  5. I have no idea if it's old news or not. I'm kinda out of the loop I guess. I was just curious if people were mad about it. It personally doesn't affect me. And oh yeah... Don't mind me. I'm just taking the mods for a walk. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)╯╲___卐卐卐卐

  8. So if Circa Survive takes 6 months to fulfil a pre-order it's just playing the game, but when waxwork takes 3 it's a mutiny? I'll never understand this board.

  10. Didn't see this covered on here yet; this album has gotten to pretty ridiculous prices lately but there is now a repress of the DMM from One Little Indian. Cost in the US is much more reasonable from Amazon 3rd party retailers here.

  11. He hates that he is nearly 50 now and his glory days of getting young chicks are over. And the guys clamoring for vinyl just reinforce that point I think. Could also be that he has this whole Hank Hill thing going on now too lol

  13. Major Bush - Swallowed feel with this one, Grohl. Nice track, though Vertigo Flowers had a stronger first impression (and maintains a lasting impression). This may rustle feathers, but I hear Creep. Finally, I am glad we are getting closer and closer to the album's release, because I am pumped

  14. Clearly what this comes down to is you cataloging your collection. DONT LOG IN, and the search for Pentimento. It's says "Whoops! Nothing here!" in the search results. then go a little further down and THEN see results that resemble discogs... Remember when you started that bastard "upcoming releases" thread? Let this die like that did, you'll feel a lot better and have a LOT more time on your hands.

I don't know what remote app she will need, but teamviewer should work on any os. http://www.microcenter.com/product/438199/X551MAV-EB01-B_156_Laptop_Computer_-_Black Not the most powerful laptop for sure, but should get the job done.

  21. Just spent a week on Frenchman street. 10/10 Easily had the best meals of my entire life in the French Quarter. Still bummed I found a flyer for a Weedeater/Today is the Day show...5 hours after the show started.

  30. You cannot get to this from the main page. If the only way to access this page is to make an account, you're not going to have a lot of people using the site. The good thing about Discogs is you can browse without any kind of commitment. And I still don't see an uploader for uploading images. If you have to edit HTML to upload pics, no one will upload anything. You need to make this EASY for people, especially when trying to go up against a behemoth like Discogs. Also, on that Pentimento page you linked, it's so lacking of information it's crazy. You have the band > album > album info > pressing info > variant color, but that's it. There's an unnamed column that says "German Press" in a couple of spots. Is that for the label it was released on? I actually dig the column format as it makes it easy to find the information quickly, but not if I don't know what information I'm looking at.

  31. I assume Muscle Shoals/Florence AL for Fame and Muscle Shoals Sound? The last record store up there closed a few weeks ago because the owner simply didn't want to run it anymore. My hometown of Huntsville has the Space and Rocket Center which is really rad....but also a bit expensive. My friends own a record store (Vertical House Records) there that's pretty nice located inside what I would argue is the cultural hub of the city, The Lowe Mill (a converted textile mill). Open Wed-Sat with the artisan market open on Saturdays. Also within the past couple of weeks the smallest record store in the state opened up inside of a converted storage unit....which I've heard actually has a decent selection. Two breweries bought an old middle school a few blocks from the Lowe Mill and are doing collaborative brewing and storage there as well as harboring new food joints such as food fired oven Pizzas and the like. Birmingham, where I currently live, has three record stores, one of which my buddy owns (Seasick Records)....the other two within walking distance of one another (Charlemagne and Rennaissance Records). We also have the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, Civil Rights Museum, and an ok Art Museum. The food in this city is better than anywhere else in the state as well as the music. Decent breweries each with their own vibe here as well. Don't know much about Montgomery (other than I don't particular care for it)....but it is home to the Hank Williams museum, which is kind of rad. The movie Big Fish was mostly filmed there as well. Geographically, if you're coming north from Florida....you'll hit Montgomery first, then Birmingham, then You'd choose west for Muscle shoals or East for Huntsville. If you need/want food recommendations in BHam or HVille if you decide to stop I'd be happy to recommend.

  32. Real Name: I'm shy. Favorite Artists: Queens of the Stone Age, Japandroids, A Tribe Called Quest, Thelonious Monk, Wu-Tang Clan, MF Doom, Cream, Radiohead, Spoon, Kendrick Lamar, and others What's your facebook/twitter/tumblr/etc? Twitter: @SandwichRecords Play in a band? Run a record label? Link us! I played in a band in high school that had many names, the highlight of which was probably Bald Sasquatch. Since then, nothing. Maybe I'll get back to it. Hobbies (outside of record collecting) I brew beer. I like the experimentation involved with making your own. I'm a father, and brewing is the perfect hobby for a parent. It takes a couple hours, then you wait. Couple hours, then wait another couple weeks. And then you end up with beer. Random Things You Want Us to Know Concerning records, I'm a slightly more knowledgable person than your average kid who just bought his first Crosley. So I'm mainly looking to learn more about records on here. I've run into some pretty vicious and snarky folks so far that have pounced on some posters - a bad first impression. But I've also really learned a ton from some posts and enjoyed getting the jump on deals and new releases.

  38. It looks pretty and looks beautifully engineered but what's the point of it? am I missing something? It's April 1st is it? Seriously am I the only one who thinks this is the most stupid idea for quite some time? Its a study in how to introduce warps into play on a perfectly flat record, has no one ever heard one of those portable things? I thought the whole point of a platter was to support the flimsy record and to stop it moving in a vertical plane as it's played and to offer some isolation from outside forces again to stop it moving and transferring that movement into the stylus. I wouldn't walk around near this thing and you better not listen to any music that makes you dance anywhere near it. The platter on a turntable is there for very good reasons so pretty as this looks this is another example of trying to fix a problem that isn't really there in the first place and in this case by removing the platter all the maker will succeed in doing is re introducing the problems the platter removes by being there in the first place. The theory here is that the transducer (the cartridge and stylus) should be in free air and it's a valid one which is also true of a speaker but the problem here is that the whole playing feedback loop isn't in free air, the arm and especially the stylus are not in free air so all this does is remove the force that is counter acting and trying to equalize the force of the arm The material a platter is made of has all sorts of effects on the sound produced but removing it really doesn't have a good effect at all. The effect on the cartridges suspension will be terrible as it's designed to flex from a reference plane which is the platter so if the record is also moving all you will have is chaos at the point of contact Another upside of having a platter is it's effect on speed regulation so again removing it makes life harder from an engineering perspective, especially with a belt drive table. The other problem is that any sales blurb that starts with the sentence "Modern urban lifestyle" obviously has a lot more to do with aesthetics that science and engineering. F.F.S. This ones almost as, if not more stupid and pointless than the vertical one.
