  1. Please get your facts straight, only 3% of the releases in this series will be abortions; the remaining 97% percent will be comprised of free screenings, regular check-ups, community health initiatives, and other essential services.

  3. Not to take a jab at everyone hyped on this release, but when I think of the poster child for a Gorillaz fan, Halo 2 is exactly who I picture. It's kind of perfect.

  5. Post-Post-VC isn't meant to be a replacement to VC as a whole, but it'll give this thread an expanded platform to really bloom and do its own thing, I think. I'd probably consider it supplemental – you'll definitely be able to follow appropriate post-genre / electronic / ambient / shoegaze / drone releases, there, but also check out VC for the latest Vinyl Me Please record, shipping woes, and threads for Youtube channels, study surveys, etc.

  13. Anyone who wants an invite to the new *Record Forum PM me with your email address. Just a heads up: it's only going to be a small handful of people for a bit until we get it all set up. We want it up and running before unveil it to all of you. We want it fully functioning so you can log in and go, instead of there really not being much to look at. I will keep log of all the invites. Thanks. * - It won't be just post rock stuff. We're thinking of making it a total VC replacement / alternative in time.

  17. This is why I don't find it all that funny. Nearly every one of these I've watched has been an abortion. How do you tell satire from actual shit if there's no difference?

  19. Why do you think Gorillaz fans are more likely to use Discogs? I dont think it's unreasonable to think only 5-10% of vinyl buyers track their collections using discogs. 24,000 people not using discogs to track their collections is a pretty reasonable estimate.

  22. So abattoir was dreadful. Had an original premise but the writing sucked. Also the acting sucked too, I cannot take Joe Anderson serious. The last 30 mins almost makes up for the rest of the movie but nope.

    Pre-Amp ?

I agree with the above poster. Give yourself some time with the new deck and get a feel for the sound. It is my opinion, though, that you won’t get much out of a better pre-amp right away. Everyone has their own opinions, but I think the cartridge is one of the most important links in the chain. Your new one will most certainly be a huge upgrade from whatever was on your old TT, but it’s still no gem, and certainly not even close to being on par with your speakers. It'll sound slightly different, maybe, but it won’t allow you to hear detail that your stylus is not picking up, if that makes sense. By all means get one because it will be useful to have in the future as you upgrade your cart, but probably isn’t necessary right away.

  26. I recently started the tv show Jordskott. Anybody seen it? I'm only an episode and a half in, but it's decent so far. It reminds me quite a bit of Channel Zero.

  27. Seems it's all shit unless something leaps out and shows you otherwise. Satire is so rarely funny, which is a tragedy. Too many people with big mouths and small talent - all given a platform.

  29. Makes sense. It was suspect (particularly the replacement music, the sign running out of post-it notes and the general awkwardness). As with all things on the internet and the current generation, you can never tell for sure.

    Ghost in the Shell

Went to see the new one yesterday. After having watched the original anime earlier last week. The new one felt almost a mirror of the original esp. in some of they key shots and scenes. I enjoyed that faithfulness to the source material. Where it derailed for me was the change in the story and how it comes across as a forced justification on the whitewashing of the whole thing. Esp. pushing on you the whole "Here's why ScarJo was cast instead of an Asian actor" agenda and how it all fits in the plot and storyline. I didn't completely hate it...it was enjoyable but you couldn't help but notice how the story unraveled and lets you down by becoming a cliché in the latter half of the movie. The soundtrack by Clint Mansell was great though.
