  2. I have an idea, we'll call it "Vinyl Collective" where people can come and find out about the stuff they would like to listen to on vinyl being pressed to vinyl. The people who don't like it won't buy it, and we won't shit on each other for our tastes in music!

  7. Amazon is a super customer service oriented company. I'd think that to be banned from Amazon you'd have to be one of the creepiest, craziest, most obnoxious, manipulative, scamming pieces of shit on Earth. Wanting your records delivered undamaged doesn't necessarily put you in this category.

  8. a year ago i would have been all over this, but i'm trying to be much more strict about what i purchase. if i don't listen to it on the regular, via my ipod now, then i cant justify the purchase

I'll upload Muddy, Greatest Hits, and Hormoaning this weekend. I also have the FLAC version of Incest. from the CD if anyone prefers that over a vinyl rip.

  11. The Steve Albini mix is by far the best version of In Utero, and you definitely need it on vinyl. You can get it cheaper on Discogs (than what I see it go for in stores from time to time). Usually are $35 on Discogs, and $55+ in stores. http://www.discogs.com/Nirvana-In-Utero-2013-Mix/release/5146137 I have the 200g RSD version of Incesticide, and damn does it sound amazing. But I agree, a non RSD release would be great. I have the 180g remastered deluxe pressing of Bleach and it is fantastic. For Unplugged I have the ORG 2009 180g pressing, and like all ORG, it sounds amazing. _________________________________________________________________________________________ For anyone looking to get a copy of Nevermind: I have a few different copies of Nevermind. The MFSL 24k CD is the best quality overall, and I use it as my digital listening copy. The best vinyl copy is the ORG pressing. I have pretty much all of them (I have all of them digitally as FLAC), and have done a lot of spinning. Whatever you do, just never buy those damn picture discs; they sound like complete shit - the loudness war won on those. Same goes for that Blue Ray Pure Audio Disk. The 20th Anniversary 4xLP Black is great though, and doesn't use the "remastered" tracks that dickhead Bob Ludwig did. The HD Tracks 96/24 is great too, but I still prefer the MFSL version. // Various Audio Versions •Nevermind 1991 Original Release - Not Great at all sadly. •Nevermind 1996 MSFL 24k CD - Best Audio Quality (In my opinion. A lot of people don't like it.) •Nevermind 1996 MFSL 200g - Fantastic Copy - Good luck getting one! •Nevermind 2008 Back To Black 180g - Really, really good vinyl copy. Hard to come by M/M. •Nevermind 2009 ORG 180g - Great Copy •Nevermind 2009 ORG 180g Pallas - Best Vinyl Copy - http://www.discogs.com/Nirvana-Nevermind/release/4175725 •Nevermind (UIJY-9009 Japan 2LP 200g) - No better than the '96 MFSL Copy (More Expensive) •Nevermind 2011 20th Anniversary 4xLP 180g DGC - Decent. •Nevermind 2011 20th Anniversary Super Deluxe Remastered CDs - $$$ HORSE SHIT - http://www.oldies.com/product-view/30799O.html •Nevermind 2011 20th Anniversary 4xLP Pic Disks DGC - Worst version of Nevermind ever. Fuck Bob Ludwig. Same with ^^^ Anyways, everyone's preferences vary as well as their listening set up. So this game can be a little expensive as there are a lot of copies floating out there, with various descriptions of what sounds the best. But if you're going to get one, get the Pallas ORG: http://www.discogs.com/Nirvana-Nevermind/release/4175725// The cheapest copy you can get is the Pallas repress for like $23: http://store.acousticsounds.com/d/92391/Nirvana-Nevermind-180_Gram_Vinyl_Record / http://www.discogs.com/Nirvana-Nevermind/release/4819086 Of course, most (excluding that stupid Super Deluxe CD) of the best copies of Nevermind are expensive, and hard to get a hold of. The damn MFSL 24k G CD goes for $100+ easily. You can find one on Discogs for $65 right now which isn't horrible. http://www.discogs.com/Nirvana-Nevermind/release/603150I can always send anyone a rip of it though. This copy is the way you're meant to listen to Nevermind. If you haven't heard it, oh man, the album will come to life for you even more! Woops. Nirvana rant. Sorry!

  15. I heard that they all got really hooked on huffing spray paint, and the price raise is due to the fact that need to order paper lunch bags in bulk, and their obsession with Canadian imported spray paint. That's what my dog fight ring leader told me anyway. We all run in the same circles. I'm picking this up today. Love Annabel, and love TE. I know I'm getting an amazing record, with premium packaging, put out by two incredibly hard working guys. I get pissed when boxes of cereal keep shrinking, and yet the price goes up, with hopes that it's subtle enough for me not to notice. This I have no problem with.

  38. That is funny because MXV is one of the most knowledgeable people on the board and has been around long enough to see this shit first hand. And it is very possible for a band/bands to ruin an entire genre of music. Music for the most part is reactionary. One band has the power to shift the mentality of a scene especially one as small and tight as hardcore. A band can come out and do something that hasn't been done before. Bands that play alongside them take note of this new variation and implement it into their music. Then those bands play some shows and spread this sound even further. Pretty soon there are a ton of bands copying that one band. This doesn't have to be a bad thing, but when the style that is being spread promotes violence and ignorance you now have bands attempting to be more aggressive and fans that are only out to hurt others. That can lead to people that don't want to partake leaving the scene that thy were a part of for many years.

With Kickstarter and the like any idiot can come up with a fashionable but badly researched and thought out idea that at first glance looks good which can be marketed very easily to millions, this means you can draw in a huge initial influx of cash but when the flaws are very publicly exposed it crashes and burns also very publicly. In the days before Kickstarter etc. These sorts of idea's would crash and burn without making too much of a ripple and no one would really notice if they even got anywhere near off the ground because the marketing costs to get it out to enough people to make it pay were huge. I think the biggest two flaws with this one though is that it was sold as a rental service which is probably illegal in the US for records and which is why everyone gets to keep the records and why he now can't afford to send out better records, and second he is sending out bargain bin rubbish for a pretty hefty price hike, I know there's one born every minute but it can't take that long to work out you're being sent utter cack and ripped off. As far as curation goes Discogs does a pretty good job of suggesting things I should try and doesn't charge me for the privilege.

I like how the actual VNYL record store sells new records, but their subscribers only get pure junk. Nick Alt, if you're lurking (and there's a pretty good chance that you are), here's a free idea: Every package from here on out should have one new, modern record accompanied by two old used records that somehow fit the same #vibe. Like, something THIS SIMPLE wouldn't cut into your profit margin a ton and would also make customers feel like they're actually getting something worthwhile, instead of mailing thrift-store records across the country just to be taken to another thrift store. So, like, if someone picks "#danceparty" or whatever, send them the new Mark Ronson record with Bruno Mars on it, then some random-ass Stevie Wonder and Lionel Richie records too. BOOM. DONE. Your customer is stoked and you cleaned out your dollar bin. Now pay me $36,000.
