  2. Mark is the one who broke me of my collecting OCD. I have at least one copy of everything he has done up to and including Benji. I have come to terms with knowing it will never be complete, because I just can't do the new stuff.

  7. Here's another eBay seller with low prices and excellent feedback: he does not offer a shipping discount for combined items though. Examples: Besnard Lakes latest on colored wax: $5.00 plus shipping Besnard Lakes Panda Bear 'Grim Reaper' deluxe 3-LP set $8.00 plus shipping Panda Bear Aphex Twin 'Computer Controlled 2' EP $6.00 plus shipping Aphex Twin It looks like he has quantities of many of the titles. 11. Just read this from a UK indie store... Made me laugh, in a depressing sort of way. "...on the week that an astonished world heard that Sleeper had reformed and that Sun Kil Moon had streamed the Worst Album Ever™ we have loads of great releases in that have taken a terrible toll on our reviewing fingers..." Sad, but very true.

  12. Got this Undertaker themed demon from Davee Blows while he was a guest at Three Kings Tattoo in Brooklyn last night. And this one is an inside joke and my cat Dizzy from several months ago done by Phil DeAngulo at Allied Tattoo in Brooklyn. I need to take a healed photo soon.

  13. Ok, so I got 4 songs in against my own will: Guys, please let's be honest with ourselves here, this is complete dogshit. I've never seen an artist fall so far from what they once were, and no, this is not musical growth. This is a man who's stringing his fans along for financial gain by putting out songs that take 12 minutes to write in a studio on the fly. I'm starting to think he's really lost his mind OR he is in some kind of financial crisis which requires him to release 2 albums a year and various live recordings to pay whatever addiction he has. I've seen artists genuinely try hard and still put out something that doesn't work, but if we're real to ourselves here, he's not even trying. Please listen to 'Chili Lemon Peanuts' and convince me he has not 100% made his transition into Wesley Willis. Don't lie to yourselves, this is lazy ass garbage songwriting and its a slap in the face to music in general

  14. Listen to Cale:Drew and then immediately put Solace on. Everyone knows what I'm talking about don't say anything haha. Trust me you'll enjoy it.

  15. Someone pointed out that Amazon's listing has a March 3rd date cited, so you'll probably hear more information as that date draws closer. Since a lot of people seem to care about this reissue, this thread will likely be bumped the moment a release date is murmured anywhere on the web. You can read the posts pointing out that February 10th has come and gone, and all the subsequent replies after it – there aren't that many – and determine that no one has any information to share. Or least, I'd like to assume you could determine that, if you really wanted to. I understand that you're new to the boards, but rest assured that no one discusses release dates in private messages with the sole intent of keeping everyone else out of the loop. When there is info, it'll be posted in this thread. And probably several times over.

  16. Considering the demand prior Solace presses have maintained, and analyzing the sale graphs on Discogs and Popsike for various copies and variants over the last 3-4 years, I have determined that I don't give a shit and neither should you. But really. Like with any repress that is sought after, it will drive the demand down a bit, but hardcore / variant enthusiasts will pay just as much or more to complete their collection in the future. I find it tough to really care though.

  17. I'm just befuddled that anyone in this thread was expecting anything other than pure trash from Linkin Park in 2017. Like it's blowing my mind right now.

  22. It's how I feel at all times, but, especially when thinking about Kozelek's progression. COME ON MARK, WE HAVE TO KEEP MOVING. FIGHT AGAINST THE SADNESS MARK. Please, you’re letting the Sadness of the Swamps get to you. You have to try. You have to care. For me. You’re my friend. I love you.

  23. I actually laughed at my computer...then I realized that reading this board would give him something to bitch about on his next album I can see it now: He reads every post in order over his traditional musical backdrop, taking a break after every page of the thread to add his own commentary

  26. I couldn't listen to the stream yesterday at work due to poor internet speed. I'm giving it a listen today, but man....it's the same kinda stuff from the last album. As much as i want it to be good it just isn't. If i find it cheaply (which shouldn't be hard) I'll pick it up. Long gone are the days when i would pre-order this man's albums. Long long gone.

  27. Anyone wanna buy my entire Kozelek vinyl collection? After hearing a few minutes of this new blatherskite, I can hardly stand to look at them with any grain of seriousness left.....

  28. That's exactly the kind of incentive I needed to give this a listen. Solely for shits'n'giggles, of course. This is post War On Drugs-fuckfest Kozelek after all.

  29. It's the whitest rap song I've ever heard in my entire life. Good on you for making it 4 songs in Tommy. I got through what felt like the first 6,780 minutes of nonsense on Chili Lemon Peanuts and turned that shit OFF.

  31. Yeah, the forced bundles thing really sucks as more and more bands keep doing it. I would probably buy the yellow vinyl if it was by itself.

  32. As someone who enjoys new Mark quite a bit I completely understand why people wouldn't like it. Definitely not for everyone, especially if you enjoy RHP and early Sun Kil Moon. Almost feel like he should stop calling himself Sun Kil Moon at this point and just Mark Kozelek

    PO UP: Mae - (m)(a)(e)

I'm going to play devil's advocate for a sec...I think people are just disappointed their first pressing purchase, which was supposedly the only pressing of this, has turned out to not be the the only pressing and a newer, more limited, and perhaps more appealing pressing has appeared. That's understandable...to an extent. But think about this: I'm guessing most, if not all, of us here really like Mae and are excited they're putting out new music and seem to be active once again (<---focus on this last sentence, mostly). And if we're all being honest, we know being in Mae isn't financially lucrative and these guys more than likely make less money than many of us do here. With that in mind, I think them making available another 500 copies of the (m)(a)(e) album should be seen less a slap in the face/broken promise/misleading/whatever or however you feel...and more as a band making a decision most of us would make were we grown adults in a relatively small band like Mae--press some more copies and make a little more money (gasp) and make a few more folks happy who missed the first pressing. If that's going to help these guys continue making music and being an active band again, maybe we should all be willing to let go of the disappointment/deep betrayal we feel and see this for what it is: a band we love is making music again and that's a great reason to...let it go.

  35. April and AFP are amazing through and through for me. Among the Leaves and Benji were spotty, imo. Some great stuff some mediocre stuff that should have been cut. Universal Themes did nothing for me at all. Gonna give this a shot but my belief is faltering considering how off the wall a character this dude is.

  38. Good to hear you really dug it - I'm going to probably rewatch this weekend as I've heard (and can imagine) it gets better with repeat viewings. Thanks for the heads up on the Amazon US listing, saves me $12. I highly doubt it's any different especially since it says Import. Going to cancel my other one and go that route.

  39. Perfect laugh after a day at work. thank you sir! I totally agree with the top highlighted portions with you for sure. AFP is solid as a musical work, but I cannot listen to it very much as it all seems to blend together a bit. Universal Themes managed to get me to buy it based on one song, but that was a very obvious mistake once I tried listening to the entire work. The bottom portion is the part that is most true to me. ATL was the very first Kozelek work to come out that I wasn't in a break neck pace to pre order or even pick up once it was out. At least he still sang the silly lyrics in harmony instead of this aging 50's rap poet shit he's doing now. I really don't care what kind of music he releases, just CALL IT SOMETHING ELSE so I can stop buying albums based on false hope that the contained material will be a return to form.... I really am at a cross roads where I find myself wondering if I continue to fill in the blank spots from his past catalog and just ignore the future releases, or do I just part with everything from his newer era & move on to giving my money to someone who is putting obvious effort into their art. Real head scratcher there... 99.99999% sure the right $ amount could take all my stuff from ATL on minus a few releases I could count on one hand....lol
