    Waxwork Records Thread

So if Circa Survive takes 6 months to fulfil a pre-order it's just playing the game, but when waxwork takes 3 it's a mutiny? I'll never understand this board.

    Kendrick Lamar - untitled unmastered.

    they gonna be alright

Didn't see this covered on here yet; this album has gotten to pretty ridiculous prices lately but there is now a repress of the DMM from One Little Indian. Cost in the US is much more reasonable from Amazon 3rd party retailers here.

    Kendrick Lamar - untitled unmastered.

I usually get something for the kids. Used to have poppers available, but stuff like this will fill your cart: http://www.bullmoose.com/p/1561080/toy-finger-puppet-glow-zombie-randomly-picked

I'm going on a road trip

New Orleans is great. I recommend going to Frenchman street. Pretty much every venue on that street has amazing live music.

You cannot get to this from the main page. If the only way to access this page is to make an account, you're not going to have a lot of people using the site. The good thing about Discogs is you can browse without any kind of commitment. And I still don't see an uploader for uploading images. If you have to edit HTML to upload pics, no one will upload anything. You need to make this EASY for people, especially when trying to go up against a behemoth like Discogs. Also, on that Pentimento page you linked, it's so lacking of information it's crazy. You have the band > album > album info > pressing info > variant color, but that's it. There's an unnamed column that says "German Press" in a couple of spots. Is that for the label it was released on? I actually dig the column format as it makes it easy to find the information quickly, but not if I don't know what information I'm looking at.

Doesn't like the way discogs displays pressing info (what's wrong with it, btw?)... so comes up with an insanely labor intensive 'solution requiring a lifetime and a small army. Positivity is a good thing, but so is reality. Friends like these are the type that let their friends go onto, for example, American Idol when the person is actually tone deaf. When they get there they're caught off guard and totally dumbfounded by the judges responses... "But my friends said I could sing!"

Hey, I've seen dumber collectibles. If that's what people are paying I say go for it. If I could pay for a big chunk of a trip to the other side of the world with one song I would be all over it

Bumping because I just now noticed this from the label in charge of the reissue: I'm somewhat curious to hear what a Jack Shirley remaster of this album would sound like. Still not giving up my original pressing though.

    Introduce Yourself!

Real Name: I'm shy. Favorite Artists: Queens of the Stone Age, Japandroids, A Tribe Called Quest, Thelonious Monk, Wu-Tang Clan, MF Doom, Cream, Radiohead, Spoon, Kendrick Lamar, and others What's your facebook/twitter/tumblr/etc? Twitter: @SandwichRecords Play in a band? Run a record label? Link us! I played in a band in high school that had many names, the highlight of which was probably Bald Sasquatch. Since then, nothing. Maybe I'll get back to it. Hobbies (outside of record collecting) I brew beer. I like the experimentation involved with making your own. I'm a father, and brewing is the perfect hobby for a parent. It takes a couple hours, then you wait. Couple hours, then wait another couple weeks. And then you end up with beer. Random Things You Want Us to Know Concerning records, I'm a slightly more knowledgable person than your average kid who just bought his first Crosley. So I'm mainly looking to learn more about records on here. I've run into some pretty vicious and snarky folks so far that have pounced on some posters - a bad first impression. But I've also really learned a ton from some posts and enjoyed getting the jump on deals and new releases.

I was listening to some field recordings of Tibetan monks chanting backwards, and thought to myself "yeah, this is alright, if you like blatant ripoffs of One By One

    Vinyl budget?

I have a set amount I allow myself to spend on things, but if some "vinyl emergency" comes up, I can cover it if I really want to buy something. That said, I know some folks on this website don't understand the difference between things they want (records) and things they need (food/clothing/shelter). Some people automatically budget in their head, but others need to write down exactly what they can spend and stick to that. Every time I go to buy something I run through in my head: 1) Is this a need, or a want? 2) Can I find this cheaper somewhere else/will it still be available at another time when maybe I have some "extra" funds? 3) How will this affect me being able to a) save money for the future pay for my actual needs c) not make my wife angry for me spending money on it? If I meet all the right criteria, I buy it. If not, I don't. I think a lot of people (both in general and on this website) have problems with impulse control that having a written budget may be able to help them with. No one should go into debt just trying to buy a bunch of records.

What video games have you been playing?

A guy talking about a video game in the video game thread? Let's lynch the bastard. Some people around here need to get the hell over themselves.

I really like that poster of the kitty cat that says, "hang in there." It's really uplifting; you have a bad day and you just look at that poster hanging over your air mattress and you think, "I will hang in there kitty, I will hang in there." I don't know if it's a VC exclusive poster, but I bought mine at the Stafford Elementary book fair and they didn't ask what forums I'm part of, so I'm sure any of you guys could probably go get one too.
