  2. I have a job interview for a studio coordinator position at School of Rock next week. I'm pretty fucking stoked on it. Between the insanely nerdy email I sent the manager/owner, my obsession for music, my work experience, my years of touring, and the fact that a family friend (who works in radio) knows the owner, referred me, and talked me up, my chances are pretty damn good. The gig is my kind of hours, only 25 minutes away, and most importantly revolves around music. For anyone who isn't familiar with School of Rock, it's a music school just like how they do at the end of the movie, but bigger - so it's a music school. Fingers crossed for this, cause it's a job I can do well, somewhere I'd actually want to work, there's room for growth, and most importantly I can talk about music all day long! This can be my life now:

  3. Credit to jonrawks, who posted this on the cassette forum. Fans of post-BM style music (DFHVN, Alcest, WITTR, etc.) but are put off by the screeching demonic vocals, AND....has quite a bit of quiet piano interludes between the blast beats, should find this instrumental solo project from Azerbaijan worth a shot Violet Cold - Magic Night I picked up a tape - along with a D&D from the Sheath on Thursday, as a true Caspian and Sheath fan

  9. So for the last 2 hours my girlfriend and I have been in the living room periodically complaining about our shitty neighbors listening to music way too loud. At a few points we were like "Are they in the fucking hallway right now?" I went into the bedroom to grab something just now...the music was coming out off our echo dot. We checked the cloud for the audio command that started it. The text was "Echo...play" but the audio was...one of the cats meowing repeatedly for about 5 seconds. The fucking cat meowed in such a way that the echo activated....and heard "play"

  14. Did someone use the word elitist? My ears were ringing. Frutiger75 is surprised people buy records from a variety of artists instead of just 2-3. Frutiger75 rationalizes people do this because they can't budget their vinyl funds. Frutiger75 is very fond of Thesaurus.com and uses it to try hard. Don't be a Frutiger75.

Description: Maryland/Pennsylvania experimental death-noise band FULL OF HELL have embarked on quite the journey leading up to the impending release of their latest full-length album “Trumpeting Ecstasy”, an album which will see the band deliver their most punishing, virulent, and dynamic album to date. The embryonic beginnings of Full of Hell displayed their palette at it’s most primitive, d-beat and blast ridden hardcore punk with spats of noise and caustic rhythm, and within a few short years, they have bloomed into a true force to be reckoned with within the punk and metal communities. Since the release of their Profound Lore Records debut album “Full Of Hell & Merzbow” late 2014, their third full-length album, the band began to truly come into their own, combining elements of grindcore, death/black metal, punk and hardcore with a smattering of sonically laden power electronics and industrial pounding. It would also signal the band being at their most active and prolific ever since their inception in 2009. The band would tour endlessly non-stop in different parts of the world in places as far off as Japan, Australia (twice), Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Philippines, South Korea etc.), along with several tour runs in Europe and many tour jaunts within the US, along with playing countless festivals and exclusive shows. The band would also add to their repertoire and discography as well during said timeframe releasing a direct collaboration album with The Body and several EPs, one of them being their most-recent split 7”EP with Nails (which debuts #2 on the Billboard Top 100 Singles Chart). With “Trumpeting Ecstasy”, FULL OF HELL build upon their progression since the Merzbow collaboration and the releases succeeding it. This time the band decided to go into God City Studios with Kurt Ballou at the production helm to help achieve the intended vision of “Trumpeting Ecstasy”. The result being the best and strongest sounding FULL OF HELL album along with it being their most towering release to date. Sky tearing and sonically cataclysmic, the aural deluge that is “Trumpeting Ecstasy” also features guest appearances by Aaron Turner (Sumac/Old Man Gloom/Mamiffer/Isis), Nate Newton (Converge/Old Man Gloom), Andrew Nolan (Column Of Heaven/The Endless Blockade), and Canadian singer/songwriter Nicole Dollanganger. Expect FULL OF HELL to tour relentlessly in support of “Trumpeting Ecstasy” as well.

