  14. Seriously man, you need to realize that there are actually people working on This forum that are not out to ruin you day, but your unwarranted bitching could very well ruin theirs. It's one thing if you have constructive criticism that you you present in a polite way, but from the very beginning of this forum update you have been negative in a very abusive and confrontational way. If you are having problems decompressing and talking about music after your 11-hour shift, maybe throw on a record and chill before you vomit negativity onto people whose goal it is to actually make positive changes. Hector has been doing nothing but trying to help, and frankly if you approached me the way you have here, I wouldn't want to help you, I'd tell you to fuck off.

  15. Following her inestimable contributions as a founding member of both Throwing Muses and The Breeders, Tanya Donelly took centre stage to form Belly with brothers Tom and Chris Gorman on guitars and drums respectively and Fred Abong on bass. Around the release of their debut album Star in 1993, Fred left the band and was replaced by Gail Greenwood. Among a wave of essential new American guitar acts in the early-90s, it was Belly’s spikey dreampop that helped set them apart. Catching fire with singles ‘Feed The Tree’ and ‘Gepetto’, Star saw them grab their moment and catapulted them in to the mainstream, selling almost two million copies worldwide and earning them two GRAMMY nominations. A second album followed in 1995, King, before they called it quits a year later. Twenty years on and excitingly the latter line-up of Tanya, Tom, Chris and Gail are back and will be performing both albums this summer on tours of the UK, Ireland and North America. Full dates are listed on the band's official website - www.bellyofficial.com/shows. To complement, 4AD are reissuing Star on vinyl on the 15th of July 2016. Coming with updated artwork from Chris Gorman and package design by Chris Bigg, the new version is now spread across two LPs, is being pressed on white marbled vinyl and will be presented in a gatefold sleeve. It will also include a bonus CD of the album. Star is available to pre-order now from the 4AD store here. Please note that we are releasing this to the world outside North America, so US customers should note that shipping costs will be higher from our store. https://store4adlightbox.sandbaghq.com/belly-star.html

  20. Most of the time I would agree with this, but in this particular case I think the transitional elements are done with a purpose and they really add to the overall beauty of the record. Also, they're fairly pleasant (and quite brief), and the rest of the tracks feel so substantial and weighty, so for me it's a nice respite. All in all, I think you'll get used to them and eventually come to appreciate their role on the album!

  29. Sure. To me, these two songs do sound different and represent the two sides of this record (I wouldn't necessarily call them "extremes"). "Blood on the sand" is a catchy alternative rock song (simple verse-bridge-chorus structure, hookline in the chrous...). There are a few of these on the record, which make it easier accessible than Beggars or M/M to me. "Black honey" as well as "The window" (and others) are dirtier, groovier, more in the vein of said previous records. If you are looking for extremes on single elements (e.g. ambient sounds ("Salt and shadow"), melodies ("Stay with me"), outbursts ("Death from above")...), you'll probably find them in every song. It's a diverse record, ranging from easy accessible hooklines to songs that need to grow on you. Maybe that perception is also influenced by the fact that I've been following Thrice since Identity Crisis. My personal favourites are the first three records (or four, if you count First Impressions). However, they haven't lost me on their development since then and I enjoy their entire discography.

  31. Yes It will. and I did not mean to mock you. It's just that we are having a polite discussion on this thread and you come in cussing everyone. I took it as a joke but I could have reacted in a negative way. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't talk like that to people in person.

  32. Okay. I just did about 6 side by sides and I cannot audibly tell any difference. I compared the inner groove markings and the press is identical on both. If anything, the first press has a slight bit more punch but I'm talking such a small difference. Both sound great. While I was at it I figured I'd capture my collection, cause why the hell not.

  34. So... how about that new Radiohead album? Looking for the thread about that.... anyone seen it?

  35. Since there is now a cool jazz thread I figured I would start a thread for those who appreciate classic soul, funk and blues. I don't have much blues, but here are some of the soul and funk records I cherish. Sam Cooke, one of my all time favorite singers Graham Central Station- Larry Graham from Sly and the Family Stone started this funky ass band. Any Red Hot Chili Peppers fans need to kneel at the alter of Larry Graham for his slap bass pioneering. James Brown's backing band and super fonky. The Meters!!! Found this for 5 bucks at a record swap and pooped my pants. Rufus Thomas on the STAX VOLT label. If you don't shake your ass while listening to "Funkiest Man Alive" you probably have no ass. Anyone else have soul, funk, or blues favorites?

  36. It's definitely just as scary as a parent. That being said, I work in special education for elementary and secondary students, and we definitely try to be as proactive as possible with the most challenging students, and at least in Ontario, there are definitely supports in place for children and families with complex psychological needs.

  39. If your goal is to sell it at cost then just allow people to notify you that they are interested and then use a random number generator to pick the person who gets to pay you. People want this shit so they won't mind paying you. If your goal was to sell 40-50 tickets for $1 so you could make a smidge of money then do the exact same thing but be honest that you are charging a little on top of what you paid. Once again, people want this shit. $40-50 is probably the best deal anyone will see on one of these for a while. There's my idea. I also already have one and don't care what you do so feel free to ignore me!
