  1. Morning all. Hope everyone has a quick workday & a great weekend! Started a new job this week myself, so that little accomplishment has done a lot for my sense of self for sure. Now, to get back in school by summer hopefully...

  6. Definitely. There are a few people in this thread that aren't necessarily hyped, but are still optimistic that Linkin Park will be worth checking out 12+ years after they had their moment in the spotlight. That's fine. The part I'm curious about - without trying to sound too condescending here - is... why? Hybrid Theory was basically the coolest new thing in junior high, for me. Of course. And I spent a good bit of time with Meteora when it was released, I'll admit it. But that shit is behind me, personally, and to me it feels like good riddance. I've also never worn denim shorts or collected Magic: The Gathering cards since then. There's just so much good music out there that I don't see why you'd hope a band will rehash their glory days for your nostalgia when they're clearly more interested in writing radio butt-rock for Transformer soundtracks. I'm not preaching what anyone should or shouldn't listen to, but I am saying that some things are definitely better left in the past.

  7. They tried so hard, and got so far. But in the end, it didn't even matter.

  8. They always have a one per person limit?! Why are you mad I'm going? Upset my TMR collection will be better than yours ? (It probably already is).

  11. Who was I being condescending or a dick to? My posts were all pure excitement about this event next weekend till some one was dick to me....and my response to him was to go out and have fun instead of complaining....sorry if that was super rude! (Also join everyone else in shit posting me? Post people in the thread have either liked my posts or had a civil conversation about whats going on!) Anyways, ITS FRIDAY. Let's not spiral this into the flipper nonsense. Stay on subject or posts cat gifs....no one wants to read the same old horse beating bickering. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfVsfOSbJY0

  15. Tapes obviously aren't ideal, but this release gave me an excuse to throw some money at the Sheath. More support equals more records and I want those Jakobs. Plus I love that they released D&D in some format. They gave us Caspian from the start, so I think it's cool how it's come full circle. Nothing against TC, but I miss the Sheath preorder parties on their message board and the handwritten notes. Long live the Sheath.

  16. I think you're getting people wrong in this thread. I don't see anyone in this thread even hinting they want a new HT/Meteora record, or that Nu-metal sound. Well, I certainly don't. That music is in the past for me and doesn't really resonate with me anymore. But Linkin Park has always managed to make some decent pop-rock songs that I enjoyed to sing along to. Songs like Shadow of the Day, Waiting for the End, Powerless, Final Masquerade etc...I think they're good at making these pop-rock songs, where you can still hear it's Linkin Park. I agree on there is a ton of music out there which is far better, no doubt about it, but stuff like Converge or Deafheaven ain't exactly the music you can walk around and sing along to in your apartment, or well, I can't Anyways, what is disappointing with this song, in particular, is that you can't really hear it's Linkin Park anymore. I know they can do better than this at least, it seems like not much effort went into it.

Yeah I figured I would try it after I give it a really good cleaning, I just hope I don't have to pay duty again on this order though as it added an extra $13.

  21. Bieber and Timberlake at least know how to write catchy pop songs. They are good at their genres. This is pure shit. It's not good for any genre.

  22. Two girls, ages 2 and 5. Never baby proofed anything with my records. Told them both to leave them alone from an early age. I listen to a lot of records with them, and I make it clear that only I can touch the records. Occasionally as a special treat they can pull one out. And I let my 5 year old drop the needle sometimes. If you get them involved and set clear boundaries, they won't fuck up you shit. And if they do, they're just kids and it's just stuff.

  27. I can confirm this, at least 2 hours. Record store day last year was probably about that and I would expect this to be crazier. Too bad it won't be this weekend, should be around 60 tomorrow.

  32. Recently put mine on the ground with a 1 year old. I just give him a good stern 'NO' when he starts to play with them. He seems responsive that he knows whats on/off limits. At the end of the day, they're just records and can be replaced. If you have some holy-grails just place them up high somewhere if you're worried about it

  34. Good plan. I'm used to just doing shit that night, and spontaneously. That was more when my best friends still lived here, because they hated plans. I guess I'll text people tonight. Can't believe I'll be 31 Congrats Jason, that's awesome! Good luck with the job and school.

  36. What to expect: At least a 2 hour wait in line (some folks will camp over night in line.) You should be able to buy everything announced so far all day, they have talked like it will be pressed in large enough quantities that it will last. Expect things to move very slowly, and run late. Probably be a surprise or two....that will sell out by the time you get to the front of the line (due to the line campers.) Make friends while you stand around and have a good time (I'll be the guy with a STL Cardinal hat on.)

  38. Exactly, now they can just repress at their leisure. No need for NC to hide any stock in the back rooms anymore, only to bring it out and double the price when the stock is low. When they sell out, they will just quietly repress more.

  39. Just watched this and it was probably one of the best movies I've ever seen and the soundtrack was phenomenal. Did some digging and this is actually up on the US Amazon site for $39.99 (before shipping). Granted it doesn't say anything about it being "limited edition" like the one on the Japan Amazon site, but still. Took a chance and ordered it. Comes out March 7th. 42. I never understood how/why the curated releases on VMP sell so fast. Is it because of the free shipping? Lower prices? The same variants are typically available in numerous other places for right around the same price.

    MAN ADVICE v2.0

Huh, I guess I always assumed you were like 15 or something. I don't mean that in a mean way, just an observation. The opposite side of that is my experience. My wife and I got engaged when we were 21 and in our junior year at college. I thought it was cool that we got to grow together a bit before our personalities and interests became a bit more cemented, which studies show happens in your later 20s. So there's that. We were also broken up when I proposed. Our 3rd breakup over the course of about a year. It was the first serious relationship for either of us. And then we were only engaged for about 6 weeks before the wedding... Im realizing right now that I might not be the best person to give people relationship advice.