I'll remind you closer to the date! They do sell out sometimes, so keep that in mind I'm planning to order my ticket sometime this week. https://www.strangertickets.com/events/40985448/2017-washington-cask-beer-festival

  26. Cortana team seems fun. Iteresting work at least. We went to the zoo and the children's museum. I'm not sure what is super touristy here outside the space needle or market. Haven't done the needle. Im looking forward to going to Safeco for a Mariners game. My office is in Pioneer Square, the deck on the roof looks at the Ferris Wheel pretty much. Maybe a block or two south of that. Public transportation is easy for me since I'm coming from West Seattle. Any WS bus works coming home and any Downtown bus works going in. Takes about 20-30 minutes it seems. I'm into the move so far. Not totally in the house yet though. No coffee table, real short on kitchen stuff and missing bedroom furniture. It's coming though.

  28. Bump Hey guys. Found this tune a while back. Benny Spellman, who is originally from Florida, recorded a ton of singles and lived in New Orleans. Toussaint wrote and produced this track. Benny Spellman found success with other Toussaint songs "Lipstick Traces" and "Fortune Teller" but this has an entirely different sound. Nice dance tune.

  31. luckily they hired 30 of us so I'm in a pack of being the new person. we are doing classroom training for about 4 weeks and then we split into our teams we got placed on. I don't think i'm allowed to go into detail but me and two others got placed on the Cortana team and that section seems freakin awesome! I'm glad to hear you had a good first week! Have you done any tourist stuff? I went to the pike place area and had really good homemade apple cider but I'm sure there is a lot more to be seen. It sounds like you got a great view from your office! Are you working in Seattle or outside of it? My team is in Bellevue so I'll be working from there soon instead of Redmond. we don't get free food but drinks are free. Been drinking lots of weird stuff like coconut water and orange juice in a tiny can and these weird flavored waters. Have you been using public transport? I kept getting lost on it. sounds like we both are really diggin this move!

  34. I don't know how this guy has flown under my radar, but knew he had to be out there somewhere. What a great release if you like the quiet piano interludes in between the instrumental postBM style - I think the postrockers who bristle at the screeching vocals of DFHVN, Alcest (occasional) or the uberclean vocals of Astronoid might really get into this. Thanks Jonathan! (you should post on the PostRock EEM megathread). Going to link up for my oldest son and daughter, who plays piano and does covers of everything, even WITTR.

  35. Just ordered the 3 Full of Hell 12"s available from A389 yesterday. Pretty stoked for this. Not sure how many pressings and variants of the Merzbow split there are, but they've still got a bunch of variants in stock. Need to track down Sister Fawn though.

  40. I think you're getting people wrong in this thread. I don't see anyone in this thread even hinting they want a new HT/Meteora record, or that Nu-metal sound. Well, I certainly don't. That music is in the past for me and doesn't really resonate with me anymore. But Linkin Park has always managed to make some decent pop-rock songs that I enjoyed to sing along to. Songs like Shadow of the Day, Waiting for the End, Powerless, Final Masquerade etc...I think they're good at making these pop-rock songs, where you can still hear it's Linkin Park. I agree on there is a ton of music out there which is far better, no doubt about it, but stuff like Converge or Deafheaven ain't exactly the music you can walk around and sing along to in your apartment, or well, I can't Anyways, what is disappointing with this song, in particular, is that you can't really hear it's Linkin Park anymore. I know they can do better than this at least, it seems like not much effort went into it.
    1 point
  41. Definitely. There are a few people in this thread that aren't necessarily hyped, but are still optimistic that Linkin Park will be worth checking out 12+ years after they had their moment in the spotlight. That's fine. The part I'm curious about - without trying to sound too condescending here - is... why? Hybrid Theory was basically the coolest new thing in junior high, for me. Of course. And I spent a good bit of time with Meteora when it was released, I'll admit it. But that shit is behind me, personally, and to me it feels like good riddance. I've also never worn denim shorts or collected Magic: The Gathering cards since then. There's just so much good music out there that I don't see why you'd hope a band will rehash their glory days for your nostalgia when they're clearly more interested in writing radio butt-rock for Transformer soundtracks. I'm not preaching what anyone should or shouldn't listen to, but I am saying that some things are definitely better left in the past.
