VC Clear Crew representing. There are a few of us. After seeing the unimaginative variants for New Bermuda, I wasn’t holding my breath for anything crazy, anyway. I’m not a huge fan of the cover art and don’t really care all that much about insane color combinations for the vinyl itself; if it matches and has a cohesive aesthetic, I’m game. And fortunately clear wax looks great with almost every black-and-white jacket I’ve ever seen. Anyone read the writeup on the product page? Interesting that Chelsea Wolfe makes an appearance on the album.

Grabbed the clear from Deathwish. There is a very small amount of bands who will always warrant a blind pre-order for me, even when it costs $54 shipped...but holy shit that stings.

Yup, it’s clear green and not opaque like the red and pink. I went for the DW clear myself.

Of course I got the clear from DW. The big dilemma is deciding if I need any other color. Edit: Whoops, just bought a pink copy, too. Damn it. Stop.

I actually really enjoyed this album. As someone who kind of fell off of them after “Define The Great Line,” this seems like a pretty good transition from that. I can totally see why you wouldn’t like this though if your were use to them being “heavier.”

I think "Half Light" is excellent. I just prefer "Mother And Child Divided" between the two and think it flows better with "So Called Friend" which would be the preceding track. I tell you what, that's not a terrible idea in of itself. But what kills this particular song for me is the tempo. PT sounds awkward and feels uncomfortable at this type of fast tempo. I personally think the fastest they should go is something like "Arriving Somewhere..." or the title tracks to either Deadwing or Fear Of A Blank Planet-all three are relatively fast, but a bit slower than "...Master Tape". It just feels weird when they tried to play fast tempo material, at least to my ears, and "...Master Tape" might work a lot better 10-15 BPMs slower. Of course, I am talking of the "band" albums, as there is faster tempo stuff on the early "solo" albums (think "Linton Samuel Dawson") that works because it fits with the psych/krautrock pastiche vibe of those records.

The album releases July 13th but I’m making fun of the new Bermuda vinyl delay which was like 4-6 months

They charged me nearly $40 for shipping and then mailed my package media mail which cost under $10. They publicly posted they would refund shipping differences then went on to not actual do those refunds or reply to emails for coming up on 6 months. How exactly would you recommend us getting our money back other than by filing a PayPal claim? Also yes I am not sure why “entitled” is being thrown as an insult as we are very much entitled to get our money back that even they admitted was overcharged and they said we would get back...

Unsurprisingly Truth or Dare was shit. Could have been fun, but they reaaalllly aimed it for the PG13 crowd. Not just in the PG13 friendly gore, the whole thing is like a teen soap opera. I don't know a current one to reference. Dawson's Creek?

They were all long sold out by the time I remembered to check the site, but honestly I am not that impressed with this first round of color variants. I'm totally content with getting the black 1/500 180 gram (which all limited variants should be anyway, imo) and holding out for a future repress if it catches my eye. But seriously, how is the "deluxe" not 180 gram? $70 for a box and flag is crazy, even for relapse. I know it's a big deal for a band to be on their roster, and Yob is possibly my favorite band ever, but I wish they weren't on relapse. They cut corners on vinyl releases and only seem to care about whatever flavor of the week color variant they can apply to a pre order. I'd much rather Yob still be on metal blade or 20 buck spin or join southern lord. Give me heavy weight vinyl with actual thick gatefold covers or printed sleeves. Oh well. Psyched for new Yob!
