for the flood of fans, and now despite being on that shit right at 11, I get fucked. This got me to come out of post retirement.

  6. It grew on a lot of people. For me and everyone I know personally who likes NFG, this record was initially hated and then loved when revisited a few years later. I think it was a sound within pop punk that no one was ready for at the time, but as the genre changed and more bands made this transition, you eventually go back to this record and really appreciate how good it was. This was my least favorite NFG record when it came out, and now it's probably my second or third favorite.

  7. I’m not an NFG fan but I absolutely love this record. It is miles above anything else they’ve done. This has been at the top of my most wanted pressings since I started collecting in 2008. So I’m happy I was able to snag a copy. However I find it odd that the site crashed and people are freaking out about a record I’ve never really heard anyone praise. I know a lot of people who love NFG and they they all say this record isn’t very good.

  8. actual photos from the label just in case if you are looking for a nice splatter (I mean these 2 words don't come together often) expect this. Easy green, At the time their single LP's were 20, now they are 25, so it will be at least 40.

  9. Looks like the Cargo In The Blood art book is available again. Still pricey as hell but people who have it say it’s worth it. https://store.nin.com/products/cargo-in-the-blood?_pos=1&_sid=f2ca0dca5&_ss=r

  10. Drastic Plastic is giving us a reissue. /500 Swamp Green vinyl. Still just a single LP though unfortunately. BUT it’s not Plain Records, so that’s something positive.

  12. It looks like Parting Gift Records will be pressing New Found Glory's "Coming Home" album. The second video of their story shows a record playing "Hold My Hand" with a 2 days countdown with a 'PGR015' https://www.instagram.com/partinggiftrecords/

  13. That is the same one that has been up for months, just don't want anyone who preordered it back in May thinking it is a new one

  14. That's what mine did as well. I ordered the first day it went up. Had a date, then unknown, then received, and now shipped! Good luck.

  15. Not off-base at all. It’s called selling out, and this situation is part of the cost of doing so. Chad should stop being a whiny bitch and let Catalyst get pressed, for fuck sakes.

  17. "OUR LAST THREE VINYL DROPS SOLD OUT IN SECONDS, LETS PRESS MORE, OR DO YOU GUYS NOT LIKE MAKING MONEY?" But seriously, I see certain albums from much smaller bands get repressed constantly and I assume they sell through the inventory so I always wonder why certain albums don't get repressed as often. I think The Get Up Kids' entire catalog got repressed over the past 18 months but I don't think one Saves The Day album did. Same label and everything. I don't understand it at all.

  18. Kinda’ same here. I really thought Trent was specifically waiting to reissue it in 2022 for obvious reasons. But we’re in September…? Someone needs to let him know that if he wants this definitive edition to wrap up neatly with the concept of the album, his time is [tick, tick] ticking away.

  19. This is going to be almost as painful to listen to as the United Nations box set. At least that wasn’t over a hundred dollars for a handful of songs. I feel like this will sit for awhile.

  20. Chad seems to really get his panties in a bunch about vinyl, doesn't he?

  21. they said 5000 people trying, not 5k orders.
    1 point
  22. Yeah, they're gone. The label said on Instagram that nearly 5,000 orders went through for only 2,000 records. Assuming that's why they shut their site down. Expect about 3,000 refunds.

  23. Yeah I want it because it's one of my favorites as well, plus I have a thing for box sets. But 3x10" is just stupid - so is that price point. Ugh. Surely this will be available for a little bit.

  24. I want it, it’s one of my favorite albums, but $110 is nuts. Maybe I’d pay that premium if it was remastered / from the master tapes / the best sounding version, etc., but doesn’t say anything commenting on the source.

  25. they got denied the rights to repress.

  26. I got a toot toot for not going when the light turned green due to refreshing. I was worried this would be like a PN drop and go live like 20 min early.

  27. Of late - this album has become a big fan favorite. When it came out, folks didn't love it, but now it's up there with all the rest!

  34. Idk, my take on that kind of thing has always been that if a band wanted end to end control over how their music is distributed they shouldn't have signed to a label. The fact, for better or worse, is that NFG does not own the rights to those albums and have no say over if, when, and how it's licensed out. Frankly I'm not sure what value the band's involvement brings.

  38. Same. Had my ShopPay updated last night. Turns out Limited Run is like, the only site that doesn't use ShopPay yet. Regardless, had all my info in and stared at a swirling circle for all of 14 minutes in 3 tabs before the site crashed.

  39. Yeah I was on the site at 11 sharp and didn't get one either. They honestly could have tripled the pressing for this and it still would have sold out.
