  4. There were a lot around 100g in the 70s when millions were pressed. 150 gram is / was the "audiophile" heavy weight before they decided 180g was the new sell bait in like 2008. Doesn't affect sound at all just harder to warp (and also unwarp which is annoying as fuck as posted above)

  6. VINYL ME URBAN OUTFITTERS oh man I’m in stitches / have a boner. Arctic Monkeys are the indie rock equivalent of something awful from pop. Untalented musicianship, childish lyrics, and didn’t they come from a talent show? BRITAIN’S GOT ACCENTS Give me a Kevin Morby AOTM or give me death.

Honestly part of this is from the vinyl “bubble” but also monetized YouTube and the whole subculture associated with selling your soul to shill products to your followers. Bring back YouTube before ads , now get off my lawn

  15. I actually grabbed one of the repressed copies that day with the email. I just happened to check my email that morning and seen they were releasing some at like 3pm. Logged in and luckily had my PayPal already set to go. Had my receipt at like 301. Went back to pick one up for a friend who went to the rebirth tour with me and sold out out by 302. Was shocked when my copy actually arrived.

  18. Second album from UK Electro/Multi-Instrumentalists Let's Eat Grandma, due for release on 29 June. Limited yellow 2 LP signed https://shop.letseatgrandma.co.uk/products/im-all-ears-limited-yellow-2lp-signed-2 Rough Trade Exclusive -500 Copies Only on Double Blue and Purple Marbled Vinyl https://www.roughtrade.com/gb/music/let-s-eat-grandma-i-m-all-ears Bundles including Signed Test Press https://shop.letseatgrandma.co.uk/ Not sure how familiar this band may be to many on here, but Falling Into Me and their latest single Hot Pink (not released on vinyl so far) sound like a tremendous advance on their first album I Gemini, which was released in 2016 when they were just 16 and 17.

  19. I'll probably watch it this weekend and report back. I'm on call until Monday, which usually means I spent the bulk of my time watching movies at home, haha. I finished Butcher's Block last night and mostly liked it. I still think the first season is my favorite, but Block was much better than season two.

  20. This is fascinating to me because while I’ve never passionately explored every nook and cranny of it, “indie” and its many variations have never been a stranger to my music library, and I still hadn’t heard a single song off AM’s debut until about a month ago. Brianstorm was the only song of theirs I had heard from one of the Guitar Hero titles back in the day, but that’s about the extent of my AM exposure. I guess I’d have a different stance if that record’s songs were shoved down my throat for the last decade. Kings of Leon and Oasis are basically the indie variations of butt-rock, to me, so if AM fits into that category, I can see where the distaste comes from.

  21. I don't know anything about that but as an Englishman the idea that a band would infiltrate our borders to sell themselves as homegrown talent from Sheffield greatly amuses me. Sheffield of all the exotic locations in the world.

  22. Nah from what I can tell they're just pretty self assured asshats who produce subpar music that is massively overrated. Oasis have all the drama between the bros n from the video posted above its actually pretty hard to work out if they're trying to be taken seriously or just playing bizarre charicatures. Either way for a video of just over two minutes its a hard cringe.

  27. You mean Hopeless. But yeah, why would they give it to RSD? Pretty much limited to one or two variants, the label basically gets zero direct sales out of it, and 90% of them will go on eBay within 24 hours. Circa usually has a RSD release but it’s always a split 7” that isn’t even close to required listening.

  35. Just a head up, Dillo, that it wasn't me who peed in your Wheaties this morning. I'm not making any excuses for OESB. The first and last sentences of my post make it both pretty clear how I think OESB has handled this and that my friend's Paypal experience was not necessarily reflective of OESB's. The only thing I took any umbrage with was a post, that in fairness I neglected to quote, that indicated the release was not legitimate. That's all. The Paragraph about the PayPal freeze thing is just an anecdote that came into my purview after OESB used it as one of their excuses so I thought it was an interesting one to pass along. I'd never heard of it before. Just engaging in discourse; not litigating a vaportrial. Again, I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT OESB, but, in my friend's instance, his label's PayPal account was frozen during the first few hours of the album dropping. That in essence froze the incoming cash of those who'd already purchased and kept would-be purchasers from being able to complete any transactions. In this case, there was never any meaningful opportunity to access those funds for a transfer. That said, they had it cleared up in about a week though it was quite a cluster. If it'll make you feel better, I'll curse and slander a bit more in my subsequent posts so as to remove any ambiguity.

  36. Why is it that both you, your friend and Todd have never heard of transferring PayPal funds to expense accounts/keeping cashflow/liquidity for shipment? No matter what you say, he was ill-prepared since Dragon Soul. Maybe he thought since OESB had slowed to a trickle in terms of release schedule that he would expect slow and steady sales or something? That's the most benefit of the doubt I can give the guy. Again, for the record, I first paid him on January 28th, 2017. Check that with the two replies above me and tell me again about how horrible PayPal is when Todd had just about 15 months to transfer that money to a safe and secure bank account. Dying to see what other excuse you got for the guy.
