  1. Just a heads up: Everyone saying you were born in the 90s...you're not a 90s kid. You're a 2000s kid . If you were born in the 90s you missed out on a good portion of that decade.

  2. Alright. You've gotta admit that the irony is awesome. RSD causing such a glut of useless records that even the useless RSD records got delayed and won't make it on time. The ultimate in self-fulfilling prophecies.

  3. Record Junkie shared this page with me. I am thrilled to be here. I was going to link to a giveaway video, but instead of instructions in a video, I will put the instructions below. First, here is my channel and my latest video (my videos are mainly about the packaging and design since that is one of my interests and since so many musicians out there are much better about talking about the music – my way of trying to make my channel unique): Gozer's Den Below is the most recent video showing liquid filled records, and such: Next, just SUBSCRIBE and reply to this thread with your YouTube handle so I can confirm the subscription and make sure I don't miss your "add" when I'm going through everything. I'd hate to miss someone, so please remember to post here when you do subscribe. Prizes: I will post a bunch of records for you to choose from. Good stuff in NM condition, not crappy crap. I think I'll randomly give away at least 3 records. It depends on how many new subscriptions I get. If I get a ton, I'll give away more records. I just don't know what kind of response this will get. (I'll announce winners in a few weeks - I'll add the date here, later)

  4. Here's ebay craziness for you. About 7 years ago I bought that damn Jason Mraz album at my local record store, on the strength of that "I'm Yours" single. I couldn't have paid more than $12 for it. I'm not really sure what I was expecting because, quite predictably, I hated it. I listened to it once, maaaaybe twice, and put it on the shelf never to touch it again. I figured I couldn't pay anyone to take that thing off my hands, and it would just serve as a reminder of simpler times. I come to find out the other day that the album is being repressed due to high demand.... reealllly? So I throw it on the bay... Less than 4 minutes in, there are multiple watchers, and I get a message with an offer for $200 if I end the listing. REALLLLLLLLYYY? Jason fucking Mraz. secondhand deja owners are immediately absolved of all shame after this.

  5. I think it's a good thing. These things obviously sale otherwise they wouldn't keep making them, dare I say improving them. At least this way the person who is unknowlegeable about the difference in turntable quality isn't buying a system that will destroy his/her records. I'm sure it still sounds like am radio, but I've got a feeling half the people who purchase these "vintage" style record players believe that's how they're supposed to sound.

  16. I think that TAAS are one of those bands whose impact wasn't really felt until after they broke up. They don't yet have a "cult" following, but it seems to grow more and more posthumously for them. As a side note: less than 20 left of the milky white and the black isn't far behind it. Those two colors won't make it to next weekend.

  17. I'll tell you why I think this, and it isn't just "exclusivity" talking. You only really get to start experiencing childhood around 6. Up to that point, people are pretty much telling you what to do/watch/listen to, etc. You don't get to make choices for yourself and I'd hazard to say many of us have very few memories before the age of 6. That said, anyone born in '90 or a later year didn't get to experience a full half of the decade. So your brother was born in '90, he really missed out until '96, and was only able to experience 4 years of the 90's tops. I don't think you can truly be considered a child of any decade that you missed out on over half of.He was 10 in 2000, so he fully experienced the 2000s as a child. He had 6 years of childhood in the early 2000's (8 if you count through 18, but I really count childhood as 6-16. Obviously this is just an opinion, but I think it is one a lot of people share. Anyone born early in a decade is always going to be in that weird in between eras spot though, as they get a little bit of both decades as a child. Just seems to me these people actually experienced more of their childhood in the 2000s, and therefore would be considered a child of the 2000s.

  19. While this may make "sense" it is not true. My brother was born in 1990 and has plenty of memories I helped him make and he loved the music from the '90's. Some of his fondest memories are of his PlayStation 1 and SNES and Third Eye Blind. So what Randy Savage said is all just exclusivity talking. I was born in '84 so I was at the prime age 6 to experience Home Alone and the Ninja Turtles movies. If my brother was born in 1990 he was 6 --in the '90's-- and remembers plenty about being a kid in the '90's.

  20. I was looking at the Hastings ad in my local newspaper and it shows what looks like a black/white split variant of The Money Store by Death Grips and says "Hastings Record Store Day Exclusive." Is this for real? Has anyone talked about this?

  23. Pretty sure I saw a discogs one already up there yesterday....Unless it was yours and got edited...but it had like 95 people in the "want list" LOL...might want to check just so there are not two... ON a more important note, I am getting so fucking jealous of all these people getting there sets....For someone that has truly been a fan since the 90's (like many people on here too!) This set is more than just music, its apart of our youth/young adulthood... It just bugs me that there are people out their that are getting a set "because its popular at the moment" "they hope to make money off it one day" or just collect anything collectable" I don't know, I am just angry ranting because I am jealous and little heart broken that my favorite artist of all time (Ryan Adams included) has a beautiful set out there and I won't be abel to get one without shoveling out loads of cash I don't have...(yes black copies coming, but I am a sucker for box sets, just love how they look on my record shelves and color vinyl is always nice little touch) Heres the 200th time saying, if anyone wants to let go of theres, somehow gets two! PLEASE consider me! I have all but 2 of KOZ releases (CD and Vinyl) and his music got me through my teen years...I will cherish it and NEVER sell it! end stupid rant...

  28. the packaging in real person is definitely a little more red-ish than the digital orange cover shows but still, orange w/ splatter would have looked so much better than red.

  34. Crosley should stick to the urban outfitters and target markets. People buy crosley's because they're cheap, easy to find, and "look like those old vintage record players". If people are turned on by this "upgraded" player, they should just buy a real turntable.

  42. You are absolutely right. The quality of the mastering process does make a huge difference. It does make a difference in the high-end register. Though none of us would ever notice (I honestly don't even care about that stuff too much). What I was trying to say is that many people seem to think 'digital source=unlistenable' while most of their collections are just that. And it ain't all that important.

  43. Cool: Selling something you bought to listen to and selling it for more than you paid for it, depending on how much someone is willing to offer you if they want it really bad. Not cool: Buying records specifically to resell at a higher cost, especially the moment you get home from buying them. Some eBay people who were posted in the Hot Topic thread even couldn't wait until they got home and took the photos of their records in their car.

  45. I'm in the same boat as hxcoliver, I'm totally willing to drop $20-60 for a bootleg that sounds good in place of the original pressing if the the price will save me a couple hundred dollars. Case in point, see below.... The OG press usually goes for $250-400. Fuck that. I just bought a bootleg that sounds awesome for $35 AND it came on colored wax....
