  22. Saw them in DC the other night. They still have the splatter but had sold out of the tri-color. Also wanted to add that the show was amazing and Derek is one of the coolest dudes I've ever met. After the show he talked to me and my fiance for a half hour. Just shooting the shit talking to my girlfriend about her film major and English literature. Talked to me about writing styles. I'm writing a screenplay and found we had a lot in common (the use of story arcs while jumping around chronologically). It was profound to just spend some time and talk to someone I respect that much. It meant the world to me to meet one of my favorite artists and not feel like an asshole because of his courtesy and ease. He shared some things about the over-arching story of the albums that have completely changed the way I look at them. Listening to them now and it's like hearing them for the first time again. Which is amazing. My fiance is laying the groundwork to do a thesis paper on them now. Hopefully her paper gets chosen and I get to go see her speak at a conference and do a presentation..... about Defeater.

  23. Check out old straight edge dudes from Boston rocking out. They just released a 7" on B9. Chris Wrenn actually signed them and not the 20 year old hipsters running the label now. Budget System

Yeah you're right, I was reading something about Nad amps while posting and the lack of the phono stage was stuck in my head for some reason... Buying used can be a risk for sure, though you can minimize that risk by doing some research and buy from a reputable seller or a hifi store. The pioneer and denon entry level integrateds aren't really worth considering in my opinion, they perform well under what you can get for the price. The onkyo 9050 would be a worthwhile contender though. But it's really impossible to talk about "sound signature" here, every component has it's specific strengths and drawbacks and the only way to get an idea of how a particular combination might perform at your place is to go and listen to as much as you can in a specialised store. The experience will be extremely valuable as you'll get to connect your own perception to the sound described in magazines and online. So not only will you actually hear for yourself what you like best, it'll also be easier for you to know what to expect from particular equipment in the future.

  31. As a person who's had to talk down a friend from basically shooting himself (as his brother did years before) i hear where you are coming from, but you shouldn't be sad about it. it's surprising that his attempted suicide had come that far, but it's far better knowing that he's being committed and getting the help he needs than just hanging up and then hearing later that he went through it or worse doing so while you were on the phone with him. you did the right thing and the best conclusion came from it. hope this helps.

  32. Same here. However, if it was a real high end box set like drds89 mentioned in the previous post, I would send them a small bucket of money for it.

  39. I don't know if it's ballsy so much as it's a waste of his time. I can't imagine he's going to generate enough sales to validate looking all that up and listing it. He's not just a d-bag...He's a stupid d-bag

  41. Hah. Yeah, it does sound like feedbands doing this, eh? Maybe if I don't actually use decent punctuation and grammar my point will come across. Imma real bro. facebook.com/codywfleetwood. I live in Austin, Tx. I fucking love vinyl. I'm also ok with feedbands as a company. Oh well though. It's alright not to trust something like feedbands. I didn't at first. What you need? A kiss to make this seem real? I'm going to smoke now.

  42. In response to this note, the artwork for the new cover was created and requested by the band. We didn't create it. But I agree it's quite different, though they have done 3 different versions of this album thus far and all three have had different covers. So I think that's just how they roll.

  45. personally, if a bunch of morons wanna sit around and get me to scribble my name on something, and they will gladly fork over 10 or 15 bucks for it, id totally do it to. believe me, i hate rock star bullshit more than most people, and love calling out people and bands for retarded shit. but on the other hand, once your band gets big enough, you cant please everyone. I personally watched Pearl Jam spend about 2 hours of time shaking hands, autographing stuff, anddoing general meet and greet type stuff, and got through hundreds and hundreds of fans, but ended up leaving to get ready for the show after a couple hours and still got boos and people pissed off bitching about how big of jerks they were, and how they didnt even take the time to meet everyone, etc. There were at least 2 or 3 thousand fans out there waiting, and it would have taken all day to get through them all, and im sure it was the same at every show in every town every day. lets not get on our high horses and pretend that if we were in a big successful band we would dedicate our entire days to going online and chatting up kids, and giving out free handjobs to our fans and pandering to their every whim about what color the vinyl should be and what price it should be set at, etc.
