I never check the news or anything when I wake up, I always wait until I get to work. Now i'm sitting at work in tears.

Bowie is (was) the closest thing to a musical hero that I ever had. It has been immensely difficult dealing with his death today. As an alienated teen, his music gave me hope (even though I endured homophobic slurs and worse for listening to his music). As an aging person, his music has been both challenging and comforting. I wish that I could have just said Thank You for everything. Just once, face to face... and now that can never happen. It's saddening. I hope that his family finds some small comfort in how he touched millions of people's lives for the better.

I guess I was one of the lucky few to order this right before it sold out. I ordered it Sunday, before the news broke. It's insane - in the "sold items" section of eBay people are actually paying $450 for the clear vinyl edition, but I guess I can't say I'm surprised. More importantly - Bowie's death itself, it's devastating. There are no words. This album is even more powerful with the knowledge that he purposefully wrote it as a farewell - what an incredible way to leave this world. I only wish I could thank him.

I'd filed a PayPal dispute well before he actually sent the pending refunds, hopefully PayPal won't close the disputes automatically before the money actually ends up in my account. I'm not terribly worried but I am disappointed in the seller as it seemed like he was once legit. The volume of scammed transactions is crazy, especially considering how he manually approached some of us (including me) to say he had records he wanted to sell that were from our WTB threads. Considering the declined refunds as well, something happened to the original payments and it just becomes a mess. Here's to hoping it all gets sorted out. There's no reason to overreact to it, do the most that you can for yourself (file disputes!... don't gift again) and hope that everything works out okay.

Can I join the Appleseed w/ Holes Collection club? I'll be missing the KS variant, whatever it ends up being since I missed the funding period. Don't think I'll have the money and time to track one down. It's okay though. I'm just happy this is finally coming out. After all, the music is what's important.

I don't think it's unfair to ask about a clear collector press when we've missed it. I do already have the black, but was hunting for a clear yesterday. It's devastating news - but there will be people trying to make a mint from it. I'd prefer not to buy it from those types.

I'm frequently amazed at how lenient people can be about this stuff. particularly in a marketplace based on an online forum that really requires mutual trust to function. I get that the unexpected can happen, but if somebody is actively marketing goods that they either do not have or otherwise have zero intention to deliver in a timely manner, it's nothing less than fraud and should be treated accordingly. The fact that some people are claiming to have received refunds is NOT exculpatory--it is damning. What makes it even worse is that this dude seems to have a pretty extensive collection that he could be liquidating legitimately if he was hard up for funds. Are plastic disks really worth more than your integrity? Pathetic.

Honestly, if you're buying the LP don't stress about where you're getting it from. Buying it at Urban helps us because if our stuff keeps selling they will keep carrying it and gives our bands a much larger reach around the country. Like I said before, getting records in Urban is HARD. On the other side of that, we do make more money on direct sales. In short, as long as you're purchasing a copy you don't need to worry too much about where it's coming from.

Sell that to Old Canes. One song's worth of lyrics done. Just add a 6 minute instrumental onto the end of that.

Time for everyone to get mad at me again. I know you're on the right side of this and I am not attacking you personally. The "what if it was your daughter/mother/sister/girlfriend?" thing needs to stop. I get what the point is and its coming from the right place, but it's kinda shitty. It implies that women are their relationship to men before they're just human beings. It just perpetuates the idea of women belonging to men.
