  1. Really bummed out for Sean on this, after like 2 years of planning and him working toward putting out something so awesome as a one man show and the plant has to pull this on him, it's truly a travesty, like Kess said the dude's been nothing but awesome and always came through, shame on that fuckin plant!

  4. Maybe i'm too old, df seems to be for a different (younger) generation. It doesn't take long to come across an album i have that is not listed.

  6. I only use Discogs. The accuracy and completeness of the information far outweighs a slick looking list. Function over form any day. Dead Format always seemed like a waste of time to me. Discogs has been making small improvements in the last year or so, and it works a little better on mobile now.

  12. I can't stop laughing at this thread. OP posts cringey ed_norton_moron.gif. Calls someone a "wonderful moron". Complains about being called a moron. I don't know what his fascination with that word is, but I love it.

  13. Discogs ftw. I can't believe all the collectors who aren't interested in the actual info of their collection. DF doesn't tell you squat. All just because you like the way it looks? Someone said earlier they think it depends on size of your collection whether or not they use Discogs/DF. I'd be more inclined to say that it's more the younger people who use DF, and the elders use Discogs. Nothing wrong with it, just seems that way.

  15. I've heard rumblings of new Appleseed Cast next year. The title of the album should be "All Proceeds Will Go to Reimburse Old Canes Kickstarter Supporters". I'm still rooting for you guys.

  16. We had 7 posts in a row that were on topic - or at the very least, non-destructive to the thread - over the course of exactly three hours. What the actual fuck compels you to throw rocks at the hornet's nest? Your last sentence was the only part of your post that was on point. Please just stop. Not just in this thread, but also any other time you may find a dead horse that's finally being left to rot in peace. Let's try to steer the discussion onto the music. Or the vinyl release. Or something remotely relevant to the band. I don't know. I'm hoping the new record has a similar runtime and flow to GOE. As greedy as it'd be to hope for a double LP worth of "nü-gaze" [or whatever the kids are calling it], I feel like GOE's length and pacing made it super easy to revisit and grow accustom to. Not too blistering and short-lived, and not overly drawn out and dreamy. I can't think of too many recent albums that've maintained that balance so well.

  17. That in general people like really shitty things. Creed and Nickleback are platinum selling bands who play stadiums. Jeff Dunham is a really popular comedian.

  19. ..... GUYS.... maybe it's the whiskey talking, but this is fucking brilliant. Everyone makes a list (it'd have to be long, like 20-30 or more for this to really work), you pick: Artist Album Label (or at least, on original or new label) Month/Event (eg. RSD) Initial Pre-order length in months (0 if you predict instantly available) Mock-up matches reality or not (decided by consensus) Pressing fuckup or not (eg. wrong discs, missing items, etc.) (bonus point for getting WHAT was fucked up right) Etc Whoever has the most points at the end of the year is the VC Sage.

  21. Respect The Classics who release hip hop vinyl reissues just announced a Yeezus cassette! http://www.respecttheclassics.com/collections/all-products/products/yeezus-limited-edition-cassette Yeezus is the sixth studio album from Kanye West. It was released on June 18, 2013, by Def Jam Recordings. Yeezus has been characterized as West's most abrasive and sonically experimental album, incorporating elements of industrial, acid house, dancehall, electro, and Chicago drill. During the production of the album, West was influenced by minimalist design and architecture, in particular the works of Le Corbusier, and visited the Louvre several times for inspiration. Yeezus has no album artwork, and the physical CD edition of the album was released in a clear jewel box with only a strip of red tape and sample credits. The album continues West's use of unconventional samples, including (and most notably) the vocal refrain from Nina Simone's cover of "Strange Fruit." Get this groundbreaking album on a limited edition cassette for the first time ever!

  22. Love this band/album. My label Near Mint is releasing the singer's (Anthony Jay Sanders) solo album early next year and it is also amazing.

  23. How about a better question. Where the fuck are the ETID represses. If ETID and blink 182, panic at the disco, etc (you know, shit bands) vinyl could take human form, the etid vinyl would choke the shit outta the others...let make it happen

    Is dead format.........dead?

Not really, I regularly contribute to Discogs and it is a favorite site of mine but I prefer the 1 page of a DF tradelist. I can go to DF and quickly check my list. The collection function on Discogs I barely use, even though I am on that site all the time.
